Game of Thrones season 6 tease coming this Sunday night!

tease

We’ve been waiting for a trailer for Game of Thrones season 6, and finally, we’ve got confirmation that we can expect something before this Sunday night’s debut of Vinyl on HBO.

According to the Game of Thrones official Twitter, a “tease” will air on February 14th at 8:59PM ET. So be sure to tune in then to find out what’s in store this year!

The tweet, complete with a glimpse of the House of Black and White:

Though the tweet says “tease,” it may be the actual full trailer rather than a brief teaser. Either way, we only have two days to wait to find out! What are you hoping to see in the Sunday night footage?

  1. Hodor!

A teaser is not a trailer, but we’ll take what we get.

And the reason I am not expecting a full trailer is how it seems to only be allotted one minute in the schedule. The previous seasons’ major trailers have been longer, haven’t they?

  2. What are you hoping to see in the Sunday night footage?

    I know we won’t get a close-up glimpse of

Jon, but I would really like to see some brief shots of Castle Black (perhaps in turmoil after the stabbing) and some panoramic views of SnowBowl. Is Ghost too much to ask for??

    .

And dragons. Can’t go wrong with dragons.

  3. Naaa. Wishful thinking.Probably more of greyjoys, bran nd dany! At best i can expect something related to jon, dragons or ww in final trailers.

BunBunStark: I know we won’t get a close-up glimpse of

    .

And dragons. Can’t go wrong with dragons.

  4. For me, something is better than nothing, so I’ll take whatever they give me!

I highly doubt it will happen but I want to see

    Ian McShane
  5. I hope they mean “it’s not the final trailer yet” (Season 5 had it in March), and not that it’s an actual 2nd teaser. Just give me 90 seconds with new dialogues and footage and I’m gonna call it “trailer”, I’m waiting for 8 months.

  6. What’s the point of a second “teaser” if they already did one back in December,i’m honestly starting to think the PR marketing of HBO is taking us as fools . And if this is any indication of what we would get than i rather not bother, sorry for being negative but after waiting so much this is dissapointing .

  7. I’m hoping for a glimpse of some of the new characters as well as the returning ones.

  8. It’s great to know for sure we are getting something on sunday, but it’s sad it’s just a tease. I was expecting a full trailer around early february.

Do you think we will get the full trailer next week before GIRLS?

And do you think we will also get A DAY IN THE LIFE? That was really cool.

  9. Piyush Sharma,

But we already got new footage in the HBO previews remember, now granted they were only a few seconds long but it’s not like these are going to be any longer, the texts alone will probably take 20 seconds of the time plus these boring glimpses with no character there like the one that they just showed,i mean Christ this one alone is 10 seconds long .

  10. It would be a really pleasant surprise to see a glimpse Euron in the teaser. If it does have footages from multiple story-lines, I except to see Dany, Bran and Jaime. Boltons are possible, not to mention something from the Wall. I’m kind of feeling the Martells won’t be big in S6, so I don’t know if they’ll feature in the teaser either. It could also be that we’ll only hear Bran and/or his mentor.

Of course, it could be Cersei instead of Jaime, or even something else from King’s Landing. But it should be major enough of a focus on S6 to feature in the teaser.

My guess it that there will be only very subtle indications of the WWs or the Dragons this time. Seeing one of the wolves would be something, though. Especially if it’s Ghost!

In the end, I just really, really hope it is a short trailer with brief bits of footage and dialogue from multiple story lines. Teasing us with something else is just too cruel. HBO, you are not the Boltons.

  11. i’m curious to see if this teaser will have any glimpses of dorne at all. if it doesn’t then that would confirm my thinking that HBO want to ignore it as much as possible due to the annoyance and bad reviews for dorne in season 5. since dorne wasn’t featured in the boatloads of stills either

  12. Well, the first proper trailer for Season 2 was only 67 seconds, so this could conceivably features lots of great shots, dialogue, etc.

But if that 10 second snippet above is from the actual tease, then I’d expect something more restrained.

    We shall see.

  13. John M W:
But if that 10 second snippet above is from the actual tease, then I’d expect something more restrained.

That would be a massive F U from HBO.

  14. Please allow me the pleasure of seeing Euron in action during this trailer, that’s all I ask for. That and a gratuitous shot of Missandei’s midriff……..

  15. Just yesterday morning many were thinking we’d get nothing, and while I (like many others) was convinced we’d get something with Vinyl, there was no way of knowing with any certainty. Suddenly, we got 20 new photos, and now today, an announcement we’ll get something on Sunday. I can’t bitch too much.

I will, however, preemptively summon Abyss, Maester of Gifs, and humbly beg of him to grace us with his gif magic at his earliest convenience (which may not be until the next day, as I believe his Maestership resides in Germany).

  16. Yay!

Don’t get your hopes to high though usually a teaser is just a trailer of a trailer.

But at least we get something!

  17. Let’s not get too excited, it will be aproximatively 30 seconds top… and probably just flashes of new footage.

  18. Between sleep, eating, and work, it took me about 24 hours to read through the comments on the new photos, and I only opened the damn thread about an hour after it was posted.

Not gonna make the same mistake Sunday.

I’m sure my girlfriend won’t mind when I rush the end of Valentine’s dinner and ask her to wait a couple hours after we get back to my place while I rewatch, read, comment, and repeat. Sort of a test, really…

  19. I will facepalm so hard if it’s similar to that “Chaos” teaser from Season 3. God they can’t be that cruel.

And it actually makes sense since it was uploaded on February 10th back then.

  20. Saw someone on Twitter saying that the way HBO likes to do things is, they run an edited, 1 minute “teaser” on their television network (not going beyond that for reasons of ad revenue), and then proceed to upload the full 2.5 minute (or whatever) trailer online a few moments later. Can anyone attest to this? Did that happen last year, too?

  21. Pounce:

Oh yes they can and might well be again. Honestly, though, that season 3 teaser is pretty good.

It’s amazing how much Robb looks like Jon in that teaser. *pours one out for poor blundering Robb*

  22. BunBunStark,

While it was good, I remember that a significant amount of people were disappointed.
We just want actual footage at this point…enough with the “teases”.

  23. Yes! I hope at the end of the tease they have the date for the full trailer. I’m not expecting this to be any longer than 40 seconds though. Vinyl starts at 9, so it’ll be short.

I’m expecting the full trailer in March.

  24. Tyrion the Myrion,

First of all, try waiting 6 years for a book. We’re all waiting. Keep your panties on.
Secondly, HBO PR and marketing is fucking brilliant. One statement, viral within minutes. They know exactly what they’re doing.

  25. I want to see Euron and Dragons, or at least one. They might hold off on showing Drogon so they don’t spoil how big he’s gotten.

  26. Joffrey's Cunt,

This euron person everyone’s been talking about better be good…. Lol so much hype and I’m curious to see why. If they showed him in the trailer, I would not even know. Lol

    Anyway
I can’t wait for Sunday night!!!!
Maybe they won’t do a full trailer cause it would give away till much???

Nah that’s silly – they can pick and choose whatever they want

  27. The Drowned Goddess: HBO PR and marketing is fucking brilliant. One statement, viral within minutes. They know exactly what they’re doing.

Yep, and can you imagine how many people are suddenly looking up Vinyl?

  28. Jack Bauer 24,

They may hold off on some dragon shots because they’re not done making them yet. Remember last year they said the dragons weren’t completely done until pretty late because it takes so much time to “build” them with cgi. And Emilia was filming indoor green screen shots well into December this season, so they really may not be done with them yet. I’m hoping for at least one shot of Drogon though.

  29. Jack Bauer 24,

Drogon should be the same size as when we left him, though, right? At least, early on in the season. The between-seasons time jump can’t be more than a few weeks, due to where we left various storylines (Jon, Dany, Theon and Sansa, etc.).

  30. “Though the tweet says “tease,” it may be the actual full trailer rather than a brief teaser. Either way, we only have two days to wait to find out! What are you hoping to see in the Sunday night footage? ”

Sue, it’s not like you to tease US like this. Is this you hoping against hope, or a true ray of sunshine?

What do I want to see? Well, they’ve given us a poster of Jon, how about more Jon. Dragons. McShane in costume of whomever he’s supposed to be. More Dragons, but probably not, because Tyrion spotting a flying Drogon was what they used last year. But Tyrion confronting the other two would be cool. Balon on a bridge, Euron striding across a beach. Dany either rallying the widows, defying the Dothraki Khals, or coming out of that burned Dothraki temple. No more Ramsay. I hate Ramsay, ( I like Iwan, just can’t stand Ramsay) don’t give him more air time than necessary. Even Edmure and Blackfish would be better than more Ramsay. A dead Walder Frey. Jaime in the Riverlands. Bronn and Trystane cornering Ellaria. Did I say Dragons? Sansa, not looking pregnant. Arya killing the Waif. and …. JON of course, in any way, shape or form.

  31. Pounce,
    Arthur,

Ahh, ok! Guess the wait will be a little longer then. Still though, the more waiting we have to do now, the less we have to do between then and the actual premiere…

  32. thornofhighgarden,

    I was thinking that also.

Hoping Drogon gets even bigger but like you said and the director of season 6 episode 1 said, season 6 starts right off where season 5 ends. (Jon Snow bleeding out).

However, hopefully mid to end of the season, some time will have passed and Drogon can be even bigger.

  33. How long do you guys think it will take to be uploaded online after it airs?

  34. Boy,I definitely need to find a more mainstream series 🙁 something with 20 episodes, normal time between seasons, no cryptic, manipulative marketing and def no 100 year wait for the basic material to be eventually written…Oh,and all those LOST critiques and I see GOT is walking the same erratic path…

  35. Oh, I forgot to add Direwolves. I want shots of somebody’s wolf, or all of the wolves left, everybody’s wolf. But probably especially Nymeria and Arya. Now THAT would be epic.

  36. r-hard:
    SPOILER WARNING

What about this picture? (Jon Snow and Melisandre shooting maybe?)

    https://scontent.fomr1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfl1/v/t1.0-9/12744377_10205979230986981_460038048070021671_n.jpg?oh=058d78f64a007e2816c589c95662bbda&oe=5765AB6E

That picture was floating around last week. It’s from Reddit, which should tell you all you need to know.

My opinion is that it’s a badly photoshopped image using Kit’s head (he does love his man-bun) on either Ned Stark’s body or that of some random northern soldier from previous seasons.

  37. Living in Japan, my Monday mornings are going to be hell from now throughout the season’s end. Everything happens around 9-10am when I am at work, and I can’t watch until evening….arrgghh! I’ll have to avoid the internet all day.

  38. One of Roose Bolton’s 20 good leeches:
    BunBunStark,

Now that I take a closer look, it seems as though he is using the exact picture of this armor from the A Clash of Kings mod for Jon’s torso.
    http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/22/21191/Northern.jpg

LOL, that looks to be it exactly. Right down to the 2 creases/indentations in the torso. After 20 years of reading spoilers for shows, it still amazes me the lengths some will go to to try to deceive people.

  39. I want to see a direwolf stepping out of the darkness.. and then more wolves ominously join and we see a pack, a large pack..

Symbolism for the time for wolves?

  40. Hoping for something about Jon. I was surprised when Outlander’s trailer just flat out showed that Claire goes back to her time, so maybe HBO will show us a brief snippit of Jon at the very end swinging his sword and pissed off.

  41. I’m so stoked. I’d like to see foreshadowing of Ramsay’s end, anything with the dragons, and bits of Bran’s visions.

  42. Ser Oromis Locke:

I’d be just fine with a teaser that just showed Direwolves…in fact, I’d be just fine with a teaser that just showed what was going on with Ghost while a certain someone was getting stabbed off-camera; although that might just be this season’s cold open, rather than a teaser…

  43. BunBunStark,

Far be it from me to defend reddit, but to be fair, it’s not from reddit. It was just posted on reddit. It’s actually from ASOIAF Facebook, which appears to be a fan run page but given the title of the page caught people off guard and made them think it was a legit photo at first.

  44. Kilgore Tully:

HaHaHa!!! What a devoted GoT fan!! If she truly loves you, she will wait! Hope she passes the test!?

  45. My prediction for the teaser/trailer
    >> Dialogue involving Cersei/Jaime/Tommen
    >> Background monologue from Three Eyed Crow
    >> Quick shots of everyone looking sad/fierce at the Wall – Davos, Mel, Olly (coz he is so big with David and Dan), Thorne
    >> One-shots of Sansa and Theon, Blind Arya, Captured Dany, etc – basically stuff from the images released yesterday
    >> Hopefully some short glimpse at McShane as Elder Brother
    >> And for the shocker – An epic shot of Euron (please oh please!). Euron is the only major character they have announced to be cast.

  46. The Veep and Silicon Valley teasers were released today, and they were both 30 seconds. So I’d expect the same for this.

  47. Pounce,

That was my first thought too, but i don’t know…Kit have a big head for his body i think. (not because of his hair) 😀 So this picture could work for me.

  48. trarecar:

That would be baffling after the campaign to convince the world he’s dead. If anything we’ll get him on pyre. Maybe some hints like Melisandre looking on suspiciously, or a tantalizing bit of dialogue about ToJ thrown in for readers.

  49. Goodie!

My guess is that there will be exactly 0 dragons in the “tease” and that it won’t be much more than 1 minute long but will otherwise function as a trailer.

I wonder when they’ll release the real deal

  50. Knowing that this “tease” is not likely to be longer than 60 seconds does temper my expectations slightly. However, I’m still hoping that it will be epic! If by chance it isn’t … hey, HBO’s still been pretty good to us this week.

As for what I would like to see? It’s very simple: actual footage from Season 6. If we get that, I’ll be happy, even it’s shorter than we might like.

The fact that the so-called “teaser for the teaser” features only 10 seconds of the House of Black and White with no visible characters or dialogue does make me a little nervous. Don’t get me wrong – I love the Littlefinger-narrated “Chaos” promo that Pounce linked to earlier in the thread, as well as the Stannis-narrated “The Cold Winds Are Rising” teaser from Season 2. However, I feel like we’ve gotten several teasers in that style for Season 6 already. Both with the“We watch, we listen, and we remember” teaser that debuted back in December, and the House Stark/Lannister/Targaryen promos with the banners fit that pattern.

I can live with waiting until March for the standard two-minute trailer … as long as we get some new footage to dissect on Sunday. Promotional photos aside, we’re all going a little stir-crazy here. 😉

  51. Kilgore Tully: That would be baffling after the campaign to convince the world he’s dead. If anything we’ll get him on a pyre. Maybe some hints like Melisandre looking on suspiciously, or a tantalizing bit of dialogue about ToJ thrown in for readers.

Up thread I said I’d be okay with dragons. I take it back. I like your idea better. Wolves. I want to see wolves in the teaser. We always get dragons, the time for wolves has come.

  53. BunBunStark: Up thread I said I’d be okay with dragons. I take it back. I like your idea better. Wolves. I want to see wolves in the teaser. We always get dragons, the time for wolves has come.

    That would be awesome!

  54. Since its GoT, I’ll take what I can get (and hope that it’s a trailer).

But the idea of teasing a teaser? Ugh. Marketing has gone too far. I don’t need to be teased for the teaser of the thing that’s actually teasing the finished product.

  55. So it’s confirmed! Amazing! Now everyone will watch Vinyl :p

    I’m so excited! Can’t wait.

Considering the many cliffhangers and the fact that we already had a lot of promotional pics, a short teaser won’t be a problem to me.

  56. OMG. I can’t wait. This is awesome. 2 days to some type of tease/trailer/footage. I don’t care.

maybe Euron stepping onto the shores of Pyke will be in the tease somewhere. I want to see if they made him look like his book counterpart.
  57. I don’t know whether to be excited we’re finally getting something or frustrated that it’s not a full trailer. Especially since not knowing what’s going to happen this season is going to make analyzing the trailers so much more fun.

  58. People really need to calm down. Enjoy the pics, the teaser and the trailer as they come and when they come. The season starts in just 2 months. Do you think that’s a hard thing? Try awaiting 4-5 years for a book (thanks, George!).

  59. I wonder with all the speculation and sighting of kit harrison on sets, that hbo will just tease viewers. rather then put out something that would confirm many beliefs. just a thought. really not bothered about the trailer. more interested in seeing season 6 begin. roll on april 🙂

  60. Matthew The Dragon knight,

You can’t really compare those teasers to a GoT teaser.

GoT is a fantasy time period piece, which means lots of CGI and special effects are needed to complete the most juicy and memorable scenes of the show.

Because of this, GoT teasers will mostly be the bare bones of the season.

It will take a few more weeks, if not more, for the big 2 second clips of a finished CGI scenes to come out, be it Dragons, Dire Wolfs, White Walkers or CGI landscaping with armies.

Most shows get cut and edited and are done, GoT gets cut, edited and then shipped off to who knows where for the CGI magic to be put in.

So with that being said, I think we are lucky to even get a teaser this soon. And if this teaser includes any big fantasy or battle scene moments count your blessings.

But rest assured we will get 3 or more amazing trailers before April 24th, that will include all the amazing, holy shit, eye popping exciting 2sec clips of our favorite characters surrounded in all the splendor of the fantasy world of Westeros.

  61. LOL. HBO made bitches out of a lot of people. Chumps. A teaser for a teaser? C’mon, sons (and daughters).

  62. I just want a small glimpse of Tower of joy fight, won’t happen though, and if it does, Thank the seven…

  63. Arthur:

There will not be 3 full trailers. The Season premieres in 10 weeks. By the time the full trailer comes out we could be only 6-8 weeks before the premiere.

  64. HBO just uploaded a couple of teasers for their other shows that will premiere in the same night as GoT. Veep&Silicon. So expect this one to be like them. 30-50 seconds. Maybe a little bit of “Emmy advertising”

Y’know. If this show hadn’t been that popular they would have released it the same way as these. But now they are milking its hype every way possible. Arrrgghh.

  65. Arthur,

I think Matthew’s point was – if I may chime in – that generally speaking you can squeeze quite a lot of material in a one minute teaser if you want to. Also, teasers/trailers from earlier season always managed to be compelling without too many CGI effects. They will probably try to finish up a few though. Season 5 had that whole Harpy-coming-down sequence, for instance, and came out around 31st january. Season 4’s trailer came out very early in january and had very few CGI IIRC, but was still a good trailer IMO. So, I guess I gonna stay hyped til sunday night (well it will be monday by then)…

  66. Matthew The Dragon knight:
Also when they Write prepared to be Teased, I took that as, they’re going to show major Shit that will get us all pumped.

Yep, I took it to mean the same thing…
    1. Direwolves running?
    2.White Walkers?
    3. Dragons?
    4. Danny surrounded by flames?
    5. The Night’s Watch reciting “and now his Watch is ended”?
    6. Littlefinger and Sansa?
    7. Davos and Sansa?
    8. Mel and Sansa?
    9. Sansa and the Northern Lords?
    10. Theon at the Kingsmoot?
    11. Euron Greyjoy?
    12. Arya swinging a sword (while blind)?
    13. Bran and Bloodraven walking through a vision (with a Tower in the background) ?
    14. A glimpse of the episode 9 battle?
    15. Jaime and Brianne (at Riverrun)?
    16. Someone swinging Longclaw (off camera)?
    17. Snow in King’s Landing?
    18. Ian McShane as Septon Meribald?
    19. A hooded figure digging up a grave?
    20. A crack forms at the Wall?
    21. Mel using fire magic?
    22. Mel and Ghost?
    23. Ghost growling at the Night’s Watch?

  67. Wylie,

Oh yeah I agree, GoT is a character driven show that just happens to also have amazing fantasy elements.

I am just stating that we shouldn’t expect to see Drogon or Dire Wolfs or a White Walker army or any fantasy elements like that just yet…

But if we do, that would be freaking awesome!

  68. Drogon has healed and is hungry for a delicious dinner tease topped with some tasty Dothraki sauce.

  69. Arthur:
I am just stating that we shouldn’t expect to see Drogon or Dire Wolfs or a White Walker army or any fantasy elements like that just yet…

    Right. Got it! And agreed.
I still can’t help deluding myself into thinking that maybe one little snippet of something that isn’t as complicated as dragons or direwolves has been worked on the whole time, because they wanted it included in trailer 🙂

  70. Kilgore Tully,

Ha! My boyfriend doesn’t watch the show so I’m going to have to figure out a way to get a moment during the evening to watch the teaser. Though he did pass the test and watch last seasons finale with me! XD

  71. The Harpy being pulled down was almost exclusively a CGI shot, so whichever team handled it would have been able to work on it as soon as they got the description, and have it done by that early trailer. Compare that to the critter effects that need to be combined with live shots, and so are simply going to be started later. If we’re going to get any CGI it’ll probably be something akin to the Braavos/Titan shot or the shadow of Drogon flying over King’s Landing.

  72. Nymeria Warrior Queen: Yep, and can you imagine how many people are suddenly looking up Vinyl?

Give that Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese are involved with Vinyl, it’s probably pennies on the pound! Vinyl has been getting a lot of media attention in the general entertainment press, and a little bit beyond: this is going to be Nostalgia City for the Baby Boomers.

  73. Wylie: I still can’t help deluding myself into thinking that maybe one little snippet of something that isn’t as complicated as dragons or direwolves has been worked on the whole time, because they wanted it included in trailer

The people who put together the trailers work with what is ready for them, and the people making the show don’t really worry about which shots are trailer shots. Marketing and creative departments are completely separate, after all.

  74. Hodors Bastard: Drogon has healed and is hungry for a delicious dinner tease topped with some tasty Dothraki sauce.

Given their apparent lack of bathing habits, the sauce:meat ration might be quite high.

  75. The Drowned Goddess,

I have watched the show since the first season and have read all the books,so like you i know how to wait for the books, don’t talk to me in a condescending way because the only thing you’re doing is make yourself look like an asshole .

  76. Why can’t GoT be like Walking Dead and release their main trailer 2-3 months before the premiere? Excited for the teaser though. Hopefully we’ll get some new footage.

  77. If necessary I will pause sexual intercourse to watch the trailer live. He can wait. It’ll be good for him to learn a little patience. Right? I’m not weird or obsessive.

I am creating my own camp of looking forward to an animal-free trailer. No dragons or wolves or ravens or badgers or beetles. Thank you.

  78. Wimsey: The people who put together the trailers work with what is ready for them, and the people making the show don’t really worry about which shots are trailer shots.Marketing and creative departments are completely separate, after all.

Well, I wasn’t suggesting that David Benioff personally edits the trailer 🙂
I was talking about the marketing team. Where I work, marketing decides what key visuals they wanna use and then have a meeting with the trailer people to give them the material and talk about the “vibe”. But it’s a much smaller place and HBO is of another caliber entirely. I don’t know how those huge companies handle things, but I can’t help thinking that some marketing person would be informed about some of the key visuals from season 6 that can be used best to promote the upcomimg season. I mean, they are the client and should know the material they give away and in the end give their final blessing, I’d assume…

  79. Nymeria Warrior Queen:
Just yesterday morning many were thinking we’d get nothing, and while I (like many others) was convinced we’d get something with Vinyl, there was no way of knowing with any certainty.Suddenly, we got 20 new photos, and now today, an announcement we’ll get something on Sunday.I can’t bitch too much.

I will, however, preemptively summon Abyss, Maester of Gifs, and humbly beg of him to grace us with his gif magic at his earliest convenience (which may not be until the next day, as I believe his Maestership resides in Germany).

THIS exactly. I’ll be happy with whatever we get, and I join you in summoning the Great Abyss! High quality gifs to discuss for weeks! 🙂

As for what I want to see: Ian effing McShane and a large man in a monks robe with a limp!

Arthur: Even if the composites are not done, I would love to see some static cgi, like ToJ or Oldtown!

  80. I don’t want to see anything of Jon in the teaser – i want whatever they do to him to be fresh when the episode is shown.
But yes to a shot of Euron, an intriguing shot from Bran’s visions, a closer look at the new Dothraki actors, and something completely surprising. Some of the next stretch of storyline is pretty predictable based on where we left off last season, even with no book spoilers. It would be great to see something and think ‘what was that?!’

  81. Tyrion the Myrion:
    Piyush Sharma,
But we already got new footage in the HBO previews remember, now granted they were only a few seconds long but it’s not like these are going to be any longer, the texts alone will probably take 20 seconds of the time plus these boring glimpses with no character there like the one that they just showed,i mean Christ this one alone is 10 seconds long .

Do you mean the three tiny-tot trailers: Stark with Ramsey voiceover, Lannister with High Sparrow voiceover, and Targaryen with khal voiceover? I am almost certain that was not real footage from the season.

    Nymeria Warrior Queen:
Just yesterday morning many were thinking we’d get nothing, and while I (like many others) was convinced we’d get something with Vinyl, there was no way of knowing with any certainty.

When Sue the Fury confidently said this last Sunday, I figured getting a trailer this Sunday must be a sure thing:

But the trailer showing up with the debut of Vinyl has been a common guess for months. No inside source needed.

  82. Thronetender:
“Though the tweet says “tease,” it may be the actual full trailer rather than a brief teaser. Either way, we only have two days to wait to find out! What are you hoping to see in the Sunday night footage? ”

Sue, it’s not like you to tease US like this.Is this you hoping against hope, or a true ray of sunshine?

Sue strikes me as a pragmatist. I see her tapping her nose when she says comments like these.

  83. Ser Oromis Locke:
I want to see a direwolf stepping out of the darkness.. and then more wolves ominously join and we see a pack, a large pack..

Symbolism for the time for wolves?

    Love!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives.

  84. The official trailer of Season 5 was 2 minutes long and IMHO was pretty good? If they’re only going to air a ‘crappy teaser’ lasting a few seconds, a fat of use that will be and we’d still be none the wiser…. HBO – Please give us the REAL OFFICIAL Trailer We’ve all bloody waited long enough now 😉

I reckon HBO and D&D were well pissed off when the first 4 episodes of Season 5 leaked out and why this time so little has been released until now. I reckon it would easier to break into Fort Knox than the Titanic studios in Belfast – caw caw 😀

  85. (WARNING: You will be teased)

tease: to tantalize especially by arousing desire or curiosity often without intending to satisfy it

This part of the tweet makes me think and hope that what we get will be mind-blowingly frustrating and exciting at the same time, with lots of hints at theories we think are true, stopping just short of actual confirmation. I would love this sort of tease, actually, especially if they teased many different storylines. That would give us much to talk about for the coming weeks.

  86. Deesensfan: This euron person everyone’s been talking about better be good…. Lol so much hype and I’m curious to see why. If they showed him in the trailer, I would not even know. Lol

I am quite surprised to see so many people are so excited to see Euron, personally I found Euron and the whole Ironborn story line somewhat difficult to get through. At some points it almost felt like a punishment to read, I was very tempted to skip those parts. Most of the Ironborn are very typical two dimensional characters compared to the rest within the story.

But perhaps the Ironborn is something that would work better in a visual medium then in a written medium, or so I hope.

  87. I could see it being dark at first with a couple of lingering shots of people staring off into the distance (like Yara, Tyrion/Varys, Roose/Ramsay from the pics) as the voiceover comes in “And, so it begins…” fade to black for 2-3 seconds and we hear a sort of familar sounding Northern voice, “No, now it ends” and then about 20 quick cut images, most from those released yesterday but a few new frames to get everyone talking, including one each of Euron and Ian McShane with loud, intense percussion and then 4/24/16 flashes on the screen and FIN.

    No Jon Snow, no

Gravedigger, no Walder Frey, no Rickon, no Shae, no Blackfish/Edmure, basically nothing to give away to the casual/non-spoiled viewer that any of these people are/might be returning
  88. I think they are going to throw in a massive tease. The teaser will end on a huge cliffhanger. Look at the way they worded that tweet. Get hype folks.

  89. Not a big Ironborn fan so don’t really care about ECE depiction. I’ll take about anything though as long as it’s not some Raven flying over modern cities and landing on buildings.

Also, can anyone remember how many full length trailers HBO put out prior to season 5?

  90. Boudica: I am quite surprised to see so many people are so excited to see Euron, personally I found Euron and the whole Ironborn story line somewhat difficult to get through. At some points it almost felt like a punishment to read, I was very tempted to skip those parts. Most of the Ironborn are very typical two dimensional characters compared to the rest within the story.

Well, Euron is kind of like the ultimate pirate, I suppose, sort of like Bluebeard, Blackbeard, Captain Flint, Captain Hook and Long John Silver all combined; and I guess people like pirates?
What I find strange is why the Ironborn are back in such a big way after pretty much having been cut off the show for almost three seasons, now that we’re entering so-called “endgame” territory.

  91. I think it would be great fun (silly/over dramatic, but fun) to have a teaser where the camera pans through the Hall of Faces, and as it gets closer we see the faces of the show regulars in neat rows in the cubbies. Jaqen/Arya saying the “All men must die/All men must serve” shtick, and then *faces’ eyes open*.

  92. Black Raven,

I honestly think it’s going to be about a minute-long trailer. And then a full 2ish minute trailer will be released online. Either right afterward or sometime during the next week. I think they’re just really trying to take advantage of the shows popularity to launch a good debut for Vinyl.

  93. Black Raven: I reckon HBO and D&D were well pissed off when the first 4 episodes of Season 5 leaked

I recall HBO announcing that going forward , they were going to make critics use a password to screen episodes online and physical copies were no longer being sent out. I don’t know how anymore secure that will be. I wonder why they don’t make critics go to a screening room and watch a projected version, since I’m sure the HD would play just fine. That would take away the piracy issue.

  94. What I like to see in no particular order:
    Rheagar and Lyanna
    Arthur Dayne,Ned and TOJ
    How Brienne got her wound
    Sansa,Sansa,Sansa
    A Wolf Pack and lunch
    A hound,a Septon,a gimpy guy throwing dirt.

  95. There is a best case situation! I have some hope for a properly trailer-ish tease that is just like this one for the HBO film Long Lead:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEDv1pddnYw

It’s a minute long and has lots of dialogue and footage from multiple scenes. Much better than some other “teases” in the Youtube HBO channel that are shorter and taken from one scene in the show.

There will be no more burnings. Pray harder for good promo material.

  96. This is just HBO’s version of having their cake and eating it too.

They know that releasing a full GOT trailer in front of Vinyl would mean that everybody would be talking about GOT instead of Vynil the next day. A situation they understandably want to avoid.

But they also know, as many had pointed out, that everything GOT related tend to attract people and that releasing something in front of Vynil would probably boost the audience for the premiere of that show. So there you go : let’s just air an useless teaser.

I’m pretty sure it will be disappointing… But it doesn’t matter too much to me since the full trailer shouldn’t be too far away anyway.

  97. Relax, it will be done with it’s done 😉

Last year, the first trailer felt kind of rushed (even though it had Bowie’s “Heroes”, which in retrospect was uncannily prescient). This year the filming took longer than ever before.

  98. I really hope it’s more then ten seconds unless the full trailer is the next day. Regardless I will watch the teaser at least 111 times.

  99. I’m absolutely certain that at 8:59 there will a brief teaser that will say that a full trailer will air after Vinyl.

  100. Ginevra,

OT: I’ve been reading the first book of the three you had recommended me and I like it a lot, especially the style. I’m so sorry I have a hectic time at work and I can’t manage to read as much as I’d like to.

  101. The Drowned Goddess: First of all

first thing…. this is a tv show, not a book. Two I don’t care about you book readers, that’s your problem. Here we talk about Game of Thrones TV show. You book readers give yourself too much importance, like the world is spinning around you.

  102. Boudica,

I’m not excited for Euron at all. I think he is quite a poor character, who people like just because he is ”cool’, giving ”badass” one-liners and so one.

But I wasn’t excited for Oberyn either, before S4. I taught Oberyn in the books to be a good character but nothing outstanding. Pedro and the way they wrote him, made me LOVE Oberyn!

So I’m not at all excited for Euron because he is a good character, I think he is quite a bad one honestly, same with all the Ironborn.
What I’m excited is Pilou and seeing how they write him.

and I’m more excited for scenes that we din’t get it the books. Hopefully a Balon/Euron one, possibly a Theon/Euron scene and so one.
  103. I made a countdown to the tease. I’ll probably sleep when it airs and read about it in the morning on Watchers on the Wall, like normal GoT fans in Europe. That’s what we probably do, right?

  104. Yaga,

No matter how they write him, I just pray too god that they don’t give him blue lips and an eye-patch…

If they do, they could also throw a damn parrot in the mix for the hell of it.

  105. Ravyn: I wonder why they don’t make critics go to a screening room and watch a projected version, since I’m sure the HD would play just fine. That would take away the piracy issue.

I’m assuming that the critics are spread all over the world and face-to-face screenings of every episode would be cost-prohibitive.

  106. A 50 sec teaser with 30 seconds of snippets, the remainder being graphics, logos and texts. Hopefully some dialogue will be included.
I’d love for a one second glimpse of the Tarly dinner.

  107. ghost of winterfell,

That’s funny, I stopped watching TWD last year because it was getting extremely boring lol. It got replaced with GoT(I didn’t watch or read until Feb last year), Vikings, and Peaky Blinders. All three of which are superior shows, imo. Whoever wrote that article was bought off, or doesn’t have even the slightest grasp of understanding a story.

  108. ghost of winterfell,

Yeah, I read that too. And while I watch and like TWD (their S6 has been quite riveting this far IMO), nothing good can come of an article like that. What was he thinking? It’s like some sort of embarrassing dick measuring contest. Also some of his arguments about GoT feel a bit forced.

Apart from that, I’m quite curious how the first episodes of S6 will be received by critics.

In the end, it’s probably best to look at S5 and 6 as one big middle part. I assume that some of the newly introduced storylines from S5 will draw to a close (e.g. Sansa and the Boltons, Cersei and the Sparrows, Arya and the Faceless).

  109. I enjoy TWD and am looking forward to the season’s resumption BUT it is becoming formulaic: characters’ fortunes seem to be on the up then it all goes to shit before they drag themselves out of the abyss – in the process losing a couple of the main cast; rinse and repeat.

That said TWD is well done and there aren’t too many dud episodes but the two series don’t really stand comparison with one being completely contemporary/breakdown of civilisation and the other pseudo-historical/fantasy. And one focused for the main part on one group (even if sometimes separated); and the other on many storylines which sometimes interweave over very long arcs.

I’ll happily watch both series (and own both boxsets), but it’s a bit like comparing Downton Abbey with The Wire – you can do it but why?

  110. I still can’t believe there’s people in this universe actually comparing TWD to GoT. It really is baffling. I’ve no idea how anyone could possibly rationalize that discussion.
And this is coming from someone who still watches TWD (albeit masochistically).

  111. Yaga,

It would be perfect though. Walking around and getting it stuck in a hole on the deck with laughter from the crew that sounds like an old man whistle-laugh. D&D pls lol

  112. The first time i read AFFC and the description of Euron and the other IronBorn characters came about in my head i was like “What the hell was Martin thinking when he made all these tacked on characters so cliche and boring” i had problems with his writing in previous books but it was never the case with the characters, the characters always were mostly distinct and original but from AFFC onwards all has gone to shit, don’t even make me mention atrocities like Darkstar or that other guy who looks like a Targaryen,i forgot his name, the bastard who stole Cersei’s ships .

  113. Kosten:

And this is coming from someone who still watches TWD (albeit masochistically).

I still enjoy The Walking Dead even though nearly all of the criticisms people lay on it are justified. And I rewatch the series once or twice a year. I don’t see myself rewatching GOT ever. Different strokes.

  114. Cumsprite: I still enjoy The Walking Dead even though nearly all of the criticisms people lay on it are justified. And I rewatch the series once or twice a year. I don’t see myself rewatching GOT ever. Different strokes.

I can rewatch both, but neither is a very happy experience – not the kind of shows to watch if you suffer from depression!

  115. Eh, not really looking forward to out of context shoots of main character looking forlornly at things we can’t see while vague voice overs that make the show sound generic (“I wonder…if this is the PRICE…for our SINS.”) playing over a frankly terrible song choice (“HEROES works, right? You could be queen, I could be king, this show has kings and queens right?”).

  116. chika,
    Watch Black Sails.

The show has a way of toning down Martin’s stupidest characters (I’m looking at you, Daario Naharis). So I’m pretty sure Euron will be OK.

  117. Tyrion the Myrion: No, I meant the HBO 2016 preview video, the one with Cersei, Ramsay and I think Jaime .

Oh! I thought you meant at least 20 seconds of footage. I misread your post. I hardly count those three seconds at all since they contained barely enough information for three stills.

  118. Shy Lady Dragon,

I’m so glad you’ve started, and I hope you’re enjoying it. I know what you mean about time. (Is this fourth post going to be ambiguous enough to avoid the sensors?)

  119. Ginevra,

    It seems it survived 😉
I really enjoy the book: the characters, the style, the atmosphere. I must admit I was shocked when the poor dog was killed. I know it was meant to protect the boy, but…
I can’t stand when animals die. In GOT when Lady and especially Grey Wind died… What happened to him and to Robb was a sacrilege, I think Robb dead, with the wolf head it’s the most horrible for me to watch.
And I fear for Ghost 🙁

  120. Yaga,

I heard that was worth a watch but I haven’t seen it yet. I do like pirate/viking stuff so I might finally check it out. Yeah they’ve toned down a lot in the show, which I think is cool. No blue beards here.

  121. Arthur:

I think you are really underestimating their post production department. The screeners will be going out in about 6 weeks. I think they are farther along then you think.

  122. ion,

I really like Benioff. He is funny and seems more approachable that Weiss. Maybe the latter is just shy, I don’t know.

  123. Rhaenys Stark,

Based on interviews, I also agree

Weiss seems like a cranky pants. Lol

But they are both awesome for creating this masterpiece of a show based on another masterpiece
We are blessed to have them both! 🙂

  124. Just a reminder, to those who forgot and to those who haven’t heard.
The Writers Guild awards 2016 are tonight and game of thrones is up for two writing awards.

Game of thrones and the competition, it’s good, Fine company indeed ^^

  125. Laura: “And, so it begins…” fade to black for 2-3 seconds and we hear a sort of familiar sounding Northern voice, “No, now it ends” and then about 20 quick cut images…

    Cool idea. Thx.

Maybe they could do something with Arya’s blindness and enhanced perception as well…

  126. Deesensfan: dimensional characters compared to the rest within the story.

Jack also Loves to keep updated on the awards, it’s always nice when the cast and crew get recognized for the amazing work they do, even if it’s just a nomination. Game of Thrones keeps some fine company with it, I didn’t even know about some of these until Watchers on the wall made the award articles, So Cheers, and Wish Thrones Luck tonight at the awards 🙂

  127. I wouldn’t mind if GoT loses out to ‘The Americans’ – that’s a very underrated series IMO and the 3rd season was hidden away here in the UK on a streaming on service in a cynical move to lure people onto it. Wouldn’t want it to lose to the others though.

As for Episodic Drama in all fairness I haven’t seen any of the other nominated episodes, but ‘Mother’s Mercy’ was my fave of season 5.

  128. Laura:
“And, so it begins…” “No, now it ends”

While I am super stoked about the ToJ this year, this line might become the new “Your sister”. It works on page, but I don’t know if it works that well on screen. Could sound a bit cheesy. But then, I guess it depends on the delivery… Talking of actors, I wouldn’t mind a glimpse of that ToJ swordfight to finally know who plays who.

  129. Ser Not Appearing in this Series,

Yeah, GoT has some great company there. „International Assassin“ (The Leftovers) was highly praised as well IIRC. I’m not a huge fan of the show, but I watch it and can see why it would be nominated. Lindeloff might actually take it home.

Sadly, I couldn’t really get into „The Americans“. I hear so many good things, but tried it twice and never made it past episode five 🙁

  130. Ser Not Appearing in this Series:

I’ll write down the winners regardless for both categories that game of thrones are nominated in, just in case another show people watch wins.

    Wylie,

I agree, I don’t know how the original writing will sound on the show, some thing where probably changed around.

  131. The camera slowly zooms onto the wall of faces and ….there’s Jon’s face in one of the recesses.

…I don’t think so; but, it would certainly send the Web into a tailspin!

  132. Anon:
The camera slowly zooms onto the wall of faces and ….there’s Jon’s face in one of the recesses.

…I don’t think so; but, it would certainly send the Web into a tailspin!

I wouldn’t like that very much lol would be cool though lol

  133. Wylie,

I believe The Drama series Category is between game of thrones, Mr Robot, and The Americans, it’s anyone’s award at this point, for episodic, I hope Mother’s Mercy wins.

  134. ion:
Guys, am I the only one who thinks jon snow is dead and stays dead?

no, there are others like you.
I meet them all the time XD

  135. Yaga,

The only IB I tend to like are Theon, Asha ( she’s smart and knows they need to farm and end reaving) and Rodrick Harlaw the Reader.

  136. I’ve given up on the trailer showing a giant wave ridding us of the Greyjoy plotline, though I will admit to thinking Yar-sha was staring at the coming tsunami in that still. I guess it might be interesting in an academic way to see if the show can keep the ironborn silliness from being even more boring that Bran’s walk in the woods.

  137. Wylie:
Ser Not Appearing in this Series,

Yeah, GoT has some great company there. „International Assassin“ (The Leftovers) was highly praised as well IIRC. I’m not a huge fan of the show, but I watch it and can see why it would be nominated. Lindeloff might actually take it home.

Sadly, I couldn’t really get into „The Americans“. I hear so many good things, but tried it twice and never made it past episode five

Season 1 of The Americans was very average, quite so-so. I struggled through it. But season 2 really takes off into brilliance. I’ve yet to see season 3.

  138. I think people are expecting too much from Euron. I too think he’ll be awesome, but I doubt we’ll see him that much. He will only be really teased this season (3 or 4 episodes) before coming to the fore next season.

  139. I hope the teaser isn’t just in that House of Black & White. I thought it was one of the most dullest places they’ve filmed in. Too dark and nowt going on.

  140. The Writers Guild awards should be fun regardless on who ends up taking the award.
But just for the hell of it, Go Thrones!!!!!

  141. Dazzatron221b:
I hope the teaser isn’t just in that House of Black & White. I thought it was one of the most dullest places they’ve filmed in. Too dark and nowt going on.

that short clip indicates that the teaser might be just about that. That would be bad:(…

  142. Matthew The Dragon knight: Jack also Loves to keep updated on the awards, it’s always nice when the cast and crew get recognized for the amazing work they do, even if it’s just a nomination. Game of Thrones keeps some fine company with it, I didn’t even know about some of these until Watchers on the wall made the award articles, So Cheers, and Wish Thrones Luck tonight at the awards

Yeah I’ll be following the WGA’s tonight too 🙂

    Anon:

…I don’t think so; but, it would certainly send the Web into a tailspin!

If the teaser only consists of the HoBaW, I’ll be disappointed.

  143. taim: that short clip indicates that the teaser might be just about that. That would be bad:(…

Yeah I’m a little worried now. I really hope we see clips of multiple storylines.

  144. ion:
I think the teaser will probably have 45 seconds ….

Remember that the last 15 seconds or so will be the GoT logo and and the graphics like “4.24.16” or the date for the full trailer. That leaves us with about 30 seconds and that clip of the HoBaW was already 10 seconds and that clip wasn’t finished. This really might just be HoBaW.

  145. i’m not thinking about the teaser much, it will come when it comes and i’ll watch it.
what it contains, i’m sure will be important to season 6.

  146. Anon:
    Jack Bauer 24,

…which makes me wonder why they’d use the hall of faces on this teaser..or sneak or whatever they call it.It must be something important.

Yeah you are right… HBO should stop bullshitting us. But to be fair, Netlfix is far worse from this point of view. They gave us the house of card trailer with only 3 weeks before it airs. Also they still hasn’t given us any trailer for daredevil that will be out in a month. If I remember correctly they gave us a jessica jones trailer with 3 weeks or so before it aired.

  147. Abyss:
    Nymeria Warrior Queen,

True, I’m in Germany, but do you really think I will not stay up for this? I can handle a day on sleep deprivation.

    You are a good man.
Mayhaps your dedication will put you in line for a Grand Masetership.
    Methinks it well deserved!

It has a nice ring to it, don’t you think…Grand Maester Abyss. 🙂

  148. Jeb: I think people are expecting too much from Euron. I too think he’ll be awesome, but I doubt we’ll see him that much. He will only be really teased this season (3 or 4 episodes) before coming to the fore next season.

This. I think one big reason (among quite a few others) that people reacted so poorly to the Sand Snakes & Dorne in S5 was due to how central they were in the S5 promotional materials despite being minor characters.

Euron falls into a similar category.

It will undoubtedly be cool to see another book character that has been MIA from the show, but Euron plays a relatively small role. I’d rather just enjoy the character’s inclusion as is, than over-hype his presence.

  149. Jack Bauer 24,

Which is why I’m not feeling it. This “tease” sounds like a farce to me. Majority of people don’t care if it’s well done or not, they just want to see the real shit at this juncture.

  150. Wylie

He has the potential to surprise people like Pedro. And also, we’ve spent so much time with the regular characters it’s good to get someone new played by a charismatic actor. Unlike the SS, he goes into an already developed area for the viewer. The introduction should be smoother.

  151. Wylie: Laura:
“And, so it begins…” “No, now it ends”

While I am super stoked about the ToJ this year, this line might become the new “Your sister”. It works on page, but I don’t know if it works that well on screen. Could sound a bit cheesy. But then, I guess it depends on the delivery… Talking

As with any line, it depends on whom delivers it and how. You know there are some actors in this show who could read the phone book or the McDonald’s menu and make it sound amazing. Charles Dance, Sean, Lena come first to mind. I love love Lena on Kimmel doing those “Cersei” skits. She knows/does that character to the depths of wherever Cersei’s soul is. Aiden/Littlefinger delivered that Chaos is a Ladder bit perfectly. From someone else mouth, that really could have come out as cheese. There was Karsi, who made people love her inside of 15 seconds. Her look was perfect, her facial expressions and stance perfect, her delivery was dead-on. Karsi’s lines were nothing super-special, but she made them sound that way.

I’d love to hear that Now it ends line done right. We know Sean could do it, but you are right, it needs a perfect delivery from whomever has to say it to make it iconic.

  152. The Ironborn are awesome. If you think they’re boring than I. Fact it is YOU who is boring.

How can you not like Viking-Pirates who worship Cthulhu?? They are possibly the most well developed culture in the books & their 4 pov characters are fantastic & fun. The show has made them lame. Euron better redeem the horriblly weak depiction of the ironborn on the show this far.

  153. Damp Hair, The Prophet,

Wow you really make a case for their storyline with this response……..not ! We are allowed to like or dislike anyone if we think their characters are poorly written . And no the show hasn’t made them lame, they are lame in the books, everytime a Ironborn chapter came about i just wanted to skip it because i knew it would be shit . The only Ironborn characters that i like are Theon and somewhat Asha .

  154. GotJoJo,

It’s the same model, so they probably just repainted it because of demand. Which works out great for me; I was disappointed to get Renly instead of Tywin but now have the only model exclusive to the in memoriam set.

  155. Thronetender,

I really love Karsi, I mean I’d join a sorority to be her sister 🙂
I almost completely agree with you, except for Karsi’s lines not being special. Her lines were witty and full of common sense, denoting courage and spontaneity. “I fuckin’ hate Thenns!” That’s what everyone, possibly even the other wildlings, were thinking. But she was the only one who stated this, simply but showing determination and being funny in the same time. And about her ancestors, who had no power to shape tradition any longer when survival was at stake: “So would mine, but fuck ’em, they’re dead!”
OK, I’ll stop before writing a whole essay about Karsi… but I’m looking forward to watch Vinyl and Brigitte is one of the main reasons.

  156. Rolling Knight: The Pink Letter.

If that happens, then circumstances will be very different. Thorne (presumably) will be in charge, and he no doubt would reply that he’ll be happy to ship them back if/when they arrive. (In the books, it’s purpose was to

hasten Jon’s execution, as Marsh et al. realized that it was then or never:

but I am betting that Ramsay is going to find allies among the Nationalists at the Wall, both on TV and in the books.

Damp Hair, The Prophet: How can you not like Viking-Pirates who worship Cthulhu?? They are possibly the most well developed culture in the books & their 4 pov characters are fantastic & fun. heh, even in the “Did Dorne or the Iron Islands Suck More?” debate, very few people suggested that either were any good: most of agreed that both were awful. (But it was very important to repeatedly post why one was worse than the other! 😀 ) Theon is an interesting character who has been a big part of both stories in which he was a part, but his sister and his uncle are deadly dull, and both really dragged down their parts of Crows and Dragons by being redundant contributions to the story and doing nothing to further any plots important to the main characters.

Pounce: Majority of people don’t care if it’s well done or not, they just want to see the real shit at this juncture

We are not getting Genuine Feces until the season starts! Neither a teaser nor a full trailer will tell us much. We’ll get a a couple of lucky guesses that correctly predict what some scenes mean, and we’ll get dozens and dozens of “This can only mean X!” statements that will prove to be wildly wrong (and that will prove themselves wrong when someone posts “This can only mean Y!” in regard to the same thing!)

Indeed, we will be more in the dark than ever because we know very few of the narrative details of Winter, and fan speculation about what will happen is very (very!) far from any kind of a consensus.

Thronetender: We know Sean could do it, but you are right, it needs a perfect delivery from whomever has to say it to make it iconic.

This is such an overused line that it’s not going to be “iconic” no matter how it is delivered. Indeed, I hope that it is cut: this line or ones very similar to it are such a standard close to the obligatory “Hero vs. Nemesis” pre-climax banter that it will almost sound a parody.

  157. Damp Hair, The Prophet,

    YMMV, I guess. Though

Long John Silver is a more interesting and multi-dimensional pirate than book Euron,

and the real-life sons of Ragnar Lothbrock would’ve overrun the iron born with their Great Pagan Army. I wouldn’t mind seeing Ivar the Boneless and

Victarion (whom it seems may be cut)

    on a road trip, however.

  158. Henry Gordon,

Not to mention, Long John Silver had an entire chain of fast-food fish “restaurants” named after him. 🙂

Full disclosure: I did used to love their hush puppies.

  159. Is there a live blog for the Writers Guild Awards tonight available? I googled it but couldn’t find anything.

  160. Rhaenys Stark,

Don’t worry, it usually airs later tonight right before it starts, i’ll post it for those who would like to keep updated on the event. no worries.
    Go Thrones.

  161. Dorne is boring. Sam is boring. Book Bran is boring. These are opinions. But to say as a literary criticism that the Ironborn are not a well developed culture says more about you than GRRM.

Yara assaulting the Dreadfort is one of the worst sequences in the history of the show.

The IB have been severely shit on in the show and as one of their MANY fans, I’m hoping season 6 & Euron improve upon that.

  162. The Writers Guild Awards are tonight. GoT is nominated for Drama Series, and there’s also “Mother’s Mercy” for the episodic drama award. Let’s see how this pans out 😉

  163. Luka Nieto,

    GO THRONES GO!!!!!!
Producers guild awards, Directors guild awards, The Writers Guild awards will be a good send off to the past seasons award season 🙂
I’ve been watching Season 5 of game of Thrones, and it’s been really enjoyable, I do recommend watching it again for those who didn’t like it, but I enjoy anything game of thrones related, so what do I know XD

  164. Matthew The Dragon knight: I’ve been watching Season 5 of game of Thrones, and it’s been really enjoyable, I do recommend watching it again for those who didn’t like it, but I enjoy anything game of thrones related, so what do I know XD

But I’ve been reliably informed by obnoxious people on the internet that this last season was shit. You’re telling me… they’re wrong???

  165. In the meantime, there are some BAFTA pre-parties happening. Charles Dance, Emilia Clarke and Gwendoline Christie seem to be there.

  166. Luka Nieto: But… but… I’ve been reliably informed by obnoxious people on the internet that this last season was shit. You’re telling me… they’re wrong???

No, they aren’t wrong, you just can’t see that because you’re…

    a. a poser
    b. a fucking moron
    c. came late to the books, therefore, are a fucking moron poser

ok – that was a fairly lame attempt at emulating some of aforementioned obnoxius internet people, but, well, at least it’s in the ballpark. 🙂

  167. Just in case it was in any way unclear, I was being sarcastic, Luka. I don’t think you’re any of those things.

  168. WINNER – EPISODIC DRAMA – “Uno,” Better Call Saul – Vince Gilligan & Peter Gould
Huge breaking bad and better Call Saul fan, so I have no problems with this lol

  169. Deesensfan,

Yup rewatches are fun, you either always or sometimes find something you haven’t when you first watched it. I always seem to appreciate something more when going back to it a second time.

  170. Cersei’s Brain,

it’s a well written episode, the first episode of the series I believe. from my point of view had some great writing, but overall I enjoyed Mother’s Mercy more, but that’s my opinion, to be honest it could have been anyone’s award. we have so many great dramas.

  171. winners is “SAND HILL SHUFFLE” CLAY TARVER’S EPISODE FROM HBO’S SILICON VALLEY.

  172. For those who are Gamers.
WINNER – Outstanding Achievement in Video Game Writing – Rise of the Tomb Raider

  173. Okay…just checked out the WGA winners and …General Hospital? Is that show even still on? I mean, how many Daytime Dramas are there left? Two?

  174. As NYC announced..and their show is over….Veep won best comedy and Mad Men won best drama.

  175. Matthew The Dragon knight:
    Luka Nieto,

I’ve been watching Season 5 of game of Thrones, and it’s been really enjoyable, I do recommend watching it again for those who didn’t like it, but I enjoy anything game of thrones related, so what do I know XD

Yeah same. I’ve enjoyed it a lot more after a rewatch, especially episodes like Mother’s Mercy, where on first viewing, I was just pissed at the amount of cliffhangers they left us with, but never completely appreciated how amazing the performances were. Even for Winterfell, I thought Sophie, Alfie, Michael, and Iwan all gave incredible performances last season despite the changes from the books. It’s going to be very intriguing going into Season 6, nearly in the dark about what’s going to happen because while we do have a good amount of spoilers, I think there’s definitely going to be a lot of surprises along the way, some that might make us curse at the screen, but I was doing that in Season 1 and 2 before I read the books.

  176. Damp Hair, The Prophet:
Dorne is boring.Sam is boring.Book Bran is boring. These are opinions. But to say as a literary criticism that the Ironborn are not a well developed culturesays more about you than GRRM.

I don’t think people are talking culture so much as the characters within the culture. I love, “What is dead may never die.” That’s one of my favorite repeated phrases from the series. But I do agree that we’ve not seen depth of character development in the Ironborn beyond Theon and possibly Yara that George devotes to so many of his characters.

I agree that the one scene with Yara leading her men to run from dogs really sucked, but that’s the only scene I recall where they truly messed up more than the books.

  177. Jack Bauer 24,

Yes! I do think the little tease of them saying “prepare to be teased” means they’re giving us some kind of bone to chew on. I won’t be home so I’ll have to record and hopefully it gets all the commercials in there!

  178. Vikings on the History channel is how I get my Ironborn fix, not HBO. It’d be nice if season 6 changed that somewhat.

*(& sortof Black Sails on Starz)

  179. Damp Hair, The Prophet,

No,the only thing this says is that you are a douchebag who can’t handle that people don’t like the same characters that you do,stop trying, you’re not convincing anyone especially with your lame responses .

  180. Damp Hair, The Prophet,

I never said I didn’t like the Ironborn culture, I like it. But only when it’s in relation with Theon’s story, one of my favourite characters by the way, and his conflict of choosing between his real family and his adoptive one.
Choosing between doing his duty to his father and betraying the adoptive family that raised him.

and soon I belive it will be between choosing to press his claim on the II or not

But I find Euron, Asha and Victarion to be very, very poorly written characters. Victarion the most and Asha gets a bit better later one but not much.
Not everyone has the same opinions, something you seam unable too realize/accept.
I find Sam’s story quite good, same with Bran’s. And neither do I think the Yara scene was the abomination you make it out too be. It was rushed, that I can agree with but I liked her small scene with Theon, realizing her brother was gone. It could have been longer but there is only so much you can do in 10 houres, especially when it’s on a side-story.

The real reason why I commented on this tough is your affirmation that this ”says more about me”, yes it does, it says I have a different opinion then you.
This reminds me of the rabid attacks and insults I recived on the other site, where I was told ” I was simply not smart enough to realize how good the story is in the books and how bad it is in the show”, witch is frankly what you said now.

  181. Damp Hair, The Prophet,
Honestly, the Ironborn are just another group of macho men to me. ‘Waaaaa, look at me, look at how manly I am, reaving and robbing and raping and pillaging!’ That’s boring. Even the ‘how to be a woman/nonmanly man who wants to advance in such a society’ (which is what Yara, Theon and Rodrik, the only at all sympathetic people of the bunch, are about) part is boring to me, because it’s been played out so many times on the show already. We’ve already had that with Arya, Brienne, Tyrion, Cersei, Dany… Littlefinger. Jaime.
I mean, on some level, it is pretty funny that their macho culture has repeatedly driven them into subsistence-level poverty and will let Euron abuse them even further before Dany ends up feeding all those manly men to Drogon (and, I mean, it seems that between Astapor, the Dothraki and the Ironborn, Dany will be doing wonders in purging the misogynist gene pool). But on another level, another round of ‘no, you are a woman and so we won’t be listening to you’? Uff, just get over it, Martin, already. At least, as I said before, the show has at least thankfully cut the Victarion bullshit. Euron will, hopefully, have some importance going forward before he ends up being dragonfodder (delivering Sam to Dany, being the cause of the death of one of her dragons…).

  182. By the way, does anyone here outside US now of a website to watch hbo live??
I used to watch on stream2watch but it’s not working anymore.

  183. Joffrey’s Cunt:
By the way, does anyone here outside US now of a website to watch hbo live??
I used to watch on stream2watch but it’s not working anymore.

I’m sure the trailer will be uploaded to the Game of Thrones Youtube channel a few minutes after it’s aired on HBO, so I wouldn’t worry.

    HotPinkLipstick,

    https://33.media.tumblr.com/047a3fb868caa569ae2432c083f2fa7c/tumblr_inline_n6ngg3PFX51szj4b9.gif

As for Mad Men winning Best Drama, while I prefer Game of Thrones, and for how uneven I thought Mad Men became, they certainly ended on a very, very high note, imo, so I can’t begrudge it too much.I thought that ending so brilliant.

The awards seem to have been divvied around this time quite a lot so it suggests that nothing has been truly outstanding in the last year.

Gave up on ‘Mad Men’ after 4 seasons, mainly watched it because of the high praise it kept getting but it did nothing for me. Hope to catch ‘Better Call Saul’ sometime if it ever makes it to a free to view channel.

I see these awards people didn’t fall for ‘True Detective’ season 2 at all – which is reassuring for those of us who thought it didn’t live up to the first season – even though we were told by afficionados that we who disliked it said we’re not clever enough to see what the writer was doing 😉

  185. Luka Nieto,

Yeah I know man, I was just asking in advance not only for that, but also for when the actual episodes air.
I know that is piracy, but I can’t wait 2 days till it comes out on my cable tv. I’m too addicted to this to be able to wait that long, at least for a first view xD
So I would like to know if any of you guys out of the US know of some live streaming website?
However, let me make this clear, I always end up watching it legally after, always!
Not only for the quality of course, but for the respect I have for the show.

  186. Joffrey’s Cunt,

Probably not allowed to speak about this here, I’m afraid. I’ll just say: torrents. Just wait a few minutes after it airs and you’ll be able to watch it in its proper quality instead of a shitty livestream.

  187. Luka Nieto,

Yeah I know what you mean. I also do that but in the next day before I watch it on tv later. In portugal at the time it airs it’s 2am, and as an architecture student I usually go to bed late, like 3am. So if I could find a live streaming of it, even if it’s a shitty quality, that would be perfect timing, And I would sleep a lot better after 🙂

  188. Daredevil just released a teaser for the FULL trailer tomorrow, I have a feeling that tonight’s Game of Thrones tease is for the FULL trailer tomorrow.

  189. Did anyone notice the Wilding standing behind the horses in the Melisandre picture? If that is what I think I see, that would have to mean the Nights Watch have been eliminated or at least the mutineers. My guess, that’s Sansa’s cape showing in the bottom left of the photo. With Jon Snow/Stark/Targerian on the horse behind. You can see the white top of Longclaw in the picture.

This is what I see and I’m excited to see if I’m right when the season begins.

  190. Vegodread: This is what I see and I’m excited to see if I’m right when the season begins.

If your interpretations are correct, then it still does not necessarily mean that the mutiny is put down early in the season. Yes, the Nationalists have deposed Jon, and, yes, he probably will restore himself. However, from purely a storytelling perspective, I would be very surprised if Jon overthrows the Nationalists early in the season. Instead, I would look for this to be another Jon/Daeny parallel. Just has Daeny betrayed Dothraki custom by striking out on her own after Khal Drogo died, Jon has betrayed his Nightwatch vows by letting the Wildlings into Westeros. Both did it with good reason: but both are dealing with people who don’t believe that there are any reasons good enough for doing this and/or who will not believe the stated reasons.

To cut to the chase, this could easily be from the very end of the season: when Jon and the Loyalists retake the Wall from the Nationalists. At this point, I expect the defeat of the Nationalists and the defeat of the Boltons to be linked to each other.

Nymeria Warrior Queen: c. came late to the books, therefore, are a fucking moron poser

If there had been an “All of the Above,” then would that have meant that he was all of those things squared?

  191. Ser Not Appearing in this Series: The awards seem to have been divvied around this time quite a lot so it suggests that nothing has been truly outstanding in the last year.

heh, this is where the dual use of “outstanding” as a relative term (one that stands out) and an absolute term (really, really good) is important. This could well be a case where because there were several outstanding series last year, there was no one outstanding series.

    😎

  192. HotPinkLipstick,

Hahahaha! You-all are younger than me. Luke and Laura (and Scotty’s return!) was college for me…and, yep, it is still on. My Mom watched it way back when it started and I was a tiny tot–that and “Dark Shadows.” <–REALLY aging myself with that one. 😉

  193. Ashara D,

In my day, “dark shadows” was the black stuff between our cave paintings of Luke and Laura!

But you might have a year or two on me-when “is Jon snow dead?” became the biggest cliffhanger in 2 generations, all I could think was

    It was Kristen!
  194. Wimsey,

I really hope the Nationalists don’t stick around til the end of the season. Jon needs to move on from the NW quick and I see no reason why or how the nationalists would survive post Jon’s “rebirth”. The nationalists number at 20 or so people, maybe 30, Wun Wun alone can kill half of that by himself let alone the rest of the wildlings/loyalists. It’ll be pretty silly if Jon isn’t able to dispatch them quickly.

  195. Bearded Onion: The nationalists number at 20 or so people, maybe 30, Wun Wun alone can kill half of that by himself let alone the rest of the wildlings/loyalists. It’ll be pretty silly if Jon isn’t able to dispatch them quickly.

But what if they are not alone? The Nationalists moved against Jon knowing that the Wildlings owed Jon a huge debt: and with some of them genuinely suspecting that Jon was, in truth, a Wildling plant.

So, why strike when they did or even at all given that they had to think that this could quickly lead to the Wildlings eradicating them? My suspicion is that they have reinforcements from the North. In the books,

there are a lot of Northerners at the Wall, and they are are not happy about Jon letting the Wildlings through.

. We’ve gone round and round on these boards about how things will fall out in the books: how much of the NW will side with the Nationalists, how much with the Loyalists? Will the skeleton crew of Stannis’ people side with one or the other or sit out? (In the books, they were none too pleased with either.) We guessed where the many Wildlings’ loyalties would go. But: what about the other party that was present in numbers? Were they in with the Nationalists all along?

I now suspect that they were. And that is why I suspect: Thorne was waiting until help arrived.

(And, of course, there are pure storytelling issues here: namely, if you do something major like this without it creating long-term plots, then people criticize it as being pointless in the end!)

  196. Ashara D: Luke and Laura (and Scotty’s return!) was college for me…and, yep, it is still on.

Ah, you are the same age as me! One of my ex-girlfriends in college watched that show religiously.

Wait: you aren’t one of my ex-girlfriends from college, are you? Did the judge’s restraining order cover internet?

    😀

  197. Wimsey,

Looks like they killed him later that same day when everyone would be sleeping. They couldn’t prevent Jon/wildlings from entering as everyone would see Thorne betraying the watch in broad day light, would be too risky plus they could just take the boats around the wall and punish Thorne. I think it would be great if Roose had sent Thorne a letter promising resources and men for killing Jon but I reckon Thorne and co killed him as soon as they could and pin it on some wildling.

  198. HotPinkLipstick,

It’s good to know my girls can still win me friends. 🙂

    #boandhopeforever

    Luka Nieto,

I figured it was pretty clear, but given I don’t tend to call people “fucking morons” around here, even in jest, when I read back my post I thought…ok…that sounds a bit harsh. 🙂

  199. Pounce:
    http://vk.com/video133486390_171482061?z=video133486390_171456346%2Fvideos133486390%2Fpl_133486390

    I was right. What a travesty….

That’s so incredibly shitty. I mean, it’s well produced but… come on. That we aren’t actually getting any new footage by mid February is a bit ridiculous. Even the first tease with Bran’s and the raven’s voiceover had new stuff, their lines! And the Banner teasers, too! This was just silly… CG faces of the characters with lines from previous seasons. It’s not even much of a tease! It’s looking back on previous seasons instead of teasing the future!

  200. Luka Nieto,

Yep my friend…..thankfully I was prepared to be disappointed. Do you think we’ll ever get a trailer with actual footage ?

A lot of people are going to be pissed. HBO take us for fools.

  201. Pounce: Do you think we’ll ever get a trailer with actual footage ?

Well, obviously. The idea that we won’t get a trailer just because the show is mostly surpassing the books is absurd, in my opinion.

Pounce: A lot of people are going to be pissed…HBO takes us for fools.

I don’t think that’s the case, really. Just lazy marketing. People will still be pissed, surely, and they should. But I don’t think HBO are “trolling” us. They’re just not being particularly effective in their marketing. They don’t seem to understand or care that endless teasing can become frustrating, turning off engagement and hype instead of increasing them.

  202. A very interesting teaser…..
so I guess you don’t really have to die to have your face on the wall, or maybe its just telling us All men must Die lol XD

  203. What intrigues me in this teaser, is that something seems to be missing… At the end, I mean, no Date for the premiere nor even a date for the full trailer??
    Seems rather odd no?
Maybe this leak is just a scratch. I’m not saying I have any hopes for more footage later, what I’m saying is that they might anounce a date or something.

  204. Bearded Onion: They couldn’t prevent Jon/wildlings from entering as everyone would see Thorne betraying the watch in broad day light, would be too risky plus they could just take the boats around the wall and punish Thorne.

Betraying Jon is not the same as betraying the Watch, particularly to those who think that Jon is a traitor to the Watch for trying to help the Wildlings. (Also, they could not take the boats around the Wall: the boats would have long since have left for Westeros, and if the Wildlings had been dropped off North of the Wall, then the Northerners almost certainly would have united against them just as they always had united against Wildling incursions in the past.)

As for which day they killed him, remember that time slips by very stochastically on this show. On the very first episode, several months elapse from beginning to end. In other situations, we have the events from a few days crammed into 2-3 contiguous episodes. However, if things are more or less contemporaneous, then Jon arrives at the Wall before Mel leaves Stannis: and therefore several days elapsed at least before the NW made their move.

As for pinning it on some Wildling, I really doubt that the Nationalists intend to try to convince the Wildlings that one of their own was responsible. Instead, the Nationalists are going to want to kill the Wildlings. (Moreover, remember that this has to do something similar to the books: and there

the Nationalists attack Jon in the open with many Wildlings present and watching.)

Remember, even though the trivial plot details are going to differ, the big plot details are going to be the same. So, the very real issue for the Nationalists in both the books and the TV series is how they will deal with a lot of Wildlings that: a) they want to kill and b) will (in many cases) want to kill the Nationalists now. Another very real issue for them will be dealing with the Loyalists in the NW. And that is why I think we have left something out of our discussions: the North.

  205. When the real trailer comes out they will release a picture announcement of a teaser for a tease for the trailer of the actual trailer.

  206. Well, don’t say they didn’t warn us. A teaser is not a trailer. This was better than the raven flying through real cities and weaker than the ‘Chaos is a ladder’ teaser. At least I didn’t wait 7 more hours anticipating it. And oh yeah, looks like HBO still has a major problem with things leaking out before they are supposed to air. So great.

  207. Luka Nieto: They don’t seem to understand or care that endless teasing can become frustrating, turning off engagement and hype instead of increasing them.

Will it? I mean, sure, it frustrates us because we want “new” stuff more or less like a junky wants his/her fix. But do most casual viewers care? It seems like I’ve seen similar things for established shows and thought nothing more than “gee, that show has been around a while.” Indeed, it might even encourage me to binge-watch the show to remember who the hell everyone is and what all the plotlines & storylines are!

  208. pretty interesting, they have been telling us jon snow is Dead this whole time, maybe that was more of a hint then just telling us.
the long night is coming and the dead come with it……
I don’t remember jon saying this, can someone prove me wrong and find a video ?

  209. Tyrion Pimpslap,

Yes, my biggest takeaway is that Game of Thrones has still has to many loose ends. I enjoy the casting leaks and would be fine with an actual leaked trailer but please don’t repeat the season 5 situation (with leaked screeners and photos from episode 9 leaked beforehand).

  210. no date at the end ? they love reminding us of 4/24/2016 XD
guess they will add the date for tonight later.

  211. ion,

Er, my point is not that I believe that, but rather that I’m sure some people who incessantly speculate about that character appearing will do so.

  212. Joffrey's Cunt:
What intrigues me in this teaser, is that something seems to be missing… At the end, I mean, no Date for the premiere nor even a date for the full trailer??

Maybe this leak is just a scratch. I’m not saying I have any hopes for more footage later, what I’m saying is that they might anounce a date or something.

Maybe no date, etc at the end because the actual ending will say “Stay tuned after the show for the full Season 6 trailer…”

A girl can hope. I’m not that pissed off if that’s all we get today. I am sticking by the prediction I made last week of a teaser this weekend and the full trailer next weekend. Lest we all forget that Benioff’s wife’s show (Togetherness) also debuts next Sunday night 😉

  213. Wimsey,

My thoughts are based on the consensus that these photos are probably from the first and maybe second episodes. That’s the only way my supposition will work into the overall plot. Again, I’m excited to see what happens.

  214. It’s poorly done. It looks like it was thrown together in about 10 minutes. The point is what? To tease? But it doesn’t even do that. It’s just a giant CGI fest of faces, and voiceovers from previous seasons and even the White Walker music from Hardhome episode. That’s not a tease more than a review. It’s something some random person on youtube could have thrown together. And the fact something from this show leaked AGAIN is impossible to understand. Bad all around, any way you slice it. I do not anticipate the social media reaction to this tonight will be what HBO is looking for.

  215. Laura,

i’ll still tune in just incase it says that lol
but if it doesn’t, I like this teaser, it’s interesting.

  216. So glad it leaked. At least, I don’t have to stay up until 3 am to wait for it and be massively disappointed that we didn’t get any new footage.

So I guess we have to deal with this right now. What I like very much about the show in particular is that even though characters like Ned, Cat or Robb have been killed seasons ago, they still feel somewhat present. I still hate this teaser crap, but I liked listening to Ned’s, Cat’s and Robb’s voices again. I guess they might prepare us for flashbacks and a very Starky season 🙂

  217. Shitty posters, shitty teasers, shitty marketing techniques, shitty 720p on all of their video, a retarded man running the Youtube official channel.

Fire these guys, they’re not worthy of this show.

  218. And my watch continues. Sigh.

As others said, what’s disappointing is even the lines are old. At least the Bran/BR and banners teasers had new dialogue. While I appreciate that the voiceovers used were mostly Stark lines, would it have killed them to use a snippet of new dialogue from Arya or Sansa?

I hope they give us an actual trailer by the end of the month. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t get anything else until mid-March.

Just don’t tease us in advance with a tease of trailer.

  219. To be honest, GoT has never been the best at marketing. Repeatedly using the same footage just gets….tacky. Yeah, it is cool but not for a teaser that is being hyped up on twitter. They are milking the show, rather than advertising a new season. Even the posters look fanmade half the time.
And releasing the series boxset a month before the new season is stupid. If they released it at Christmas they would make allot more money.

  220. I jut wanted to say that I liked the teaser… It was spooky to see Tyrion scarface and others in the HBW. I like what it implies: that the deads will arise (jon snow, catelyn stark)

*sorry for the mistakes, en glish is not my first language

  221. Wylie: So glad it leaked. At least, I don’t have to stay up until 3 am to wait for it and be massively disappointed that we didn’t get any new footage.

Ditto. I understand why people are upset the teaser leaked, but I am quite happy about it. It’s been far less disappointing than it would’ve been if I had been eagerly waiting for hours until late in the night.

    mau:
complete disaster! they are trolling us!

I don’t think that’s fair. It’s usually wiser to assume incompetence before malice.

  222. Ashara D And
    Nymeria Warrior Queen,

    You are my PEOPLE.

Perhaps in my formative years I was so tortured by soap operas that I’m immune to this kind of thing.

But I FUCKING LOVED THIS TEASER. Sure, the version is crappy, but we will get the high def tonight. It was awesome.

  223. Looking on the bright side…

They didn’t call it a trailer, so while I certainly wished for glimpses of new footage and am disappointed we didn’t get any, my expectations weren’t that high to begin with. Had they called it a trailer and given us this, I’d be miffed. I love how Stark-centric it was, and showing all the dead Starks gives me a feeling there will definitely be some comeuppance happening for at least some of their deaths.

I think what displeases me the most is the thought this leaked. It makes me very, very nervous for the early episodes being leaked, again, and it sucked so badly when that happened last year, at least imo. Trying to look on the bright side of that, if it happens, again, at least the powers that be here came up with an effective plan to protect those who did not choose to watch the leaked episodes, but who weren’t Unsullied. In other words, there won’t be the same learning curve of how to deal with it.

  224. Well, the twitter account did say “you will be teased”. I feel as though they knew the reaction could be mixed and were getting their ducks in a row ahead of time.

  225. Laurence,

the reason people are disappointed is because they expected some new footage or Dialogue.
Oh well, the Fight continues XD
Still a good Teaser, it’s just that people can only take so much teasing before snapping lol

  226. Eh…well, then I guess HBO and GRRM do have something in common: they both take their audiences for fools 🙁

  227. Luka Nieto: I think it’s wiser to assume incompetence before malice.

Or, as someone said on Babylon 5 when assessing this sort of situation “Always bet on stupid.”

  228. Alex G,

I don’t remember them ever calling this an Official trailer, or telling us there will be new footage or Dialogue.
can’t blame them for letting our imagination get the better of us :p

  229. Pigeon:
I think it would be great fun (silly/over dramatic, but fun) to have a teaser where the camera pans through the Hall of Faces, and as it gets closer we see the faces of the show regulars in neat rows in the cubbies.

Well, my stupid idea was a bit too close for comfort, I must say.

  230. Matthew The Dragon knight,

My problem is that it feels anti-climactic. Last years teaser had new dialogue (spoken by a new actor on the show!), then the House teasers had interesting new lines and visuals and actually teased the three main conflicts, but this one, at this moment in time, with no new dialogue and no new footage just feels flat (at least for a hardcore fan).

  231. Pigeon,

    is GRRM.

Evidence? They have never been seen together.
    Able to accurately predict teaser.

    #CLEGANEBOWL CONFIRMED! #GETHYPE

    #STANNISLIVES

    #PIGEON IS TASTY!

EDIT: (Sorry, I glanced over at Reddit and got infected.)

  232. Matthew The Dragon knight,

I understand this. but, i have accepted the secrecy around season 6. And i think to accept it is the right spirit… The good news is we have just 10 weeks to go before the real thing!! yeah!! –) i don’t mind to have «arty» teaser instead of real footage, because last year with the trailer everybody deduce everything (sansa going to winterfell, brienne going north, etc.)

Keep calm and watch Vinyl tonight…It looks very interesting!

    L

  233. Tyrion the Myrion,

Yeah, I agree with you, that guy did a somewhat dump casemaking for the Ironborn storyline. But I’ve realized there is actually a small Group who really enjoy the Ironborn in feast and dance. I am definately part of that Group. Aeron Greyjoy (WHO everyone seems to absolutely hate) is perhaps my favorite pov. It’s just so atmospheric and dark and gloomy and I particularly enjoy the small hints of cracks in the Damphairs strong pious personality. He’s still a confused man underneath it all, he just found something to hold on to and he’s clinging desperately. Euron was intruqing and terifying to me, a great villain. And I think the show did great with the ironborn storyline up until this point. Yaras actress is good, Theons is mindblowing and they really nailed Balon, plus the actual look of the iron Islands is perfect in my opinion. Even the guy who played Ralph Kenning at Moat Cailin was well cast and came of as a true Ironborn of the old school. So I have great hope now that they are addapting the next act in the ironborn storyline. I’m Danish and know pilous acting well; if he can pull of the accent, he’s gonna nail Euron. I hope hope hope they do the Damphair Justice as well, I’m fine with a small role, just please let us see him perform a drowning ritual.

  234. Pigeon: Well, my stupid idea was a bit too close for comfort, I must say.

    *claps*

Great call, Pigeon. And it’s not a dumb idea, people are just pissy today. If this had come out a month ago, I think people would have loved it. I get everyone’s frustration but we’ll get something soon, little pumpkins.

    Happy Valentine’s Day <3

  235. HotPinkLipstick: (Sorry, I glanced over at Reddit and got infected.)

    Antibiotics are your friend. 🙂

    Laura,

Happy Valentine’s to you and everyone here (well, except the assholes *angelic smiley*).

    Pigeon

I was trying to recall who suggested almost exactly what we ended up seeing, but was too lazy to look for it. Well done!

  236. Damphairintheshowplease!,

Yes, the Ironborn do have a very devoted (if smaller) fanbase. I love Damphair too! I listen to The Prophet chapter on audiobook when I’m at the beach and it’s a legitimately spiritual experience for me. What is Dead May Never Die!

  237. Not trying to fool anyone with clone accounts, just like making nifty codenames. Never attacked anyone, just said saying Ironborn weren’t a well developed culture was not an objectively sound literary analysis. Methinks thou dost protest too much. The tyranny of the majority is in full swing. Ironborn are used to being outnumbered. Why is it so incomprehensible that they have their fans too?

Also, that was a weak “teaser.”
