Game of Thrones SDCC Panel live discussion

SDCC logoThe Game of Thrones Q&A Panel at San Diego Comic-Con will be beginning shortly in Hall H, hosted by Craig Ferguson and featuring several cast members. The panel lasts for one hour, and many are hoping that the panel will feature some big announcements or special unreleased footage as a treat for the fans.

The official SDCC programming notes:

Based on the bestselling fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin, HBO’s Game of Thrones concluded its 10-episode fourth season in June and will begin filming its fifth season this summer. The series, executive produced and written by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, is an epic story of treachery and nobility, set on the continent of Westeros, where summers and winters can last years. Featured cast include (in alphabetical order) Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaime Lannister, Natalie Dormer as Margaery Baratheon, Kit Harington as Jon Snow, Rose Leslie as Ygritte, Rory McCann as Sandor Clegane (“The Hound”), Pedro Pascal as Oberyn Martell, Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark, and Maisie Williams as Arya Stark.

John Bradley will also be joining the panel, though he was not included in this original announcement.

Update: This blooper reel just aired at Comic Con!

WotW says: What are you all hoping we’ll hear about the most in this Q&A? I love the lineup of cast members on the panel this year, and Ferguson is a stronger choice for a moderator than last year’s choice.

  1. I’d like to hear about the sept scene with Jaime and Cersei and if any of them care to comment on it (particularly D&D). I am curious to know about Dornish casting, too!

  2. Is there a livestream where I can watch the panel?

Congrats on the first real news post.

  3. Really hoping we finally getting some casting news and also any confirmation that Arianne and Greyjoys will appeat next season.

  4. Casting news casting news casting news please please please.

Deleted scenes are *nice*, but there is usually a reason they’re not in the show in the first place, so they’re curios more than anything else. We know Season 5 has just started filming, so they’ve got to get that going. So please, another big casting thing!

  5. They don’t do livestreams, no. Recording will be up shortly after though, it always is. But according to everyone on Twitter, they showed a blooper reel.

  6. Hurray!! I found you!!
Looking forward to seeing Craig Ferguson herd the cats!
AND CASTING NEWS! Where are you Arianne?

  7. The blooper reel is posted by GoT itself thankfully- I’ve added it to the post above.

    2:05

    Joshua Starnes:
And Jonathan Price as High Sparrow

  9. Someone names @saraedean appears to be live tweeting – casting just announced

    Alexander Siddig – Doran
    Toby Sebastian – Trystane
    Nell Tiger Free – Myrcella

  10. Ok I’m seeing this shit on twitter, but Jonathan Pryce as the High Sparrow!! WOW! Alexander Siddig as (not mentioned yet, assuming Doran?) !!!! OMG!

  11. This is hilarious though I must say seeing Pedro covered in blood bursting into laughter is a weird sight.

OMG if comingsoon is to be believed Alexander Siddiq has just been cast as DORAN!!!

  12. Ok so real real quick:

–No Arianne is disappointing. All the others are probably things they’d either not reveal, or save for later, or haven’t cast yet, which is fine. But not seeing Arianne probably means she’s being cut. I didn’t want to believe it till now, but now I do. Sigh.

–Jessica Henwick is a nice choice in terms of varying appearances of Oberyn’s daughters. She’s of Asian descent, and really striking looking. Really nice choice.

–Keisha Castle Hughes is awesome. Her coloring is the one that most resembles Pedro Pascal, so it’s nice to see her contrasted with Jessica Henwick and the comparatively lighter-skinned Rosabell Laurenti Sellers for Tyene.

–Jonathan Pryce! Well wow, nice pick.

    — I think a lot of us pegged Alexander Siddig like 3 seasons ago for Doran…So that’s a lay-up. A great one, but still.

  13. Yay for all this casting news! Disappointed that Arianne has seemingly been gut though.

I also agree that there has to be more coming. How can they go without adding new characters in the North?

  14. I don’t think omitting Arianne means she won’t be important in the books! Just the show is going with a different angle

  15. Jeyne Westerling to appear in WoW prologue? WHAT?? Cue resumption of baby speculation…

  16. Jeyne Westerling, Robb’s book-wife, will be seen in the prologue of The Winds of Winter, these are two different worlds.
  17. I assumed Hughes was Obara nad that makes me happy!
The rest I will learn to like I’m sure, but I am not familiar with anyone outside of Siddig of course.

The lack of news on the non-leaked rules is starting to really make me wonder if the roles of Griff, the Greyjoy uncles and Arianne are indeed cut. I can see ways around all of the characters easily enough, but it would be a huge change from the books of course!

As the site and oath go…
    So our watch begins

Jonathan Pryce I know played Juan Peron in Evita and from the musical Miss Saigon

  19. ace,

    OH duh!
I know Pryce from a lot of projects.

He slipped my mind as I was thinking about the Dornish roles mostly….

I like Price a lot and was considering him for the Kindly Man the last couple of years before learning that role is most likely cut.
