(Some) Greenseeing Fans Get Another Message From the Three Eyed Raven

The Sight

In what continues to be a puzzling (and somewhat frustrating) ad campaign for season five of Game of Thrones, another video has been sent to select subscribers to threeeyedraven.com.

Much like the first time around, readers who were lucky enough to receive a text or direct twitter message from the site are reporting only being able to view the video once before is disappears back into the ether.

Descriptions, screengrabs, and video of the latest promo after the jump.

WotW reader, Mike, emailed us a detailed play-by-play of the video accompanied by some high-res screenshots he was able to capture:

So it starts with an eye opening and going into negative, not sure but it could be Bran.
IMG_8114
Then an aerial shot over the frozen north.
IMG_8115
Then some kindling thrown in a fire.
IMG_8116
Then what looks like Arya’s hand grasping a sword hilt (not needle).
IMG_8117
Then a shot of a door (is this the Sept?) (Shylah: Not the Sept, but a set of doors belonging to a location important to Arya’s storyline this season).
IMG_8118
Then the bottom of a line of people stamping their staffs/spears on the ground.
IMG_8119
Then a close up of someone (little finger?) crushing one of the diamonds on Sansas necklace.
IMG_8120
Then I think a shot of Jaime taking Tyrion out of the dungeons.
IMG_8121
Then a stained sword falling in a puddle.
(Note: this is Jon’s sword Longclaw.)
IMG_8122
Close up of john and bearded brother.

Birds flocking in the sky.

Another WotW reader, Lily, shared a low-quality video of a second promo with us as well:

Better quality version:

WotW commenter, Greatjon of Slumber breaks it down:

–Shot of a soldier outside a castle, looked like it may have been a sentry outside Winterfell (definitely old footage – and now that others say it, yes, it looked like the Boltons headed to Winterfell)
–Arya doing one of her flips during her Season 4 bit of water-dancing practice
–Oberyn Martell looking at Ellaria (old footage, just before he fights the Mountain)
–The damned three-eyed raven, cawing again
–As someone else said, a shot of the ocean at night. Looked like a new shot, but it was water, so, hell, it coulda been the finale of Boardwalk Empire.
–Some sort of feet or legs, walking or standing. Possibly new. Went by way too quickly.
–Ended with a shot of the House of Black & White

Shylah: Last round, readers reported receiving a few different “visions,” so we’ll keep our eyes peeled just in case we (or any readers) get a different set of premonitions.

UPDATE: A second version of today’s teaser, with slight variations in footage:

UPDATE: Another version out there, it seems?

Rodrik:
Couldn’t record mine, but what I got was roughly:

Distorted sky (probably an old Northern/beyond-the-Wall shot)
A sword tilt
Angry Catelyn (almost certain it’s the tree-Bran scene from season 3)
3-eyed raven cawing (from that same scene)
Melisandre touching Beric’s wounds
A Stark banner
A wolf’s reflection in the water (season 2 episode 1?)

I think 100% old footage.

  1. I’m just too lazy to care about these “sightings” anymore…

And those trying to interpret them remind me of this:

  2. My initial impression is that only 1 or 2 frames are actually new.

One of the news ones is definitely the necklace shot. What if that’s Sansa crushing part of her necklace? Looks like one jewel is already missing so that was probably what Lady Olenna used. Looks like a right-handed person with a ring on their pinky finger. Did Littlefinger wear a pinky ring on the right hand?

  3. But LF crushed Sansa’s necklace last season when she meets him on the boat, right? Showing her that the necklace was a fake and worthless. I think that necklace shot is old.

  4. Dame Pasty:

One of the news ones is definitely the necklace shot.

I really don’t think that’s new. Littlefinger does break Sansa’s necklace in Season 4, and then he throws it in the boat where Dontos’ corpse is lying.

  5. Dame Pasty,

Littlefinger did this during his rescue of Sansa last season and then tossed the necklace down with poor Ser Dontos… it’s one of the differences between the show and the book where

Sansa still has her poisoned jewels with her in the Vale

    .

  6. OhDanyBoy:
But LF crushed Sansa’s necklace last season when she meets him on the boat, right?Showing her that the necklace was a fake and worthless.I think that necklace shot is old.

Yeah, I think he also threw it into the water with Dontos.

  7. I got it, but I can’t watch it on my phone (Android). I tried watching on my computer, but it told me that I could only watch it on a mobile device. I guess mobile device means iPhone despite the fact that it only has 40% of the mobile market.

  8. I haven’t received either Raven message. Not by text or by Twitter DM.

    RosanaZugey,

Well the sword is definitely Longclaw. I don’t remember Jon bloodying Longclaw and dropping it with a shot like that. Does anyone else?

  9. Seems they have shown that shot from Season 4 Episode 1 where Arya reaches for the Hounds sword just before the bar fight more than once now.

  10. Jeremy:
I got it, but I can’t watch it on my phone (Android).I tried watching on my computer, but it told me that I could only watch it on a mobile device.I guess mobile device means iPhone despite the fact that it only has 40% of the mobile market.

That’s not it. People are getting the message on every type of phone and handheld device.

  11. Sue the Fury,

Yeah. A friend just pointed out it was Jon’s sword. I asked the same question: is it an old scene or a new one? I can’t remember seeing it before.

  12. Sue the Fury,

Isn’t it a shot from “The Watchers on the Wall”, just after Jon loses his sword fighting against Styg? He resorts to using those chains because he lost Longclaw. I don’t remember that exact shot, but that’s what it looks like to me.

  13. Then what looks like Arya’s hand grasping a sword hilt (not needle).

I think that is a shot from Episode 4×01, “Two Swords”, where Arya and the Hound are in the tavern sitting at the table, and Arya feels threatened and reaches behind her to grab the hilt of the Hound’s sword. After that the Hound makes his chicken speech.

ETA: Boojam just explained it way better than I did. Sorry for repeating.

My sympathies to all of you who signed up for this crappy PR stunt. This is whole thing is a waste of time. Why did HBO bother?

  14. RosanaZugey:
Any guesses on who the body belongs too in the screen grab of the sword in the mud?

From the Battle of Castle Black when Jon drops his sword while fighting Stir. No of the shots are new :/

  15. Ok so apparently the sms link doesn’t work with the mobile “safari” browser. So I copied the link and pasted it onto my mobile “dolphin” browser and then I saw a video embedded into the page with the “play” button icon. I was then able to click on the play button and see the vision.

It’s the exact same vision that’s shown in this article.

  16. I received the same video that Mike did. The shot of the stained sword falling into the puddle. The shot of Jon might be new as well, primarily because I don’t recognize the bearded man in the background of the shot. If someone else does, please refresh my memory. Obviously the shot of the doors is new – although we’ve seen it before in the first Sight video.

The rest of the footage is old. I initially thought that the stained sword in the puddle might be a new shot, but some people above have speculated that it could be from 4×09 after Jon drops Longclaw while fighting Styr. I went back and checked on YouTube … and they’re right. You can scroll to 5:37 of this video to confirm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srqfZ5nMwE0

The exact shot of the wintery landscape doesn’t directly ring a bell, but it’s probably from Season 2. The shot of the kindling burning is from Dany lighting Drogo’s funeral pyre at the end of Season 1. Arya grasping the sword is definitely from “Two Swords” in Season 4, right before she and the Hound fight Polliver and his goons. The shot of the spears is from “And Now His Watch Is Ended” in Season 3, after Dany frees the Unsullied. Littlefinger smashing the necklace is from “Breaker of Chains”. Jaime and Tyrion in the tunnel is from “The Children”. And the birds flocking in the sky the closing shot of “Baelor”, after Arya (nearly) witnesses Ned’s execution.

As for the second video … the only images I can’t place are the sword being knocked out of someone’s hand and the final image of the ocean at night. The rest is old footage.

I hate to complain about any new Game of Thrones footage … but this promotion really is turning out to be a bit of a bust.

  17. I think the only new shots are possible Jon and the doors leading to the house of the B&W. The hand with the sword looks like Arya’s scene with the Hound in the tavern.

  18. Come on.

Then an aerial shot over the frozen north. : S2

    Then some kindling thrown in a fire. : S1E10.. that’s Dany’s pyre.

Then what looks like Arya’s hand grasping a sword hilt (not needle). : S4E01.. Arya grabbing the Hound’s sword.

Then the bottom of a line of people stamping their staffs/spears on the ground. : S0304.. the Unsullied rallying Dany.

Then a close up of someone (little finger?) crushing one of the diamonds on Sansas necklace. : S04e03.. Littlefinger crushing Sansa’s necklace when she gets on his boat.

Then I think a shot of Jaime taking Tyrion out of the dungeons. : Obviously.

Then a stained sword falling in a puddle. : S04e09.. This happens during the Jon vs Styr fight.

Birds flocking in the sky. : S01E09.. Right after Ned’s death.

    There’s absolutely nothing new here.

  19. The brief shot in the embedded video of two people going up a sandy hill looks like what we saw filming at that Irish beach. So Jaime and Bronn?

Also, the ocean at night shot is new, isn’t it?

    Anyway. Nothing riveting.

  20. zod,

Jon beside the bearded chap might be new.

(Just using a fake name and email so this iPad I’m using won’t remember my username here).

  21. I think overall the campaign is pretty twitchy but it has a load of people talking about the show again which I guess is the point. Also – from a season 5 teaser perspective I think it suggests we’ll be seeing

more of Brans training as he slowly becomes a Bloodraven mk2.0 parsnip under the weirwood. The jumping forward and back could confirm the general expectation of flashbacks in S5.
  22. (the) Mike,

Bran is confirmed as not being in Season 5 at all. Sorry to disappoint you. There is no “general expectation of flashbacks”; it was confirmed that the season would start off with a flashback (probably Cersei and Maggy the Frog.)

  23. Still can’t get the volume to work on my handheld device and I’ve got my balls twisted all the way.

  24. Luka Nieto,

But what’s to say we wont see random visions like these teasers, potentially in Arya/Sansa/Jons dreams? Also, please wash some of that sand out your arse.

  25. Why can’t they post the teasers on the twitter page like they did with the first Arya teaser. I mean, if your marketing campaign is such a failure why not just make the teaser public so that all the people that were supposed to receive it could see it!!

  26. Almost all the shots in these vids are of old footage from prior seasons, and the execution has been piss poor. HBO needs to hire a new marketing firm, I know someone…I say hire the North Koreans, and watch the internet explode with their campaign for GoT.

  27. Any news on HBO’s YearEnder? It should have been out by now.
I hope that since filming wrapped last week, they’re postponing the YearEnder so they could get some fresh GoT footage in it (wishfull thinking, I know),

  28. This whole thing could actually work if they’d give us something new. Now it’s just lame.

EDIT: However, I really can’t recall the Jon Snow shot with the other brother. Anyone?

  29. I keep thinking this is incredibly poor marketing, but then I remember that Greensight (i.e. “The Sight”) reveals events from the past. Now, I’m starting to think that this isn’t shody marketing, but rather, a glimpe into the past that will now be relevant in the future. Granted, the technical aspect sucks (I’m speaking as someone who hasn’t recieved either “vision” through text), but I imagine the images themselves are significant for S5.

  30. These “teasers” aren’t tantalizing, they’re simply annoying. They’re 99% re-used Season 4 shots, but intercut so rapidly that people might not be able to tell – and the 1% “new” shots are just established characters in established locations, revealing absolutely nothing.

Combined with the glitchy launch the other day, this really isn’t a very solid or significant marketing campaign.

  31. Remember the bloody sword of Jon (Ep 9, Styr & Jon) but I can’t remember the other screenshot, Jon & the bearded brother.
The eye? Jon’s visions?? Arya, Sansa..

  32. I saw about half of what was reported then my slow lagging phone got stuck on a crucified kid pointing the way (the ones from Dany’s story last year). Pretty creepy actually. I never paid too much attention to them last season.

    But yeah, nothing new.

  33. I don’t believe this!
So I finally received my link to the teaser so I went ahead and clicked it only to find out I can only view it on a handheld. Ok, I grabbed my phone, the video was loading for like 3 seconds that it dissapeared and a message appeared saying that I watched the video. REALLY? AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGHHHHH!!!!!!

  34. I got the tweet on my iPhone and went to the page, but there is only a static screen that says Your Vision is Becoming Clear, but it is Fleeting.

    It will not play.

  35. I got the message and remember seeing the negative eye, the crucified girl from dany’s storyline in s4 and the doors. nothing else was new either as far as i could tell…

  36. First Longclaw in the mud, then Jon (with a brother/someone I can’t recognize) and finally the flock of birds that was flying while Ned was executed…
This sounds so much like an hint to “For the Watch” to me.

  37. Maybe this Not everyone has it at the same time, and not the same ones, is on purpose. Because even if it is frustrating to see other people have the first one, when you have it yourself, you feel special. And you can only see it once, so it gives a lot of value to each piece of it. You really feel like you have the sight.

That’s good marketing to me. The shots aren’t new but it’s just visions and hints, just like Bran’s. It’s not called trailer so you shouldn’t expect a lot of new shots or scenes. It’s visions. A good way to wait for the first trailer. More than what we had last year anyway.

  38. Well, I finally got my DM on Twitter. However, the video wouldn’t play on my phone; I just had a black screen. And, of course, there are no opportunities to replay it.

    UGH!

  39. Feel free to text me. I’ll send you some “visions” of me that you can look at over and over and over….

  40. This is absolute rubbish.

First it says “the vision can only be seen on a handheld device”.

Then when I open the link on my phone, it says: “The vision is fleeting. Turn on your audio.” I didn’t know what the held that meant, so just in case I put my headphones before I pressed the video. Nothing happened, nothing happened some more, and then it said: “The vision has come and gone”.

Screw them. This kind of nonsense is not worth it for a few random images.

  41. Somewhat frustrating to put it mildly!

I just got my first TER twitter msg – clicked the link, got a screen saying I couldn’t use a desktop – had to access the vision on a portable device. Cranked up my iPhone and followed the link on that, got an error message saying the vision couldn’t be delivered to my device. I’m going to the garden centre at the weekend to see if they’ve got weirwoods in stock 🙁

  42. Thanks for posting the screen grabs because the software is USELESS. I got the text message, clicked the link and then got a message that it couldn’t show me anything.

    WAY TO GO, HBO.

    🙁

  43. Is there any who got the sight but received this message on a red box with black line contour, when they click on the link from the Twitter DM:

    HELLO
The Raven cannot bring visions to this device at the moment. Keep Watch.

I did turn on the audio. What is up with that??? I think it is a generic message. Needless to say, I saw nothing but an: Error loading the player.

  44. Couldn’t record mine, but what I got was roughly:

Distorted sky (probably an old Northern/beyond-the-Wall shot)
    A sword tilt
Angry Catelyn (almost certain it’s the tree-Bran scene from season 3)
3-eyed raven cawing (from that same scene)
    Melisandre touching Beric’s wounds
    A Stark banner
A wolf’s reflection in the water (season 2 episode 1?)

    I think 100% old footage.

  45. I was given the vision that ended with the house of black and white. I was also able to view it on the safari browser. Only (maybe) 2 new shots, come on, that’s barely even a tease, a dry T-shirt contest.

  46. So I signed up for “the sight” to see what the hoopla was all about and I just got my text.

It wasn’t a vision or tease.

It was U2’s new album. Fuck.

  47. Welp, glad to have at least gotten the message this time through, but that said, this shite isn’t even worth the effort it took to sign up for it. Gimme a break, HBO. Corny publicity stunt. I guess at the very least, they’re stocking up on email addresses and twitter handles they can sell, so, joke’s on us.

  48. Bufferzone:
A thousand marketing fails, and one.

    ahahahahah!!!

this is epic failure. marketing should make people excited about the show but even fanboys like us can’t get any hype out of it. only frustration. anyway this is game of thrones. if another show did such marketing mistakes it would be fatal for it.

  49. Rodrik:
Couldn’t record mine, but what I got was roughly:

Distorted sky (probably an old Northern/beyond-the-Wall shot)

    A Stark banner
A wolf’s reflection in the water (season 2 episode 1?)

    I think 100% old footage.

are you telling me that there is a teaser that includes Catelyn and Beric ???? !!!!!!

    LSH confirmed (:

  50. Rodrik,

If yours would actually be meant as the sight for LS, it would be an amazing one. But probably not.

BTW that Pod&Brienne one is definetely new footage.

  51. Rodrik:
Couldn’t record mine, but what I got was roughly:

    Nice try.

  52. The one pictured above is the one I got today. So many flashes I didn’t catch the first time, it goes so fast!

  53. Shylah,

    Well, she still has the

jewels: we don’t know that there still are any poisoned ones. This is not to state that none of them are poisoned: it’s just that we don’t know that any are. Part of the ploy was that one was misset, which gave Olenna the excuse to adjust it and take it; Olenna might have been making up stuff, or the sole poisoned one might have been askew just to give her the pretext for doing that if anybody was watching.

The Hound: HBO are even better than GRRM and D&D combined at trolling, that is quite a achievement

How is this in anyway trolling? It looks like an advert campaign to me. There is no way that these things are going to show anything of importance: full movie trailers never do that.

As for the quality of the marketing, if it reminds people that Thrones is returning, then it is doing its job. This is no better/worse than what other big TV shows get. (It’s hardly much different from early “teaser trailers” for much anticipated films.)

  54. azor ahai,

I am praying to the Old Gods, The Seven, R’Hllor, The God of Tits and Wine, The Mother Rhoyne, The Many Faced God, and to Shitmouth that you are not trolling.

  55. Is anyone else having a good laugh over this? Short, non-replayable video caps of footage from previous seasons…what were they thinking? Nothing says cool like not being able to watch a video again.

  56. Dogcheese,

Uhhh… it’s from season 3 dude, so it doesn’t mean what you think it means. The teaser’s creepy though, I’m sure someone will upload it.

  57. I hope the visions will contain more new footage as time passes. If they are to give us 4 a month, then maybe it’s good they don’t give us too much right away. But lousy campaign anyhow!

  58. Here is my theory, those last visions of Jon, we have seen that before right? But it doesn’t mean it’s not supposed to tell us something about his next season storyline, which I think is the whole point of these teasers to give us some clues to interpert. So first we see:

-his sword full of blood falling, like if he is going to be defeated somehow
-Then we see him surrounded by brothers and with funny look on his face which reminded me of Melissandre’s vision (knives in the dark? betrayal?)
    – Then the last shot we see birds flying from the moment Ned Stark lost his head (is the same fate coming to his son?)
  59. I’ve just received my first Sight..

I was unable to watch it on my computer.. only on my cellphone

    It was mostly old footage

First the Stark soldier in front of Winterfell,
then Arya’s feet on Water Dancing
later I think it was Brienne and Pod walking in a Vale mountain
    Someone picking up a Sword
    a crucified Slave child
    a Raven screaming
Oberyn staring Ellaria just after his fight with the Mountain
    a Sea in the night
and finally the doors of the House of Black and White

  60. azor ahai,

I know that, but these teasers are to show what’s coming in season 5. Showing Catelyn and Beric in the same teaser together can only really mean one thing.

  61. Annara Snow: This kind of nonsense is not worth it for a few random images.

I agree. They want to show stuff to get the hype up? Cool, show it. Let people link it, re-watch it and analyse it, so the hype train can get rolling. That’s how that works. right? I’m not salty or anything, I just really don’t get this marketing campaign…

  62. House Ray got this text and went to view it on his HTC One M8 (like… a newish fancy phone) and it told me it wasn’t viewable on my device yet.

  63. I’m going to go out on a limb here* and suggest that as time goes on and “Bran’s powers” increase through training, the visions will improve and we will see more future scenes.

    * not really

  64. Colty,

You did a good job there. I would crop and gif it as I did with the first teaser, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the effort. In fact, was there any new footage? Brienne and Podric on the hill seams new to me, but I’m not even sure about that.

  65. Afeastfordances,

Thanks. If there are any more I’m going to try and figure out how to avoid the iPhone player stuff at the top and bottom. But I did the best I could considering I only had one chance! haha

  66. Well, to add to the speculation on the “For the Watch” build-up teaser, before we see Jon, we see someone having a vision and then also a reference to Fire and Ice 😉 Mean something…?

  67. I was one of those people who were having problems accessing this site through Comcast Internet. Not at home at the moment but hopefully the issue is resolved soon enough :-).

Appreciate the hard work that goes into this site.

  68. Lord Hugh Ryvenholt:
But it doesn’t mean it’s not supposed to tell us something about his next season storyline, which I think is the whole point of these teasers to give us some clues to interpert.

This “sight” approach is starting to gnaw on me. As I stated in the previous thread, I think there is something to this…

Perhaps these are a random set of images (past & future) sent to all who signed up, quirkiness and all, but slightly different images for different sets of receivers, which could be collected, discussed and organized into a puzzle of sorts. Maybe all this clunkiness is actually meant to emulate Bran’s training…he (and we) have got to put all the images in context and noodle them out…possibly leading us to the theme of the entire season.

    ….or not…

  69. Jeremy,
I cannot see the teaser too, not in my phone or tablet both Android (Sony and Asus), “the raven cannot bring visions to this device at the moment. Keep watch”

  70. Rodrik:
Couldn’t record mine, but what I got was roughly:

Distorted sky (probably an old Northern/beyond-the-Wall shot)
    A sword tilt
Angry Catelyn (almost certain it’s the tree-Bran scene from season 3)

    I think 100% old footage.

    You’re a troll.

  71. The trolling that is being done to the many many book fans that want LSH to apear is cruel. I have seen all 3 teasers now and i have not seen any teaser with Angry Cat, Beric and Mel in it. So unless you have concrete proof and can post a video i do not believe it

I really want LSH to appear because i think quite frankly it does not make a lick of sense to set up Brotherhood in s3 if no LSH later on. So i really do not know what the hell D & D is doing

  72. Michael,

He’s trolling. Look carefully at his screencap. It’s just the shitty quality as in the teaser, but none of those filters and blurring effects that are present. And they should be.

  73. See ?!
    This is perfect.
We can’t see it again. We can’t share it. We can only Tell others what we recall. Some even lie.

This is Genius. I think the raven is Ramsay Bolton. A twisted torture tool for fans.

  74. Greenjones,

Curious, how do you think it’ll go down? And what do you think is going to go down with a possible

battle in the ice with Stannis? Couldn’t this wildling dude just be part of a set up for that big battle that may or may not happen in episode 9 or 10?
  75. Dogs,

I don’t know if the Battle of Ice will be in s5 or just the lead-up to it, but I don’t think Stan will have anything to do with Hardhome. He’ll be south of the Wall before ep. 508. I guess the sequence that was supposed to be shot in Iceland but was shifted to NI could be either the Battle of Ice or Hardhome really. We don’t know enough yet to say.

My take on Hardhome (or the show’s wildlings-attacked-by-WW scene however it plays out) is that Tormund will have agreed with Jon to go north of the Wall and negotiate with different chiefs from the parts of Mance’s horde that fled. Among them will be the aforementioned “Wildling Elder” and showVaramyr Sixskins. He’ll try to convince them to seek shelter on the other side of the Wall and a group of them won’t agree with him (not wanting to do so on the NW’s terms) and will get killed and wighted at the end of the episode.

Tormund then could return to CB with willdings in tow and the grim news about Hardhome in 509 or 510. If the Ides is in s5, Tormund coming back could coincide with however the show does the Pink Letter/Stannis news.

  76. I’ve not received a Sight yet, but I actually quite like the concept. The idea of using old images knit together to suggest future events is intriguing. I think sometimes we expect too much. Bearing in mind they’ve only just finished filming, this is a clever and resourceful use of previous footage. It has definitely got me thinking about what they mean.
I know I’m in the minority though, and I’m almost certainly alone when I say I don’t mind if we have to wait until the proper trailers for a glimpse of new material. After all, the longer the wait before we see new footage, the longer we can convince ourselves *insert book character’s name here* made the cut for season 5!

  77. Greenjones,

    Added to the wiki.

    Greenjones,

It could also mean Stannis takes wildlings to Winterfell instead of the Northern mountain clans, which is an understandable streamlining. However, I am becoming more and more convinced that you are right —something’s up North of the Wall, maybe as simple as Tormund taking the role of Val in ADWD (and these wildling leaders the role of Tormund), with a whole lot of action added to it. Or maybe this is later, ADWD’s planned ranging to Hardhome, except it actually happens before Jon gets stabbed.
  78. Luka Nieto,

    Thanks as always.

I think Stannis will take some wildlings to WF too actually. Loboda, that Thenn chief they’re casting, will be in scenes with Stannis and that Baratheon General, I think, (and Davos, I guess, if no White Harbour equivalent is in the show) in ep. 509 or 510. Loboda shot on a different day than the “Wildling Elder” did, so I think he’ll be south of the Wall with Stan’s boyos while the Elder will be north of it near Hardhome.
  79. Waxfoot:

    I totally agree.

I received my first twitter message, knew what was coming but it sounded strange anyway to think of it as a one time only flash. I see why Bran’s condition is so frustrating (I reckon this aspect was something they wanted to convey too)

  80. Michael:
The trolling that is being done to the many many book fans that want LSH to apear is cruel. I have seen all 3 teasers now and i have not seen any teaser with Angry Cat, Beric and Mel in it. So unless you have concrete proof and can post a video i do not believe it

I really want LSH to appear because i think quite frankly it does not make a lick of sense to set up Brotherhood in s3 if no LSH later on.So i really do not know what the hell D & D is doing

    Vivanco is that you??

  81. Hodor’s Bastard,

I agree with that, I think we are supposed to try and build that puzzle of visions, but we are just too angry for the fact that it doesn’t show us that much, we desperatly need a full season 5 teaser

  82. Greenjones,

I could definitely see that. The whole Alys Karstark/Thenn plot could be replaced with the Thenns bending the knee to Stannis early on and joining him for the march South. I’m not sure how I feel about them replacing Stannis choosing to ally with violent cannibals instead of trying to earn the loyalty of Northerner — that changes the tone of his plot pretty heavily, but it definitely works just in terms of simplifying the plot. Somehow moves to speed up the plot always end up forcing Stannis in a much darker direction.

As for Hardhome, my guess is that they’re merging the Val mission to negotiate with Tormund (Val being replaced with Tormund himself in this version) with the Hardhome stuff. They get intel that the escaped Wildlings are gathering at Hardhome, and Tormund is sent to negotiate with them to get them to agree to come to the Wall, and to orchestrate the actual rescue mission to get them out. The White Walker attack happens while he’s still there, however, so we get to see it all play out. And putting it in episode 8 gives them just enough time to get Tormund back to Castle Black for the finale, if he lives, or to have word of his death he back to Jon if he doesn’t.

  83. Watched it again. The only new shots, it seems to me, are the one of two people ascending a hill and the one of the ocean. The one of Jon with a bearded man behind him might be new, but it’s so generic (hey, it’s Jon!) it almost doesn’t matter.

The sword being dropped is Bronn hitting Jaime’s hand.

The one in the puddle is Longclaw during the fight with Styr.

The smashed necklace is Littlefinger smashing Sansa’s necklace and tossing it into Dontos’ boat.

  84. Greenjones,

Actually, thinking about it more, having the Thenns join Stannis and having him outlaw cannibalism could actually set up the scene where he has men burned in the snow for eating the dead pretty nicely.
  85. HB and Waxfoot, I totally agree. I received the Winterfell/Child Signpost/HoBaW teaser while Xmas shopping and enjoyed the random thrill of a little GoT in my day. Sure, its mostly old footage, but it gets you thinking both backwards and forwards, much like Bran & BR must. Enjoy the ride, people!

ps: it worked like a charm on my Samsung S3, so its not an Apple vs Android thing.
pps: Rygar, I’d love to get random funny texts from you! Where do I sign up?

  86. Annara Snow:
    This is absolute rubbish.

First it says “the vision can only be seen on a handheld device”.

Then when I open the link on my phone, it says: “The vision is fleeting. Turn on your audio.” I didn’t know what the held that meant, so just in case I put my headphones before I pressed the video. Nothing happened, nothing happened some more, and then it said: “The vision has come and gone”.

Screw them. This kind of nonsense is not worth it for a few random images.

This is exactly what happened to me. And my phone is pretty decent and usually plays videos just fine. My audio was already on too. I checked and double checked.

Putting people through hell to see mostly old footage is not the best marketing strategy. They’re trying so hard to be clever and social media savvy that they’ve forgotten about actual quality.

  87. I was just looking for some info and noticed that you can see in hbo.com (when you search game of thrones and look for schedule results) that there will be behind-the-scenes featurette named “A Day in the Life” coming 8th of February. It will be 28 minutes so it should be interesting.

  88. WeirwoodTreeHugger,

A few days back I got the same issue…but I simply waited about 10 seconds or so then scrolled down the page and “voila!” there was a “play” symbol. I pressed it and got the vid no problem.. And I’m not even a greenseer. I just wish the weirnet had a replay button…but am very thankful for those who have captured the images.

  89. all this shit is old with the exception of a new shot here and there of some rippling water. the vines last year were so much better but also after the new year and closer to the start of the season?? hope they do that again in a few months

I believe this is the same weekend (respectively) that the Foreshadowing featurette aired last year. Hopefully it’s as packed with interesting content as that one was. Also, hopefully this means we’ll be getting a trailer in early January (also like last year).

  91. That was an old shot. Remember Littlefinger shoved the necklace off the boat onto the fool/knight who “saved” Sansa? (Right after he shot an arrow through him). So don’t see how it could be a new shot.
    Dame Pasty,

  92. RosanaZugey:
Any guesses on who the body belongs too in the screen grab of the sword in the mud?

    “Ed, fetch me a block”

Haha really looking forward to that scene

  93. Streiker2,

    Lol at Troll wish lists

    I’ll make my own up

What I saw in the 3 eyed sight was:
    1. Littlefinger saying “Only Cat” before pushing Lysa
    2. Ser Barristan finally getting his moment in the sun and killing Mero…
    3. Some weird obscure shot of Barristan with what looked like some fat guy (Strong Belwas?)
    4. Some Black guy with flames on his forehead
    5. Monkeys jumping off some kind of ship

Looking forward to the next one

  94. Rodrik:
Couldn’t record mine, but what I got was roughly:

Distorted sky (probably an old Northern/beyond-the-Wall shot)
    A sword tilt
Angry Catelyn (almost certain it’s the tree-Bran scene from season 3)
3-eyed raven cawing (from that same scene)
    Melisandre touching Beric’s wounds
    A Stark banner
A wolf’s reflection in the water (season 2 episode 1?)

    I think 100% old footage.

    Lol

I think I saw Bloodraven done properly with just one eye and zombie makeup too

I’m finding it fun when considering they are foreshadowing what s5 plot lines relate to rather than people expecting them as sneak peak trailers for s5 as such

Eg we have Oberyn and Ellaria and later ocean/coastline which I reckon is the Coast of Dorne, the we have the sentry on the outskirts of Winterfell etc as a foreshadowing of that plot line

It is annoying as a once only thing. But I suppose it’s like a green vision like Bran/Jojen

They probably need to explain that…

  96. Given that Bran & the Three-Eyed Raven aren’t even in this season, I think this promotional isn’t working well. You shouldn’t have to explain what’s going on.

  97. I got an entirely different one. It involved a scared Jaime opening his eyes whilst lying on the ground , a horse rider carrying a royal stag crowned with a fiery heart and sword swing.
