#ForTheThrone: Join the Quest!

ForTheThrone

HBO has decided to end our collective boredom with a bang by unleashing a flood of Game of Thrones content all at once and we don’t hate it. As the latest leg of their #ForTheThrone campaign (and hopeful less painful than the blood donation portion of festivities), a mysterious new Quest was unveiled for fans today on the website. What does it entail? To be honest, we’re not entirely sure…

When you visit the #ForTheThrone site, you’ll see a screen like the one above and can choose “Quest” which will take you a video, along with the Oberyn Martell quote “It is a big and beautiful world. Most of us live and die in the same corner where we were born and never get to see any of it. I don’t want to be most of us.” You can watch the first video- for Throne of the Forest, at “Dawn.” The video is part of a playlist of three videos. The other two videos are shown below- “Day” and “Dusk.” All three videos show the Iron Throne in a forest at various times of the day…with not much else happening. It’s a 360-degree video, so you can move the video around to search, but so far we haven’t found much else.

The site invites fans to “Claim the throne before time runs out” with a clock counting down- there are about fifteen days left. There are six spots on the Quest right now- but for what, the remaining videos? Let’s put our heads together and figure this out! We love a good puzzle, and we’ve got nothing but time until the premiere! Will you find the Throne?

  1. I think that is in Tollymore Forest in Northern Island, and I think it is in the small ravine where the White Walkers made a circle with the body parts of the dead Wildlings in episode one. I have been on a GoT tour to Tollymore Forest and we visited the spot. I am not completely sure that is the place, but it looks a lot like it. I am always hyped to see any GoT promotion right now! It keeps the fires burning and they are pretty creative with their promotions! Happy figuring out the puzzle everyone! #ForTheThrone 🤗

  2. Could it be that they have placed the throne in this forest. First one there claims it and gets to keep it???

  3. Well, 6 thrones, 6 countries; NI, Croatia, Malta, Morocco, Spain and Iceland perhaps. Though it wouldn’t be exactly fair to the global viewership. Unless you have time, $$ and Baelish’s jetpack.

  4. I feel super confident that this is in the Puzzlewood forest in England. The ‘Kingdom’ on Earth is the UK, right?

  5. Branflakes:
Ummm… that countdown clock will end on April 1st. Coincidence?

What’s the coincidence? It has to end before April 14th, so I don’t see a significance in the date.

  6. I’m leaning towards all the raven caws and owl hoots representing Morse code. This will give you the GPS coordinates.

  7. I just can’t figure them; the owls come in three patterns when they occur
    2,2,3,2,1…2,2,3,2,3,2,3,2,1…2,2,3,2,3,2,

While the raven caws when they occur are in 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 even 6 caws

There’s even one bark in dawn at 41.22

Furthermore when they occur, is the time in the video important, the first is at 0.44 the last at 52.18

  8. I remembered something and went to the Paul Danning bird videos and as I watched, owls hooted in the same patterns, but that would mean nothing important happens in last 14 minutes of dawn, but, then again all the videos are one hour, so it could be the case
Danning makes his videos from sw England

  9. I’m not sure even about the caws, there’s like 2-3 minutes where there’s caws continually in foreground and background, so could these just be natural background sounds. Should I ignore them completely or could the really loud ones be important because they’re spaced few and far between

  10. tom kid,

Well I googled and Puzzlewood is in SW England, which is where Paul Danning films his bird videos, therefore someone who lives in that area should just jump in their autocarriage and walk the paths.

  11. Hi watchers.
If you type “for the throne” in google maps it will show you the location of the throne in Tollymore forest in northern Irleand. In regulations on for the throne page is also written “that any photographs or footage of you participating in the Quest for the Throne event captured by HBO ambassadors at Throne locations” so I assume that you should go to the location where throne is, take a pic or a ambassador will take your pic, tag it and you’re in the great game 🙂

  12. Jack Bauer 24,

um, the joke is that the people who are involved in the quest might possibly be fooled, if not fools themselve? 🙂

Love the create section; would love to see more of this!
