Game of Thrones at the SAG Awards tonight!

The cast of Game of Thrones has turned out in force tonight to support the show as it competes it at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The show is up for three awards, including Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, and the Performance by a Stunt Ensemble Award.

Before the ceremony even began, Game of Thrones won the award for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series. This means Thrones has won the stunt award for an astounding FIVE years running! Congratulations to GoT’s talented and hard-working stunt team.

Tonight, Peter Dinklage is nominated for the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. He’s up against Mad Men‘s Jon Hamm, Rami Malek of Mr. Robot, Bob Odenkirk of Better Call Saul,  and House of Cards’ Kevin Spacey.

Update: Kevin Spacey has won the award for Male Actor. Congratulations to Spacey!

For the major ensemble award where the entire cast of Game of Thrones is nominated, they’ll be up against the casts of Downton Abbey, Homeland, House of Cards and Mad Men. 

Update: The drama ensemble award goes to Downton Abbey! Congrats to the cast of DA.

The ceremony started at 8PM EST on TNT and TBS, so tune in to support Game of Thrones!

I always forget how cute Hannah Murray is in rl. Good to see Pedro, too–didn’t know that he and Sarah Paulson were a thing.

  12. So Pedro Pascal isn’t gay after all. I only read that after seeing some speculation that he might be the father of Lena’s baby. Was Lena there?
    Finn looks very tall next to Alfie, but Alfie, Jon and Kit are only about 5’7″/5’8″ I think. I wonder if they cast Kit first then started casting actors who were similar height.
    Jon is leaning his head in yet again. Maybe he always imagined it’s a close-up.

    Great to see yet more recognition for this show, although I’m usually very cynical about these, and start complaining to anyone who’ll listen about our pathetic celebrity-obsessed culture and how doctors etc. should get more publicity. But it wouldn’t sell magazines or whatever. It’s just youth-dominated/orientated capitalism. It does make me sad that so many youngsters just want to be famous and now they can do it with Instagram or whatever. I’ll shut up now.

    From the neck up, she is insanely gorgeous but agree about the dress. Not my fav. Gwendoline looks fantastic. Usually, I know I am in the minority, I really don’t like much of what she wears. She is so striking and some of the evening wear just took away from it. This dress is beautiful on her. Emilia is another one who usually bombs for me but looks beautiful. Love Maisie’s dress! Love the texture, the color, the length. Absolute win! Sophie looks beautiful as always. Love that she wears her hair out her face. Shows off her cheekbones.

    I do love Sophie’s look. She’s so mature, it’s hard to believe she’s the same person from the first season.

    I don’t like speculating about anyone’s sexuality. But if you’re referring to him being Paulson’s date as proof of anything, they’re just good friends. They seem to always go to awards shows together, though she’s dating Holland Taylor at the moment.

  20. Yeah Pedro Pascal and Sarah Paulson are not a thing. Those two plus Benioff’s wife Amanda Peet have a weird twisted friendship. Sarah Paulson already has a girlfriend in fellow actress Holland Taylor.

    Who knows who Pedro is dating if he’s even dating. I think Pedro has a few things in common with our dear Prince Oberyn.

    With it gone, barring the emergence of some major new drama, I’d say GOT would be fairly well-positioned to win next year.

    Well… its like the Emmys used to be… They keep rewarding the same people.
    Anyone who thinks this show is even remotely in the same category?! Such a joke.
    I thought it was going to go to Mad Men actually cause of the last season. OR GOT. But not… THIS… This is like the Affair winning a Golden Globe over Game of Thrones! LOL. Can you even take this seriously anymore if they reward a show like that?!
    Everyone says it was a trainwreck after S1.

  40. I’m not into the show awards nor do I pretend to be an expert at knowing who should or shouldn’t win since I don’t know the criteria, but GoT not winning this year shouldn’t come as a surprise. It’s been the weakest season since the beginning, and I remember them losing out before when they had way stronger years story wise, acting wise, etc. I’m sure there are categories where the show has exceeded itself, but for the big nominations, like best drama or actor, I wouldn’t give my vote and it is my favorite show by far. Let’s be a bit objective and realistic.

    I’m not expert either, but They won the Emmy for the first time after season 5 and for season 5, and Emmys is prestige for tv so I don’t think it has anything to do with the so called “weak season ” 😉

    Even if it was the weakest season,which i don’t agree,it’s still miles ahead of Downton Abbey which has been trash after the first season imo,i’m not even sure why they didn’t cancel it yet but it probably has to do with the fact that it still pulls big ratings,it’s certainly not for its quality . At least when Mr Robot beat GOT at the GG it was more deserved .

  60. Congratulations to Mr. Elba and Ms. Vikander for their awards, I really liked their performances this past year, haven’t seen Revenant yet.

    I feel sick for the cast of GoT, they probably felt this was the year. I’m believing their only chance is at the end of the series, similar to LotR, it’s a shame because so many deserving actors, Dance, Dillane, etc will not be present that final season, to perhaps earn the statue.

    I saw interviews with NCW ,charming but slightly pissed off because the questions were,as always,stupid,Gwendoline Christie and Michel Huisman.Nikolaj was put on the spot when they asked which actors he would like to work with/admired.Michel said nothing new and Gwen said she will definitely be in the next Star Wars ?.I spare you any comments on their respective outfits?

    I was pulling for GOT, but I’m not surprised, or sad they gave it to Downton. Upstairs, downstairs, their cast is in constant orbit of each other, and they’re pretty wonderful. Their universe is also limited to at most 2 houses, and a town at any given moment.

  72. Congrats to Downton Abbey! Though it’s just a really expensive soap opera with absurd storylines (ey, I love this), it cast it’s simply outstanding. Every actor nailed it, even when they just to deliver a couple of phrases.

    PS: I wish the men at awards finally start the Capitol-style trend. Their looks are always boring and generic to hell.

    I’m surprised to see Aidan Gillen at these things, I feel like he avoids red carpet events like the plague and just looks uncomfortable. But he cleans up well, Bravo Aidan 🙂

    Emilia, Sophie, Maisie just killing it with the dresses. Nikolaj is insanely handsome in a tux as always and love the navy/black combo. More beardy these days, hmm.

I thought I had recorded it but come to find out that was just 2 hours of the red carpet BS and I’m not about to sit through the whole vapid thing just to catch glimpses of our Thrones cast. I go to TNT and TBS on channel guide and search function but there’s nothing showing for a rerun 🙁

    Haha! I haven’t watched this season yet (I always wait until it’s free on Amazon). But I will say while I think S1 was basically stupid, S2 was completely terrible, but that S3 and S4 were a lot better. The main thing is not to take it too seriously…

    Apology excepted. I was so excited after season 1. I watched two more seasons and gave up – just awful. Even the great costumes and Maggie Smith couldn’t save it. . Such great possibilities and they turned it into an unwatchable train wreck. Just awful. Ah well. We know GOT is the best, and obviously so do a ton of other people! So there!

    Did anyone else notice the “faceless” mask in back of Maisie? Hahahahahahaha!

    Those statues look like they are taking selfies 🙂 Also, I don’t wish to lower the tone, but now I’ve seen it I can’t unsee it. In the photo of Finn and Alfie, there’s a certain part of the male anatomy on the statue behind them which appears just between their heads. I’m sure it’s just an unfortunate camera angle but of all the characters in the show to be photographed like that, the fact it’s them made me do a double take *startled surely it’s just me and they didn’t do that on purpose face* 😉

  98. Though, I think there will be a trailer, it wouldn’t shock me either if there wasn’t. Do they really need one? It’s a hugely popular show, they’ve now succeeded in letting everyone know the date of the premier and given the massive cliffhangers from season 5, I think it’s a safe bet the ratings for episode 1 will be quite good. I do think they will release one, but they don’t really need to either so we’ll see.

  103. Love, love, love Maisie & Sophie’s gowns. Hoping that mega-texture is the new fashion “thing.”

    Emilia’s, not so much. The color looks good on her, but the cleavage looks weird – blurry, like it’s been airbrushed. Maybe she put on too much pancake to try to obscure the fact that the neckline doesn’t at all match her tan line?

    That shade of yellow is incredibly perfect for Hannah’s hair color.

    Gwendoline would make a potato sack look good, but I think that more dramatic styles, colors and patterns suit her better than this gown. It has interesting architecture but seems too subdued.

    Carice’s outfit I’m not liking at all. Maybe if she lost the jacket and the train.

    End of fashion pronouncements from self-admitted non-fan of the fashion industry. Now back to your regular programming.

    I don’t mind drugs and violence if the show is good and has interesting characters (the characters are very important to me). I’m used to subtitles, in my country only children films are dubbed. Are the subtitles for Spanish dialogue? I’d really like that, good oportunity to learn a little more Spanish while listening to the dialogues in the original language.

    They could create a trailer made specifically for awards show submissions at a later date. But as mentioned I do think there will be one. But it’s a thought that crossed my mind. If there was going to be a time or season where an argument could be made that one wasn’t needed, it is right now.

    I started watching Narcos with high hopes because of all the praise, but stopped after five episodes. It felt more like a recount of what Escobar did when, with long explanatory voice overs and not so much like a character driven drama.

    For me personally not every show captures me because of the focus on character development. Sometimes shows get my attention for other reasons. In this case because its based predominantly on historical events I’m really enjoying his they are telling the story.

    He does have some appeal, I see it. Most of us do have a type. I happen to go for guys who are a curious mix of pretty boy/ruggedly handsome. However I have been attracted to an actor who wasn’t that simply for how he portrayed a character that I found adorable. A lot of it has to do with their mannerisms and the way they hold themselves not just appearance.
