Game of Thrones teases season 6 with Hall of Faces posters!

js

Game of Thrones on Twitter is having a bit of fun this morning, showing some close-ups of characters from the show in the Hall of Faces of the House of Black and White, based on the most recent season 6 teaser. The new promotional images are a mixture of the living and the dead, and the currently unconfirmed (Jon Snow, of course).

More images are popping up all the time, so we’ll add them to the post as they surface!

Update!: In addition to the character posters (collected below), HBO/Game of Thrones has shared on Twitter these group posters for season 6. It looks to be the official poster art for season 6.

Liam Cunningham tells the Herald we’ll be seeing “very different” scenes for his character Davos this year on Game of Thrones.

Of season 6, the actor says, “I’ve seen a bit of it and it’s looking really good. It’s bigger, badder, bolder and naughtier. It’s probably more violent, so there will be magnificent drama.”

And finally- though the show’s season 6 doesn’t begin April 24th, once again be on the lookout for spoilers earlier than that. As in years past, there will be a red carpet premiere for the Game of Thrones season opener.

Currently, CharityBuzz is auctioning off two tickets to the event, noting a date of April 10th.

We’ll keep you posted on details of the premiere event as they’re released.

  1. I really hope these aren’t the character posters for S6. It’s a nice concept but without the hair some of them are unrecongizeable – especially the ladies.

    EDIT: First Hodor, yay.
Think a trailer might be dropping soon? This is either prep or to give themselves more breathing room (tbh, I think they want to hold off until as long as possible – and even then we might only get a few glimpses of new footage, likely from the same scenes as the stills, looks like everything might be too spoilery).

  2. Not really looking forward to the “naughtier” part, but I can’t wait! I squeal at work and freak people out any time new news is posted!

  3. Becks,

I would say sometime in March. They posted all the photos, then posted the most recent teaser. I would assume after posting close ups of the teaser, they might post another teaser this week, then wait a few weeks, and post a trailer and/or few more teasers. New footage, even just a snippet, would be nice for long time fans. This is still pretty cool!

  4. These pictures make me think we’re getting the trailer soon. Hopefully this week.

I wonder if Kit will show his face at the premiere.

  5. Don’t worry guys, I’ve just discussed this with Mihnea on the other post.
I will sacrifice my left nut for a trailer tonight. He will sacrifice his right one.

  6. Jonsnowed,

I could see that. A few people might throw down after Jon Snow’s outcome, and since Davos doesn’t look to be acquiring Stark chi’rens and Stannis is gone, Night’s Watch may be a fulfilling task for him.

  7. Why is everybody expecting the trailer in March?
We already had the first trailer for all seasons this time (even considering this season starts a little later)
Tere are only 60 days to the premier, march would be a little too late, imo. If don’t get it in february, then max next week i would say, but not later.

  8. Jon Snow’s Curling Iron:

I wonder if Kit will show his face at the premiere.

Yeah, fingers crossed for the trailer!!!
Kit at the premiere? I don’t think so…

  9. The lack of trailer when we are already so close to the premiere has really de-hyped me. In a way it’s good because the less expectations I have the better my reaction will be when it actually premieres because I will not be hoping for it to be overwhealmingly(?) good. But on the other hand part of the fun of being a fan is hyping the show so, pros and cons. Cool pics, but it appars they have taken down some of them (Nym’s and Robert’s, more specifically).

  10. They really don’t want to release a trailer. Wow, they are stalling as much as possible. This update will buy them another couple of weeks, so they don’t have to do another update until March.

  11. this is awesome
    I love it

    HYPEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Edit: as much as I would love a trailer. I wont be too bummed if we don’t get one. more surprises! hahaha

The premier is April 10th, yeah? Kit’s play premiers April 9th, so I’m pretty sure he’s a no go. He’s probably busy with rehearsals all through March, I don’t expect him to be involved in any promotion for the show, sadly.

  13. Hawk:

I’m not certain he meant “naughtier” in the sexual sense.

  14. Hanadix,

There are lots of tv shows that only put out trailers less than a month before release (movies are a whole different ball game and not applicable, promotion is very different).

tbh, there isn’t much incentive for HBO to put one out super early, a lot of the cast has said that the season is jam-packed, which means less non-spoilery footage for trailers, hich means less trailers will be put out. If they’re only putting out one or two then releasing it too early will let the excitement dissipate and they won’t be able to bolster it back up again with more trailers (like they’ve done in previous seasons).
At the minute they are worried about excitement for it because even people that were disappointed with last season are eager for the next one because of the cliff-hanger, and they’re already getting a bunch of press.

As much as I want one asap releasing it before now wouldn’t have really done much for them, the longer they leave it – the less trailers they have to put out, which means less footage spoilt and also less time for people to analyse what’s in them (though that will be done a fair amount by hardcore fans, casual viewers are not going to keep rewatching the trailer unless the premiere is further away.

p.s. they know anyone angry about having to wait so long will forget about it as soon as they get the trailer (unless it’s terrible) and therefore it won’t affect their anticipation for next season, and they also won’t become frustrated that the season is so far away because there won’t be too much time between the trailer drop and the premiere. And I have to admit the anxious waiting I’ve done for the trailer actually has me MORE hyped, and now I’d be happy with literally any new footage, as long is the tone is right. Sorry for going on so much, but there’s so much I could say about how smart HBO has been with promotional materials this season under the circumstances.

  15. Mihnea:
    Joffrey’s Cunt,

We need a brave soul too sacrifice his….thing, so we can have a full set!

Hopefully this will please the gods of TV.

Yes! But first we also need a cock merchant, so he can find a wizard, to say the prayers, only then the ritual will be complete.

  16. He will be at Winterfell with Jon. It was confirmed. He was hanging around with the ”Winterfell-gang” all time, so Davos going with Jon against the Boltons. In the show he will find Rickon at Last Heart.
  17. I really can’t get excited with that kind of promo anymore. These posters would have been cool a couple weeks ago. We just need the damn trailer already.

  18. Funnily, I’m not that pumped up for a trailer. Thanks to copious spoiling, we mostly know what is happening this season, so all that remains is the visuals/dialogue, and that, I can wait for the actual premiere for.

  19. I’m adding the posters to the post as fast as they turn up and we see them. There’s Catelyn, Cersei, Sansa, Robb and more added. King Robert and Nym’s pics added back.

Not that into these posters. It’s like…a photo still version of the video teaser no one was that enthused about. So whatever.

  20. I like the posters. Moody, simple, and effective, with the most appropriate quotes beside them.

They could even do more house teasers alone and I would be fine (Martell, Tyrell, Greyjoy, Tarly.) In my fan-fulfilling world, there would be one of House Manderly with the words “The North Remembers”.

In other news, congrats to Michele Clapton and “Thrones” for her win at the Costume Designer Guild Awards!

  21. Question: the priest who babtized theon in season 2 (the one who was confirmed as not being Aeron) was he played by an actual actor, or just some extra? Because if it was an actor, maybe they changed their mind and reused him, and that could be why there has been no rumors about a new actor. They did this with Mossador and are doing it for season 6 with razdal Mo erraz, getting someone back who was seemingly thought to be just a minor character in a short scene. Just a thought. The guy was decent even though his scene was super short.

  22. Jack Bauer 24:
They really don’t want to release a trailer. Wow, they are stalling as much as possible. This update will buy them another couple of weeks, so they don’t have to do another update until March.

    So much ignorance…

  23. It’s like somone read the promotional instructions backwards. First Teasers with new dialogue. Second Teaser with no dialogue. Third stills from the Trailer with no dialogue. What in the blue hell is going on here? What’s next? An ambiguous title screen still with no characters that just says Season 6?

  24. Connor: That poster looks nothing like Tormund, i hardly recognized him.

No, it doesn’t, but Tooor moond Yay. He’s so full of life in every way, it’s hard to see him so still. In the trailer they all look as though all of them had a coating of gray over their faces to make them look more like … stone or something. These look like they were called to the studio, put into full makeup and stuck their heads through the wall for the pic. I don’t care, any news is welcome.

As far as Davos, I think naughty means naughty as in sexual, because he said naughty then added violent to cover all aspects. I don’t care. I’m so pumped watching the countdown, and having something to comment on other than interminable rants about the violence shown to Sansa. I wore myself out on that topic long ago. I even gave up reading the ranting. But it’s nice to say Hi to all of you.

  25. Deesensfan,

Isn’t it? As soon as I read the dates for when the play is running, the first thing I thought was that it was surprisingly good timing for him, so that he’d have a legit excuse for not going to any premiere etc, lol

  26. These are cool, but still creepy. Personally though, I would have been more impressed if they had released these earlier, like an image a day and finishing with the Hall of Faces tease.

  27. Any Sky Atlantic viewers seen the teaser on the tv yet? I’ve been recording programmes I thought might include it but no luck so far. These pictures look far more impressive than the teaser does on a computer screen, although I seem to remember Nymeria Warrior Queen saying it’s much more effective on tv? 🙂

    Edit: Hi Thronetender *waves*

  28. J Lee:

    Yeah it’s kinda bizarre.

  29. I don’t know if HBO’s marketing team sucks or they just suck for this show but two years in a row they think blandness equals excitement. The posters are fine…for December. Much like the teaser was fine…for December. These are photoshopped posters with recycled quotes under them. We are 8 weeks out and what exactly new does this do to promote? It’s just a still shot version of the teaser.

  30. Pigeon:
I’m over it. Trailer or bust.

Me and the bird, we are over it. I have now just set my head towards the actual premier countdown and looking forward to that and the bonus is that there is no spoilerage for the premier as no trailer dropped, we can all be surprised together.

As someone else said, we got an incredible amount of updates and spoilers and photos and even some video with dialogue during the off time. I am well content with that.

  31. I’m completely floored that people don’t recognize the characters immediately. Tormund looks EXACTLY like Tormund. Maybe we just focus on different features to identify people, but I recognize every mouth, nose and set of cheekbones immediately.

I bet these were a ton of fun for the actors.

I had wanted a Battlestar Galactica style last supper photo, but this is fun.

  32. I’m really liking all of the posters. Simple, but effective, and more evocative than the individual character posters typically are. I’ll like them even more if it turns out they’re leading up to a trailer, but either way, they’re cool. At this point, I’ll take what I can get. 🙂

Now that Tyrion’s poster has been released, they’re probably close to done. Maybe we’ll get a few more featuring the dead characters that we saw in the teaser trailer (Ned, Tywin, Stannis, Ygritte), but I doubt we’ll see many more after that.

However, there’s one idea that I think would be really cool, and could potentially change the tone of this entire promotional campaign. So far, there hasn’t been a Hall of Faces poster that features Bran Stark. I would love to see one … but with a twist. Unlike all of the other characters who have been featured so far, his eyes would be open.

I think I’d temporarily lose my mind if that happened.

  33. Seeing Oberyn in the mix really made me smile. I miss him! Surprised we didn’t get The Hound in there. Also is it just me or does Cersei have a seriously smug smirk?

  34. Mmm I wonder if Liam means there’s just more violence in general or the usual amount of violence, but it’s more…well violent? Actually probably the former, at least if we’re talking about what we see (rather than what’s implied which could be a lot worse). It’s not a horror film after all. Well seem to have answered my own question there. As long as it’s directed at the right people…..

  35. If this is it and I cut my right nut for nothing….I swear I…. Who the hell am I kidding, I’ll just wait patiently for the trailer… With one nut less.

You will be missed little guy, you will be missed..

  36. The marketing for this season seems similar to the one of season 3. We also only got some teasers and different character faces (allthough not as dead ones) marketing first and (if I remember right) a proper trailer quite late, also not as many trailers as for s04 or s05.
If this is any hint towards HBO’s expectation for it to have a similar impact as s03, and Liam Cunninghams comment shows the same direction, we really have something BIG ahead 🙂

  37. I’m going with March 27th for the actual trailer. they will release a bunch of teasers until then. We will probably only get one trailer this year. GOT doesn’t really to advertise, its easily the most popular show worldwide.

  38. Rusted:

Agreed. They remind me of the fish-eyed posters from Season 2. Everyone cooed about them simply because they were “new” but not particularly “good” – and I loved the posters for other seasons.

I agree. I honestly think they shot themselves in the foot a bit because of Jon and how they ended the last season. They don’t seem to have many options as far as marketing goes, because they keep trying to tell us he’s ‘deader than dead’.

  40. Cat has that Mona Lisa “what-am-I-thinking?” expression on her facade. Definitely not the pained expression I was expecting…

Love Cersei’s eternally-mischievous attitude as well.

  41. J Lee:
    Joffrey’s Cunt,

Your sacrifice will be long remembered, and generations which know you not, will sing of your courage and take inspiration from your mighty deeds.

For the loss of my left nut, I should hope so!

  42. I would have gone wild for the teaser if it had been tweaked a bit. Instead of looking at faces in the HOBAW and the whole valar morghulis thing which is done to death – If they’d had Bran walking through screens with the same characters and a glimpse of new Bran footage at the end. He’s been gone for a season, we know he’ll be back, important and involved in important developments.

They wasted the crow thing in S3, would have been more appropriate this year, just as this material would have been more appropriate last year. (Then again, these could end up being entirely relevant).

  43. Jared: Unlike all of the other characters who have been featured so far, his eyes would be open.

Cool. Love to see that as well.

On a less serious, abby-normal note, someone is bound to produce a version with Marty Feldman (from Young Frankenstein)

The Sight promos were for Season 4.

  45. They are hyping too much the death of the characters just because of Jon Snow’s “death”. I’m honestly tired about that.

  46. Jack Bauer 24,

It seems obvious they’re going with the Hall of Faces theme for season 6. One thing that got me is that they showed Jon Snows poster first, could they be teasing us more with him?? And all other characters have quotes but Jons…

  47. Jack Bauer 24: The Sight promos were for Season 4.

Ugh no I hated those sight glimpses. I meant the Crow that ‘brings their world back to ours’ or something of the sort with the rains of castmere playing over the top.

  48. HotPinkLipstick:

I focus on his very red hair. Here, it appears so dark like it isn’t red at all. He probably dyed it so that his face wouldn’t appear in the Hall of Faces. They still found him.

    #giant(sbane)gingerconspiracy

  49. Selina,

It’s a little bizarre considering that the first teaser was so invocative of Bran. Both glimpses of the past with his dialogue over the top. I had assumed it would have focused more on him (actually that the brunt of promotional stuff would be centred around him, even if we didn’t get more footage of him), since he’s both returning and can easily be used to present other characters would have been smart too considering the Jon thing.

  50. Jack Bauer 24,

I can’t blame them for stalling. Season 6 is gonna be vastly improved as a result of knowing almost nothing about it, imo. Or knowing relatively little, anyway.

  51. Ginevra: I focus on his very red hair. Here, it appears so dark like it isn’t red at all.He probably died it so that his face wouldn’t appear in the Hall of Faces. They still found him.

    #TormundDeathWatchS6

I will notice hair lines which is why the really bad wigs bother me, like Emilia’s and some of Lena’s. Oh and Natalie D. was having some weird wig-ness in the post wedding scene with Marg and Cersei.

I’m surprised we didn’t get Margaery, Tommen, Davos, Tywin, Stannis, Ygritte, Brienne, Bronn, Doran, or Sam. No Ramsay or Roose or Walder. No Rickon or Bran or Grey Worm or Missandei. Gendry would have been sweet.

  52. Mildly interesting that Nymeria Sand was the Dornish castmember who got a poster. I think she had, what, two or three lines in Season 5? Unlike Obara or Tyene, she never had a moment that seemed intended as a character showcase (however effective you think those moments were).

  53. Hanadix,

So you’re saying we’ll get it in March because with the exception of Sunday and/or Monday depending on where you live, next week is March, haha!

  54. Jack Bauer 24,

Thanks for the link. I’m curious as to why Maisie, Sophie, and Nikolaj are the only three tagged in the tweet. Is that because the others aren’t active on Twitter? Or because they wouldn’t all fit?

  55. I’m struggling to really care about these posters.

I do think some of them are hard to recognise (Robb Stark, Nymeria Sand), whilst others are more obvious (Tyrion, Melisandre, Cersei).

The thing is if some people on a dedicated GoT fan site are struggling to recognise faces then i can guarantee it will be worse for the “ordinary” people who watch the show.

I don’t blame them for trying something a bit different, but the House of Black and white was hardly the most well received storyline last year, so it seems an odd choice to focus the marketing on this year.

    (Obligatory Trailer Comment).

  56. Nikolaj is doing the talk show circuit for Gods of Egypt, and he’s shit at Twitter.

Maisie tweets pretty regularly, but I don’t follow Sophie. Not sure what she’s up to.

    Lena tweets sporadically.

The Twitter choices are probably based on space, but we can dish it. And the positioning of the faces in the combination posters.

  57. I love Cercei’s face!
I love Jon and Deanerys next to each other!

But I miss a lot of faces.
No Jorah, Varys, Margaery, Tommen, Davos, Bronn, Bran, Grey Worm, NO DRAGONS 🙁

  58. Sean C.,

It’s not that weird. It was posted by HBO Asia. She’s of Singaporean-Chinese descent. Same reason why HBO Netherlands posted Melisandre and Daario Naharis (two Dutch actors). The twitter accounts are trying to appeal to their readership.

  59. Sue the Fury,

I didn’t say weird, I said interesting; I was wondering if it meant she had more to do this year. If it’s just demographic targeting, that’s also a reasonable explanation.

  60. interesting choice that nymeria is the sand snake that gets a poster. she was the only sand snake in season 5 that didn’t really get vicious hate or have any cringeworthy lines. wouldn’t be surprised if they mainly focus on her this season and flesh out her character more because of this.

  61. So they’re all bald except the guys get to keep their facial hair (and Emelia keeps her eyebrows)?!?! What up with that?

  62. I quite like these – they are a million times better than that Tyrion/Drogon poster from last year which was just odd (and none of the other characters got one).

Surprised Bran doesn’t have one…yet. And I think it’s a nice touch that actors like Carice and Nicolaj had their’s released in their geographical region.

It’s odd how they have no hair on their heads but beards! I love how Joffrey looks pained and Cersei looks really smug! Everyone else looks rather neutral/expressionless (which I am presuming was the idea!)

  63. The banner on Facebook has a ‘Watch Video’ tab but when I click it, it says the content is not available. Does that indicate a trailer being added shortly perhaps?

    ***wishful thinking***

  64. I find this poster campaign incredibly bland. There could have been a bit of colour variation for starters. It just looks like a bunch of photoshopping to me.

  65. I swear the people in charge of marketing get lazier every year, starting from the lame dragon shadow thing from S3. This sucks.
At least the people who make the blu-ray sets actually improve the posters instead of just plasting them on the box.

  66. Nerd:
So they’re all bald except the guys get to keep their facial hair (and Emelia keeps her eyebrows)?!?! What up with that?

I almost choked on my soda, too funny.

  67. KaKa,

To me, Tyene had the most carisma of the three. She was very lively and I didnt really mind the cheezyness to her characters. I thought she was fun. Hoping Dorne gets fleshed out more though. Doran was extremely underused in favor of Ellaria who (in the show) was not a great character. In my opinion Ellaria was the problem with the Dorne-storyline, not the sandsnakes. They were quite close to their book counterparts. Get Ellaria out of the way quickly, flesh out Doran and bind the sandsnakes to him, then we’re back on track. The Dorne-subplot was never a disaster to me, just an inferior storyline in a season which had very strong stories for Jon, Cercei, Arya, Tyrion, Dany and Stannis. It never ruined anything, season 5 was awsome!

  68. HotPinkLipstick,

Because four of the Big 5 prominently appear in the trailer and now in these posters, I don’t place credence in these faces predicting who will die in Season 6 or even 7. All men must die, with gingers dying twice, but these faces are no more or less likely to be the ones that go immediately, IMO.

My ridiculous hope is that, when spring comes, Tormund will be some form of King of the North. One ginger to rule them all; one ginger to bind them. One ginger north of the Wall to leave the darkness behind them.

You’re so much more observant than I am. I thought the wigs looked good. Bless.

  69. everyone who didn’t get a poster is going to die next season

    rip davos
    rip margary
    rip tommen

    Roose? Bran? Loras?

  71. Horrible campaign , will somebody over at HBO just ok the release of an actual trailer and just dump this craptastic campaign into the recycle bin on the laptop of whoever came up with it .

  72. raya:
everyone who didn’t get a poster is going to die next season

LoL! Game of Thrones cast goes from 350 actors and actresses to 11 in one season.

  73. They should have put the Arya quote “Anyone can be killed” on all season 6 posters, it would have given the campaign more impact in the mainstream media.

(also: Huray, a post and comments section that I could participate in, despite my self-inflicted spoiler embargo)

  74. I wonder why they are using the hall of faces theme.
Does that mean we are getting a lot of action from there this year? or is it just a random choice

  75. Do we know if these are images of their actual faces being photographed and cropped into the Hall of Faces frame for this promotion or have they actually made a plaster replica of each actor’s face? They seem incredibly lifelike to the tiniest of details for it to seem like replica faces, not to mention the amount of work it would’ve gone into making every single one, even for actors who have long since departed the show.

  76. I think the most significant thing we might draw from these posters and the teaser is the appeal to the past. The casual fans remember so little of what has come before (it shocks me how little some of them retain long term), so reminding them of Robert, Catlin, Robb, and even Ned may be helpful in setting us up for the flashbacks. That’s the best explanation for King Robert, who will likely be important again.

  77. Deesensfan,

It is just a marketing/promotional theme HBO has chosen for season 6, IMO. I don’t think it has any more significance than the raven theme they decided for season 5, in which we barely had any reference to Bran or Bloodraven or greensight. GoT fans are used to looking too hard into every single aspect of the show/books (not saying you are, just in general) 🙂

  78. What’s got me wondering is why are they giving characters that are long dead like Cat and Robb and Robert (but none for Ned, so far) posters for the S6 promotion? Unless there’s a hidden symbolism/hint there.

  79. West of Moon:
What’s got me wondering is why are they giving characters that are long dead like Cat and Robb and Robert (but none for Ned, so far) posters for the S6 promotion? Unless there’s a hidden symbolism/hint there.

    Lady Bessie-Windheart confirmed!

  80. What a load of nothing. Get less excited with each teaser they show now. It’s faces in a wall, not arsed HBO.

  81. JCDavis,

I’m also over it. I suppose this happened because I got accustomed with the disappointment and I don’t expect anything resembling new information. Fortunately I feel the premiere date drawing closer and this is what matters.

  82. Meh, they can keep Stoneheart… I was more thinking symbolism,

like Cat is a hint to the return to Riverrun, Robb hints the King in the North/The north remembers, Robert… A reminder that all the Barratheon’s aren’t dead, maybe Gendry returns? Just fangirl speculation.
  83. Dany,

Dragons? That would be weird, don’t you think. But yeah, others are missing, but possibly can’t put all of them. So, they choose perhaps the most important or significant characters. Who knows. What do you mean by Jon and Dany next to each other? For sure shippers will see some hidden meaning behind this.

  84. They’re continuing to screw with us! They’re asking us to tweet the names of who we think will die next while the fans are tweeting for the trailer, lmao.

  85. Connor:
They’re continuing to screw with us! They’re asking us to tweet the names of who we think will die next while the fans are tweeting for the trailer, lmao.

Yeah, many seem seriously hacked off 😮

  86. Connor,

LOL. HBO questions: “Who will die next season?”. More than half the answers already are some variation of: “Where’s the fookin’trailer?”

  87. The lack of Greyjoys has always been the most disappointing thing about their promos. Every season. Especially this one.

  88. Selina,

Something has occurred to me, but you won’t like it – I don’t like it either! Bran’s not there because he’s going to be a tree-god and stay in the cave, he’s neither dead, not alive.

  89. I feel like the marketing is not highlighting that “All Men Must Die” but more that the lines b/w the living and the dead are going to be very blurry this season. With Jon’s 99.9% certain resurrection and Bran’s flashbacks at the center of that “blurriness.” There are going to be a lot of characters that the casual viewers just assume are dead

    like the Blackfish and Edmure

who we know to be returning this year.

I am trying to be positive about this trailer thing but it’s starting to get to me. I need 1 minute of nonsensical new footage now !

  90. Shy Lady Dragon,

He can stay in the cave when he is older, near death, but he doesn’t need to stay there right now. I think he can become an entity in the future, but he still has many things to do outside the cave while alive.

  91. I don’t think they are doing this methodical campaign only to hype the show’s infamous “shocking deaths!” reputation. Or even just to play with the elephant in the room (Jon Snow!!!!!). THEY AREN’T BLOWING SMOKE. There actually will be multiple deaths this season. And they’re telling us straight out. Probably more than there will be in “Winds Of Winter”. And Martin has already hinted that there will be several in the book, including POV characters. Of course, the show already took care of one of them last season. As Martin said, “David and Dan are even more bloodthirsty than me”.

  92. Enjolras:
The lack of Greyjoys has always been the most disappointing thing about their promos. Every season. Especially this one.

Weird considering that the II’s are coming back and Euron is being introduced.

  93. Selina:
    Shy Lady Dragon,

He can stay in the cave when he is older, near death, but he doesn’t need to stay there right now. I think he can become an entity in the future, but he still has many things to do outside the cave while alive.

LOL. I read this without knowing what you were replying about. So I was just assuming “he” was GRRM and “the cave” being his writing lair or something.

  94. Love Davos and cannot wait to see him without Stannis, but please, no nekkid scenes! A man must keep some dignity.

  95. Death masks are such eerie things. Am intrigued and not just a little nervous to see Tormund, Daario and Nymeria Sand up there. Keeping my fingers crossed for dear old Giantsbane!

  96. Sundae: The premier is April 10th, yeah? Kit’s play premiers April 9th, so I’m pretty sure he’s a no go. He’s probably busy with rehearsals all through March, I don’t expect him to be involved in any promotion for the show, sadly.

How come this one says April 12?
    HBO’s
“Game of Thrones – Season 6”

Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, et al.)
    Tuesday, April 12, 2016 – time TBA
(arrivals are likely to start between 5 PM and 6:30 PM)

    at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre

  97. Good. It seems Davos (My overall favorite) will come to the front more and more, which feeds my own personal theory.

And those posters are creeping me out.

  98. I actually like the official s6 poster. I don’t know why, but it just looks good to me. And I wasn’t crazy about the teaser or the individual posters. I can understand why people are tired of the “All Men Must Die”/”Anyone Can Be Killed” mentality of the show. We get it, there will be a lot of deaths, likely to several main characters, but if they are only there for the shock value, they start to lose significance, IMO. Hopefully whatever deaths happen this season will be the culmination of well thought out storylines.

  99. The marks on Jon’s face. Does that not now fit with the first released poster of him with blood on his cheek under the eye?

  100. Deesensfan,

It’s a cool marketing decision. The hall of faces is one of the series’ most iconic images, so using it like this makes a lot of sense.

It’s just a bit late for this kind of stuff when all everyone wants is some actual footage. Which is why no one wppreciates the stuff.

It’s a very good seasonal poster, especially if the season is as focused on the past and flashbacks as it seems. One of the better ones, and certainly not of dragon shadow or season 4 photoshop dragon quality.

  101. Pedro:
Am I the only one who thinks that show-Daario is actually Victarion Greyjoy working for Euron?

pretty sure that you are not the only retarded person….

  102. I want to see a Mad Men esque trailer.

Just random 1-2 second clips of different characters saying something or giving a look. So many people’s heads would explode.

  103. Cersai’s has to be my favourite, she even manages to have a evil smurk on her face when she’s dead.
I wonder if they got the old cast members to do a photoshoot for these or if they are edited photos??

  104. So that face poster is going to be Blu-Ray and dvd cover for season six. Maybe they change faces that Dany and Jon can be in cover too, but I like it as it is now.

Can’t wait to get season five on Blu-Ray and watch the whole series before season six starts. Show looks so amazing on Blu-Ray!

I have a feeling that trailer is here soon… This weekend? Maybe!

  105. Underwhelmed with the official poster. It’s amazing how different so many of the characters look with their eyes closed and no hair, I didn’t recognise a couple of them. Which does make me wonder why they have chosen this path – if uber fans aren’t immediately recognising everyone, casual fans sure won’t. Wonder if they’ve gone down the Hall of Faces route so they can show dead characters -ie, Jon Snow can legitimately take front and centre in the advertising whilst they still maintain he is dead dead dead.

  106. Sean C.:
Mildly interesting that Nymeria Sand was the Dornish castmember who got a poster.I think she had, what, two or three lines in Season 5?Unlike Obara or Tyene, she never had a moment that seemed intended as a character showcase (however effective you think those moments were).

I still have trouble remembering which of the Sand Stooges is which. Hoping they just go away henceforward.

  107. A Man Grown:
Was it confirmed if Art Parkinson is back this year?

I’ve been wondering the same thing. I don’t remember hearing anything, but I really hope he is.

  108. LordDavos:
The marks on Jon’s face. Does that not now fit with the first released poster of him with blood on his cheek under the eye?

He got those facial scars when he was attacked by Orell’s warged eagle.

  109. Pedro,

Good to see you responded so well to such an unnecessary comment.

I, like many others, love Cersei’s smirk!

I also couldn’t help but wonder if Nymeria’s inclusion points to her having more to do in Season 6. I hope so. I’d really like something to come of her character.

  110. scififantasygirl,

I could swear I remember a picture of him in a Belfast hotel room wearing a shirt from a local pizza place. It may have been on his instagram…assuming he has one. No, that wouldn’t be confirmation, but it would at least be circumstantial evidence, especially along with being sighted with Natalia Teena.

  111. Sundae: The premier is April 10th, yeah? Kit’s play premiers April 9th, so I’m pretty sure he’s a no go. He’s probably busy with rehearsals all through March, I don’t expect him to be involved in any promotion for the show, sadly.

But it certainly works well for the build up of the outcome for his character, whichever way people will think it will be. I’m sure the internet will be in a tizzy if he’s not there, regardless of his play, which btw I would love to see if I didn’t live in Canada.

  112. alins tat: pretty sure that you are not the only retarded person….

I suggest that you take one minute to think about how the use of ‘retarded’ as an insult would make you feel if you had a loved one with a developmental disability.

  113. Jared:

However, there’s one idea that I think would be really cool, and could potentially change the tone of this entire promotional campaign. So far, there hasn’t been a Hall of Faces poster that features Bran Stark. I would love to see one … but with a twist. Unlike all of the other characters who have been featured so far, his eyes would be open.

I think I’d temporarily lose my mind if that happened.

Holy crap, that’s an awesome idea!! I thought if anyone would have their eyes open it would be Tyrion, but now that you mention it, Bran would be the perfect character for it.

I find it curious that he’s not in the Hall of Faces promo, considering he’s been in pretty much everything else.

  114. These look interesting but it was impossible for he to recognize some people I initially saw without their names next to them. So maybe not the best execution.

I Dream of Spring, your suggestion why they are doing this is interesting, but maybe they just wanted a new way to do the character posters. Btw did season 5 have character posters? I googled and season 1 had people on the throne, season 2 drawings that which has some red and green and had the swords from the throne in the background, season 3 the probably most iconic half in the shadow posters, season 4 black and white posters. But I did not find posters for season 5.

  115. Nymeria Warrior Queen:
    scififantasygirl,

I could swear I remember a picture of him in a Belfast hotel room wearing a shirt from a local pizza place. It may have been on his instagram…assuming he has one.No, that wouldn’t be confirmation, but it would at least be circumstantial evidence, especially along with being sighted with Natalia Teena.

Sounds right then. It will be awesome to see tbe both of them again, and of course Shaggy. I know the show hasn’t gone much beyond Bran when it comes to the warging traits of the Start children which is sad because it adds so much in tbe books. So it would be interesting to see if they will write Rickon as having that powerful bond with Shaggy being strengthened considerably while he’s been m.i.a.

  116. Liam Cunningham’s choice of words makes me nervous. To become bolder, naughtier or more violent is not exactly what GoT needs. It already far exceeds most other TV in those departments, and in my view they are not what make the show great. If making it more sensationalized has become the priority, then I fear that the quality of the storytelling and characterization is likely to go downhill.

  117. My prediction (29 main characters) #SpeakTheName

    The North (7)
    Aliser Thorne
    Roose Bolton
    Ramsey Bolton
    Ramsey Bolton
    Walda Bolton
    Rickon Stark
    Osha
    Melisandre
( a handful of northern lords in the final battle)

    Iron Islands (2)
    Balon Greyjoy
    Theon Greyjoy

    Riverlands and Vale (5)
    Edmund Tully (or) The Blackfish
    Lord Walder Frey
    Sickly lord Robyn Aryn
    Bronn
    Podrick Payne
( a handful of Vale lords in the final battle in the North)

    Kingslanding (6)
    Tommen
    Gregor Clegane
    Grand Maester Pycelle
    Kevan Lannister
    Mace Tyrell
    Loras Tyrell

    Dorne (4)
    Ellaria Sand
One or two of the three Sand Snakes, Tyene or Nym; (imo they should keep Obara played by Keisha Castle Hughes)

    The Waif or Jaqhen
    Jorah Mormont
    Daario Naharis
    Greyworm

    ===
And I seriously hesitated to add Davos and/or Brienne… And Little finger…of course. But I think (hope really) we can keep them a bit longer (for different reasons) !

  118. Joffrey’s Cunt:
Well if the trailer drops on the 27th, I guess the guy from Imdb was telling the truth…

Oh, I forgot about that guy. I’m pretty sure he was full of shit, but if the trailer drops on the 27th I’ll have to go find his post on IMDB ASAP. LOL.

  119. wizardeyes:
    HotPinkLipstick,

Does this suggest that Lady Nym will play a bigger role in season 6??

God, I hope not. The Sand Snakes were just horribly miscast. You can’t be a badass when you look like a strong sneeze would knock you over.

  120. Ginevra: My ridiculous hope is that, when spring comes, Tormund will be some form of King of the North. One ginger to rule them all; one ginger to bind them. One ginger north of the Wall to leave the darkness behind them.

    I love that idea !

  121. At this point, i’m kind of happy we don’t have a trailer.
Even though I looked at the watchersonthewall spoilers, I still don’t know what to expect from season 6 really. The book readers are in the dark, the show watchers are definitely in the dark. Funny enough I don’t think I’ve ever anticipated a new season of a television show this much since the last season of breaking bad. If we do get a trailer, i’m glad it will be closer to the release date. This is pretty exciting. Dig the creepy posters, funny that jon has no quote on his poster.

  122. It’s worth wondering how much the spy footage and set photos might be responsible for the bizarrely non-specific promo material so far. Not that we’re “being punished,” but that they feel as if they’ve already gotten a ton of early free press. The Tower of Joy footage put a lot of us in “Ohmigod it’s real!” perma-hype and the Kit-on-set stuff was a trending story even outside GoT fan circles.

I enjoyed the leaks this year a lot because they never really veered into true spoilers (no deaths, no plot specifics beyond knowing a few characters will share scenes or travel, &c). They gave roughly the same kind of information we’d get from a spoiler.

Perhaps the powers that be would agree, and from a purely informational standpoint just don’t feel the pressure to put out the trailer. Or anything with new information. Gahhh.

  123. Do they really even need to try to market this really ?

    BunBunStark,

Just to prove he was full of shit, I really hope it doesn’t premiere on the 27th of this month.

  124. HotPinkLipstick: The Sand Snakes were just horribly miscast. You can’t be a badass when you look like a strong sneeze would knock you over.

Glad I’m not the only one who was bothered by this. They put them in sleeveless outfits (which people in desert countries just do not wear), accentuating the fact that not one of the three had arms that looked anywhere near as toned as women who train with weapons all the time would really look. The SS should look strong and stringy and tough and weathered – not like they’ve led a sheltered life at court.

  125. For the record I love these posters. They are ominous, creating lots of internet discussions and stunning to look at. Hauntingly beautiful I guess you could say. I do think its odd that some key players are missing, yet long dead characters are shown such as Robert. There must be some cryptic message there….some sort of symbolism but I can’t begin to imagine what it means. Most of what I would come up with would likely require adding more strips of tinfoil to my hat.

Honorable mentions – Cersei’s smirk, Jon’s beautiful pouty lips, and the idea of Davos taking the black and becoming Lord Commander.

  126. Piggy backing off of an earlier post, these would be my guesses for deaths:

    1. Alliser Thorne
    2. Roose Bolton
    3. Ramsay Bolton
    4. Fat Walda
    5. Northern/Vale Lords Yet to Meet
    6. Balon Greyjoy
    7. Edmure Tully
    8. Walder Frey
    9. Robyn Arryn
    10. Tommen
    11. Pycelle
    12. Kevan Lannister
    13. Lancel Lannister
    14. Mace Tyrell
    15. Loras Tyrell
    16. Septa Unella
    17. The High Sparrow
    18. Ellaria Sand
    19. Trystane Martell
    20. Jorah Mormont
    21. Daario Nahaaris
    22. The Waif

  127. Nym is there for obvious promotional reasons. HBO ASIA. Note the actors are promoted often by their home countries or race. The actress playing Nymeria is the closest choice for an ‘oriental’ asian and so she was selected for obvious reasons (part asian), though Ellaria would be a better choice in my opinion.

It has nothing to do with elevated importance. I don’t expect she will have much more, but one can never tell.

  128. Firannion: Glad I’m not the only one who was bothered by this.

Having almost finished A Dance With Dragons, I can safely say without a doubt that the entirety of the Dorne plots written for the show were terrible, as was the writing of the Sand Snakes. When I came to the first mention of Dorne in the books I was like ‘ugh, ok, I just have to get through it’ because I was under the impression that what the show portrayed summarized what the plot was all about, but after reading a bit I began to realize, appreciate, and even enjoy all there really is to the story.

  129. Oh, Dorne was boring as fuck in the books, I mean, wait, not Greyjoy level boring, but fucking boring. The casting of the Sand Kittens only made it worse.

I’ve been better arm definition on cheerleaders.

  130. Kilgore Tully:

That’s a great point, along with the fact that much of this season will be off-book. I know for myself that the leaks that this site shared are what has been driving me mad for April to come. I think even more so than any trailer would to be honest. What the people here at WOTW do is amazing for the series in general and I can’t wait to watch season 6 with everyone here 🙂

  131. Yaga,

This has been my main argument for months. The spoilers and leaked information by everyone has D&D basically thinking “why give them a trailer- they already have tons of leaked information”. Besides its the hard core fans that are fainting for not getting the trailer yet they are the ones with the most “leaked” information. Honestly I would like the trailer but am not too mad it’s not here yet. I know the show is coming soon and I’ve just been reading and watching first four seasons back to back!! It’s all good. Pick up a hobby till S6 starts!!

  132. Aryamad: Also is it just me or does Cersei have a seriously smug smirk?

Not just you, that’s the Cersei smirk, like from the early Cersei days. Lena has that down to an art form – she should copyright that smirk.

  133. While I understand the sentiment that becoming Lord Commander would be a good fit, ultimately, for Davos’ character, I don’t see the logic behind it happening in the short term. How would he attract a majority vote of the surviving members of the Night’s Watch when he is as yet barely a known quantity to them?

  134. Ice Spider,

While it’s true that it’s hardcore fans that are the ones hanging on the release of a trailer, trailers are an integral part of how television shows’ returns are advertised, and I can’t imagine a major show foregoing one.

Unrelatedly, this Instagram post was linked over on ASOIAF Reddit, showing various actors being interviewed for upcoming media soundbites:

    https://www.instagram.com/p/BCJ8qWijt_i/

  135. Firannion,

I agree. Can that word be eradicated from the English vocabulary?? My brother with Down syndrome was called that for years as a child and defending him was a must. I detest that word!!

  136. Jeb: (Obligatory Trailer Comment).

LOL – btw still really love your avatar. Did you design that or did you find that pic somewhere? However it happened it’s great – that blue popsicle eating WW in a jacket lol

  137. Sean C.,

I completely agree the trailer is a necessary component of getting needed advertisement out to the general populace, I was just saying that I’m good either way. But feel that this prob has a lot to do with leaked information over the course of last 6 months. The later release date that is. Thanks for the link!! ?

This!!! Exactly. And for anyone who hasn’t read the books for whatever reason, you really should take the leap. The show is fantastic and one of a kind, but the books are downright incredible, and the amount of additional information you get in regards to the entirety of the story is almost too much to take in. Also, there are a great number of fanvids and video blogger theorists on youtube to enjoy as well. I just bask in it all, in conjunction with following this site to keep my GOT obsessed mind busy between seasons.

Notice that the pair’s of actors are involved with each other’s stories and they have Theon and Pod paired.

  140. Ugh, they should have used this marketing campaign last year when The Hall of Faces was fresh and relevant, and used The Raven teasers this year, now that Bran is back. Just utterly baffled by the marketing decisions here

  141. Nihl,

I’d have been pretty pissed if they used the faces before last season. We’d have known instantly what it was portraying, and spoiled seeing the Hall in-show for the first time.

  142. Firannion,

No,they are not…Orell´s warged eagle left him four sets of marks…two over each eye and two under…these are the ones the OTHER or White Walker gave him when they were fighting at Hardhome

  143. Jack Bauer 24: Notice that the pair’s of actors are involved with each other’s stories and they have Theon and Pod paired.

So it would appear, although I suppose that each could be more linked to the unseen person sitting on their other side. Interesting if they are going to have some onscreen road buddy time together. This would seem to imply that Brienne and Pod find Sansa and Theon and split up to guide them to their separate destinations.

I’m trying to imagine a Pod/Theon social dynamic now, and hoping that we don’t get a lot of cheap, sophomoric jokes about relative genital endowment. Surely it took more than that for Pod to impress the whores of King’s Landing.

  144. Hariette Tuttle:
My prediction (29 main characters) #SpeakTheName

    The North (7)
    Aliser Thorne
    RooseBolton
    Ramsey Bolton
    Ramsey Bolton
    Walda Bolton
    Rickon Stark
    Osha

I love that Ramsay dies twice!

They all seemed paired up there for story/geography reasons.

Alfie and Daniel Portman being paired kinda confirms what we all expect. Brienne and Pod will meet up with Sansa and Theon early in the season.

    Before…

Theon goes to Iron Islands with his sister

    And

Sansa goes to “The Wall”? Or goes to “Last Hearth” to find Rickon?
  146. I love these posters, the concept is really great!

And I’m totally okay with the fact that there won’t be another trailer.

  147. Deesensfan,

I think showing the folks who have already died is a preface to all of the flashbacks I think we will get this coming season.

Edit: Oh, I see Demonmonkey had the same thought earlier and expressed it much more clearly.

  148. They’re really throwing this “ALL MEN MUST DIE” theme at us. It would seem very logical to swing the season’s message to “ALL MEN MUST SERVE” to balance this.
Would you die for a kingdom? That did appear to be an underlying theme last season.
Would you better serve a realm? This would be good for an underpinning theme for this coming season.
I guess it’s coming down to short-game versus long-game now. Which has the greater importance? It’s been touched upon previously. (And quite clearly, back in season 1.)

  149. Jeb,

I agree. Some are a bit hard to recognize. I don’t need it to be a puzzle. Overall, I’m not thrilled with the emphasis on the House of B & W. That’s just my personal taste…its not one of my favorite story lines.

  150. To me, I thought it was interesting who was paired next to each other for the two main posters. Not usually a person who reads into promotion and creates symbolism or a secret message, but I think the pairings both share the most significant moments in their story.

    Joffery/Caitlyn –

    Betrayal at weddings

    Jon/Daenerys –

    Reborn in the flames (probably)

    Sansa/Robb –

    Keys to the North

    Oberyn/Cersei –

    Trial by Combat

    Arya/Jaime –

Handicapped/Go great lengths in attempt to reunite with family

    Tyrion/Eddard –

    Great Leaders/Wrongly Accused

I suppose you can mix anyone and find a connection, but this is what jumped out at me.

  151. Damphairintheshowplease!:
    KaKa,

To me, Tyene had the most carisma of the three. She was very lively and I didnt really mind the cheezyness to her characters. I thought she was fun.

Agreed completely! Tyene was campy, sexy, outrageous fun, and Rosabell played that perfectly.

  152. Jack Bauer 24:
Jeffrey looks like a douche even in the HoF.

Unfortunately, he was mistakenly assigned a cubby before the acolyte learned that he was supposed to go to the Hall of Feces instead….

  153. Boye,

I’ve seen several people comparing the character who are side-by-side, but how about by position… there are two group posters.

    Poster 1 / Poster 2
    Joffrey (d) / Jon – Kings
Joffrey was King, but a bad one, or by some a false King
Jon is often seen as the true King (or a future King)

    Catelyn (d) / Daenerys – Mothers
    Catelyn’s main theme is motherhood
Daenerys – Mother of ***, her theme has also been closely tied to being ‘the Mother’

    Tyrion / Sansa – Underestimated
Both have always been underestimated, but they prove themselves as survivors

    Ned (d) / Robb (d) – Imperfect Hero
Both were sort of red herrings, or imperfect heroes – we blindly believe that doing the right, noble, or honorable thing would be enough – but it often falls short and you fail to see the bigger picture.

    Oberyn (d) / Arya – Revenge
Both become consumed by revenge, it leads Oberyn to his death, will that be the same fate for Arya.

    Jamie / Cersei – Identity
Both have been on identity arcs, without Tywin (and to some extent Robert and Tyrion) they have been free to act as they will without any one to curb them, counsel them, or stop them – and both have been growing further apart – two who were once like one, are moving in opposite directions.

Perhaps you see other possible connections? would love to read them!

  154. As The Hound would say – “Fuck the King!” and ditto with HBO 😮

Lets have a trailer now please… We’ve all suffered long enough – caw caw 🙂

  155. Florence Days: What happened to Arya? She has two big scars on her forehead, why??

Interesting…maybe via her training while blind?
In S5, she was whacked by Jaqen, the Waif and Trant. In S4, she was smacked on occasion by the Hound and had fights at the Inn and with Rorge. In S3, she had several skirmishes with others and got whacked unconscious by the Hound with an ax handle. Given that, I expect she should carry more than a few scars around with her.

  156. Rygritte:
    Hariette Tuttle,

I’m tempted to reply, The Marketing Department #SpeakTheNames.

Were they even able to get it trending?

They replied to only 5 people which was a complete and utter fail. Everyone blew up their Twitter asking for the trailer instead.

  157. Firannion,

I agree. Davos has a wife and wont put himself in a position where he cant return to her. Davos does however need to align himself with a new party. Perhaps Jon’s or Sansa’s for instance. Otherwise he might have to join the NW, as the ex hand of a dead king he will have a lot of enemies and be counted as a traitor by the Lannister’s.

  158. Sean C.,

Theon and Pod together? That seems so unlikely. I can’t think of a reason why Pod would agree to go off with Theon. Sophie Turner is missing in the pic. It would be interesting to see who she was paired with, Gwendoline Christe maybe.

  159. Ser Roger Sterling,

They’d probably just been asked about Jon Snow for the millionth time.

Michael McElhatton and Iwan Rheon look like the interviewer just delivered a really inappropriate joke.

  160. Boye,

I don’t think Eddard qualifies as a great leader. His job was to guard the North; however, on hearing of sightings of White-Walkers, he kills the messenger and fails to properly investigate the boy’s claims. Nedd should have questioned the boy, gotten on his horse and ridden straight for the Wall.

Instead, he went traipsing off to King’s Landing to properly investigate something that wasn’t his business: Roberts’ bastards. In doing so, he led a murderous Joffrey to the bastard children. Even his guard advised him not to be so out in the open and Nedd replied, “Let them look!.”

He was reckless with his life and the lives of his daughters and household, and the well-being of the North.

Nedd didn’t lead anybody anywhere except to misery and death.

Well, to be fair, all that is nothing but myth and legend. Pretty much no one believed the nonsense about White Walkers anymore. I’m pretty sure that was not the first time a deserter from NW used some bullshit excuse on why he had to run away.

  162. Connor: That poster looks nothing like Tormund, i hardly recognized him.

Every character looks like a corpse, and corpses often are difficult to recognize. A big reason why people insist that a corpse is not the person they were hoping to identify is not just wishful thinking, but the simple reality that we all look “wrong” without any of the subtle movement that we do while alive.

  163. Anon: on hearing of sightings of White-Walkers, he kills the messenger and fails to properly investigate the boy’s claims. Nedd should have questioned the boy, gotten on his horse and ridden straight for the Wall.

Exactly! Just like Obama, Cameron, Putin and other responsible world leaders mobilize their air forces when some uneducated and probably non-too-bright person reports a UFO!

Anon: Instead, he went traipsing off to King’s Landing to properly investigate something that wasn’t his business: Roberts’ bastards.

No, Ned took the job and went to Kings Landing because as a Lord of Westeros, it is his job to make sure that the country is well-run. Remember, it is the Hand more than the King who runs the realm often: and Ned understood that although Robert was a great general, Robert was also a lousy executive.

Robert’s Bastards had absolutely nothing to do with why Ned took the position. Indeed, in the books, the only “selfish” part of Ned’s taking the position was to arrange better marriages for his daughters than they could get in the North, and that was largely Catelyn’s urging.

  164. Mr Fixit: Well, to be fair, all that is nothing but myth and legend. Pretty much no one believed the nonsense about White Walkers anymore.

This is an important point that it seems that a lot of fans miss. Indeed, you should change that to “believe”: sure, the Wildlings “believe” and many members of the Watch “believe” but they have encountered the Walkers: and as the old saying goes, seeing is where believing ends and thinking begins.

Nothing has changed for anyone in Westeros. Even if the Wall should fall, then I predict that the southerners will dismiss claims of White Walkers as Northern superstition (as they did with the claim of wights) and that if they think anything has happened, then it is just a huge Wildling invasion.

  165. Wimsey: Aren’t those the eagle claw marks? I think that he’s retained those since then.

I’m thinking they meant it to be from that, but they aren’t very consistent, here. This image shows, from left to right, Jon Snow bleeding out, Jon Snow in this poster, and Jon Snow sometime in Season 5. The two pics from Season 5 show much more vertical and much less prominent scarring.

I don’t think still images ever capture movement, hence the “still” part. The poor lighting (even though 100 times better than the teaser), the lack of hair, and the closed eyes all contribute, I’m sure.

  167. Ginevra,

    jajajaja :-))

@Rygritte/JackBauer24 : Probably because the list is way too long for twitter… wait…
In any case, the promo this year is a bit frustrating… Do we even have a date for the GOT documentary and what it is about ?

  168. Wimsey,

Exactly! Just like Obama, Cameron, Putin and other responsible world leaders mobilize their air forces when some uneducated and probably non-too-bright person reports a UFO!

…and you think questioning the boy and riding to the Wall to investigate further is equal to mobilizing the air force. Exaggerate much?

C’mon, Wimsey! You better step up your critical skills; or, I’ll have to read your comments with a far more critical eye from now on.

  169. <a hr

    Sigh…

Except, those pictures above are not pictures of dead people. They are 3d scans of live actors’ heads, probably with textures of their faces stretched over the 3d model. All the actors did for the scan was close their eyes.

So, what makes them corpsy, again? The mere fact they closed their eyes?

Are you having a stroke, or something? I’m sincerely concerned.

  170. HotPinkLipstick,

The Sand Snakes were just horribly miscast. You can’t be a badass when you look like a strong sneeze would knock you over.

..especially when sword-fighting, or spear-fighting against men with far greater muscle mass. They just don’t have the power to really swing those heavy weapons. Anyway, the poisoning sequence was effective, I thought,…which kind of supports what everyone – except Arya – in GoT says: poison is a woman’s weapon.

I also don’t think they developed the SS carefully enough…their dialogue sounded stilted, strange like watching a dubbed kung-fu movie.

Dorne was a feast for the eyes though.
