David Bradley confirms Walder Frey will return to Game of Thrones

walderJust last week, WatchersOnTheWall sources provided us with casting info about a new character that seemed rather Frey-like, leaving us wondering if season 6 would bring the long-awaited return of the dastardly head of House Frey.

In a new interview with Zap2It, actor David Bradley confirms: we will see Walder Frey again on Game of Thrones…at some point. The actor would not confirm if he was returning in season 6 or at another time.

“He will be coming back, but I can’t say when,” Bradley tells Zap2It. “I can’t really say because things are in a delicate situation.”

“I do look forward to it, because I do love playing someone so irredeemable,” Bradley says. “I’m afraid he makes me laugh because he’s so appalling that there’s a kind of dark humor in there somewhere.”

Fans look forward to it, too, though probably for different reasons- they’re anxious for House Frey to make their return, so they can see one of the parties responsible for the notorious Red Wedding pay for their crimes. A bit of vengeance is long overdue.

  1. Agree this fits well with the casting call being a hapless Frey

who meets an untimely end. Frey pie? Nymeria? The character who shall not be named?

Loving all these updates, it keeps my excitement level sky high.

  2. Expected news, but exciting news!

I personally suspect Lord Frey will return in Season 6, but Bradley does not want to give away information without the specific okay to do so from D&D/ HBO etc…

Even if I do have to wait longer for the Late Lord Frey to return to GOT, it will be worth it!

  3. Shit, sorry! Screwed up the spoiler code and (put the / in the wrong place) and now can’t edit. Mods?

    Sorry sorry

  4. Awesome! But why vengeance for the God’s sake?? That would be so predictable, why not deliver yet another devastating slaughter instead? 😀

  5. I’m pretty sure he said season 6 previously…But I have no idea where I saw it. Either way, bringing him back any later would be really stupid. Everyone remembers the RW, but come on, having 3 seasons without him would be a stretch.

  6. Excellent news!! I’m very excited!!

Now, kill the Freys! Kill ’em all, I tell ya!! (a man can dream).

  7. TorbofThrones:

You may have gotten that idea from this article in Vulture last year, which is where I first read him talking about his return:

    http://www.vulture.com/2014/09/david-bradley-strain-game-of-thrones-chat.html

    He says:

“…I spoke to [showrunner] David Benioff, and he said, “You’ll be back, you’ll be back.” But not in this season, not the one they’re doing now. Not for season five. But he’s got more to do in the books, and I hope he’ll be back at least for some kind of divine retribution, which has to be coming his way at some point. Surely he can’t get away with all that? I’d like to think he survives just a bit longer for that. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s back for season six, but I haven’t heard anything definite.”

  8. Call me a sicko but nothing would please me more then seeing all the male Freys that took part in the red wedding rounded up, put in some kind of pit, and ripped to pieces by Summer, Nymeria, Ghost and Shaggy Dog…

    Now that would be payback!

  9. Arthur:

I don’t often agree with this sort of stuff, but there are times, man. There are times.

    Walder and Ramsay.

Those two — they’re the times.

  10. I hope they get to killing people fast in season 6. With Dorne staying in the mix, plus bringing the Iron Islands, Riverlands, and Oldtown in just to name a few- it seems like an awful lot of ground to cover next season.

  11. One or two of the major characters must be in the Riverlands this season. We’ve got outlaws, the septon, Freys …

  12. I am starting to think that D&D are going to do the LSH in someway. Robb Stark did write a letter and set forth a complex plan to name Jon Snow his heir, as in the king in the north, should Robb die. (We all know how that went)
First we have a casting that asks for specific physical details and now we have Walder coming back into play in addition to other Riverlands/ Northern Lords appearing and returning. Could the casting be for Tom O’Sevenstrings and not a Frey son??? Here is Tom’s description…
“Tom looks around fifty years old, is small, and has a big mouth, pointy nose and thin brown hair.[2] He is a singer and plays a woodharp, which he occasionally plucks when he talks.[2][3] He has a dubious reputation.[4]”
This could be for the set up that is taking place in the books (AFFC) as both revenge for the Red Wedding AND Placing Jon as the rightful king in the north (despite where or what he is right now.)
I do love me some Frey Pie!

  13. Tyrion Pimpslap:
I’m hoping for a redemption arc.

    hahahahahaha.

Oh man. Who would he “Westerosi World Tour” with for this? Let’s go with Jaime.

    It’s always Jaime.

  14. Theory: He captures LS after she is resurrected, and uses her as his fool. haha

Seriously though, great news! I cannot for his demise, which I think will come at the hands of Arya. So I think he will stick around for awile unless they cut the Arya blindness plot short.

He also plays the role great. He puts lots of passion in his acting.

  15. Hodor H’ghar: So I think he will stick around for awile unless they cut the Arya blindness plot short.

Arya only spends one chapter blind in the books, so it’s not much of a plot!

  16. Glad Mr. Bradley is coming back! He makes Walder Frey really cringe-worthy and funny at the same time.

  17. Awesome! We need retribution! Besides after joffrey kicking the bucket (and he played that role to the T) his absence has been felt, for me at least. Walder Frey is an excellent consolation prize in terms of villians. Speaking of absences being felt, I miss the hound so damn much. Loved that guy! I was thinking what felt off about se5 besides the obvious, and it was the lack of the hound, speaking for myself as always

  18. Just when I like him as strigoi fighting Abraham in The Strain.
Now it’s going to be hard to hate him again 😉

  19. Adam,

I hope D&D don’t drop the ball next season, with all the recent announcements I’m super stoked! Jon who?!?!?!?

  20. Adam,

I hope D&D don’t drop the ball next season, with all the recent announcements I’m super stoked
    Arthur,

Jesus that’s repulsive! Damn sicko! ;p

  21. I always laugh at the bit at the end of Deathly Hallows Pt2 when he starts sweeping up the rubble.

  22. Ashara Dayne,

Yeah, you think that a few wizards casting spells that puts everything back into place would be a bit more effective.

Bradley was very good in Broadchurch. He also did a very good William Hartnell in the Doctor Who special.

  23. Well whoop de freakin doo. As good of an actor that he is, can we please just beeline for the ending????? The news of AT LEAST two more seasons after this makes my vagina sweat. I hope he is not returning as “meat in the room” and actually serves a purpose to the endgame.

  24. Judibatt:
I am starting to think that D&D are going to do the LSH in someway. Robb Stark did write a letter and set forth a complex plan to name Jon Snow his heir, as in the king in the north, should Robb die.

No, that never happened on the show. All traces of that plotline were removed.

Wimsey: Arya only spends one chapter blind in the books, so it’s not much of a plot!

Despite only being one chapter, it’s the sort of setup that would probably need to take up a bit of space to have any impact on the show.

  25. Sean C.: Despite only being one chapter, it’s the sort of setup that would probably need to take up a bit of space to have any impact on the show.

It could be done over the course of 3 episodes easily enough. Remember, much of what it was setting up already has come to pass. (My guess is that they are keeping it to set up warging.)

What is apparent is that somehow Arya’s blindness can be fit into the Winter story (whatever that is). That actually fit pretty well into the “kill the girl / let the woman be born” story, but given that B&W cut all of the non-story stuff, they must have thought of some way of fitting it into the BLANK the BLANK or BLANK story that is Winter.

  26. Wimsey: It could be done over the course of 3 episodes easily enough.Remember, much of what it was setting up already has come to pass.(My guess is that they are keeping it to set up warging.)

Keep in mind that the one chapter was after years between books – that made it seem like a vast amount of time (to me, anyway)

  27. “I’m afraid he makes me laugh because he’s so appalling that there’s a kind of dark humor in there somewhere.”

David Bradley absolutely nailed it and stole the wedding ceremony. He was perfect and made me laugh at his smirking at stupid Robb. I wonder what things are in a delicate situation and why.

    LS

will very likely be in the show if they figure out how to tie it in which I think they have by cutting the Riverlands from S5 and including it in S6. They lost momentum, but Dorne had to be included instead in S5 because

it will have a big role to play.
  28. Wimsey:

My guess is that they are keeping it to set up warging.

    Absolutely

Wimsey:What is apparent is that somehow Arya’s blindness can be fit into the Winter story (whatever that is).

    See above.

Jon will get his warg on comastyle.

Bran is gonna go full warg and maybe Sansa will reunite with a

    warged Ghost.
  29. Bradley’s take on Walder Frey is so good…he is a villain I love to hate. I’ll actually be sad if he meets his end next season.

  30. I don’t think anyone except Benioff, Weiss and George R.R. Martin knows something about season 7 at this point. Season 6 seem probable. We haven’t seen him since season 3. It’s time.

  31. Finally! I’m hoping for more Freys screentime… and for some pies, who knows?
    The North remembers!

  32. I think we might see both the Siege of Riverrun and Brienne’s LSH-part of her AFFC storyline.
It might work: Jaime arrives in KL in ep 2, Cersei sends him away in ep 3, he arrives at the Twins to treat with Walder (who’ll give him Edmure as a special weapon in the siege) in ep 5, has some travel scenes and possibly interactions with the Elder Meribald Brother in ep 6, arrives at Riverrun and talks with the hapless sly son from the casting call in ep 7, parleys with the Blackfish in ep 8 and finally wins over the castle only to find out the Blackfish escaped and the sly son (who the audience has then come to like because grey characters) hung by Lachlan’s gang, after which Brienne picks him up in ep 10, because…
…she may be sent away by Sansa to find Arya right before arriving in Castle Black in ep 4 or so, meet the Elder Meribald Brother in ep 6, get captured by Lachlan and his gang in ep 7, get the ‘sword or noose’ choice in ep 8 and picks up Jaime in ep 10.
I think Lachlan, Flynn etc may be what’s left of the BwB, who are Stark-loyal but have turned to stealing and plundering as well because grey characters.
  33. Sansa could send Brienne to the Riverlands to find Arya. But what to do with Sansa? Brienne followed Sansa because she didn’t trust Littlefinger. If Brienne leaves her, where would she be safe? She can’t leave Sansa near Ramsay and the wall isn’t safe either.
  34. I love how the LS hopefuls make all the contrived theories of LS still somehow being in the show,i still remember the stupid report of Michelle Fairley being spotted on the set just a week ago, despite all the evidence being pointed against her being in the show . Also why do you think they spared the BF at the Red Wedding,he obviously has something to do with the Frey revenge not LS .

  35. Do LSH fans really think that Freys can’t appear without LSH? So, they really think that LSH will be the one who will kill Walder Frey?

Jon will return in S6. LSH is not possible any more

  36. mau,

The Blackfish can infiltrate it, possibly with the help of Thoros.
Also, I don’t think it’s filler. I think the Riverlands plot is essential for both Jaime and Brienne’s fate.
  37. Arthur:
Call me a sicko but nothing would please me more then seeing all the male Freys that took part in the red wedding rounded up, put in some kind of pit, and ripped to pieces by Summer, Nymeria, Ghost and Shaggy Dog…

I don`t get all the Frey hatered…. Boltons yes but Freys, no.

You do realize that it was Robb Stark who broke his word and promise to the Freys who were loyal to him up to that point and took part in all of his military victories over the Lannisters?

  38. mau:
    Chilli,

She can left her with Jon.

He’s dead at this moment. I guess the Wildlings and the nightswatch will fight. And while doing that the Others will attack and the Wall will fall. And with all that going on, Melisandre has to try to resurrect Jon.
I think Sansa willbe safer with Litttlefinger. But the question is, does Brienne know that? Maybe she’ll follow Sansa and Litllefinger back to the Vale. And there she’s going to start looking for Arya again.
  39. Ser Dosser: I don`t get all the Frey hatered…. Boltons yes but Freys, no.

You dorealize that it was Robb Stark who broke his word and promise to the Freys who were loyal to him up to that point and took part in all of his military victories over the Lannisters?

AND THEN THEY MURDERED HIM AND HIS PEOPLE!

“But I loved my friends right up to the point I murdered them… how am I a bad person?”

  40. I posted this in a previous post’s comments:
[/spoiler My guess is the Frey guy who's being casted will arrive with a patrol to save someone from the outlaws, showing that even the most despised house in Westeros can do some good. Then, the Freys will meet with Jaime, who’s there to broker an engagement between House Lannister and Walder Frey and make sure that, if conflict shall arise with the Boltons, the old fart will side with the Lannisters. If Merret's the one who's being casted, they can even have Jaime and him remembering Kingswood Brotherhood's stories.
Afterwards, during the feast, Walder Frey is served the Frey Pies by some River lord. The Black Fish and some of the Riverrun servants set fire to the hall. Jaime tries to escape with Bronn but the portcullis is closed and Jaime sacrifices himself to save Bronn (à la Nest of Vipers). And so we say goodbye to the most hated man in Westeros and the second-most popular Lannister./spoiler]

  41. GeekFurious: AND THEN THEY MURDERED HIM AND HIS PEOPLE!

“But I loved my friends right up to the point I murdered them… how am I a bad person?”

And what would have Tywinn Lannister done to the Frey`s if they stayed with Robb, the King that betrayed them?

Old man Frey did what was best for HIS FAMILY in a hopeless situation.

  42. Tywin of the Hill,

Sounds really cool, but I think the sacrifice thing should be turned around. If Bronn lives, that means that he needs to get an arc and he’s just a supporting character, not someone who can stand on his own.
Also, spoiler tags work by typing [ spoiler ] your text [/spoiler ], without spaces.

  43. Sam the Slayer,

    OK, thanks.
Bronn doesn’t need to get an arc. He just has to go to KL to deliver the news and… well, I don’t know what he can do next. Maybe Jaime’s death makes Cersei completely lose her mind and she finally ends up burning KL to the ground, killing everyone in the city, including Bronn.

  44. Rygar:
Well whoop de freakin doo.As good of an actor that he is,can we please just beeline for the ending????? The news of AT LEAST two more seasons after this makes my vagina sweat.I hope he is not returning as “meat in the room” and actually serves a purpose to the endgame.

I dunno. I think Walder and the Freys can still have quite a tasty role to play in things without necessarily being involved in the endgame. I can think of some really scrumptious situations to put them in. Heck, even the anticipation is delicious.

  45. Welcome back …you bastard! 😛

I think that we may well see Brienne and Jaime in a Riverlands storyline this season. Both were pretty much treading water last season but their general story was still intact: Jaime trying and failing to live up to Cersei’s unreasonable expectations and them becoming more distant and Brienne not doing a lot of anything and failing miserably to rescue either of the Stark girls.
I think there will be some sort of SH situation only without the Lady herself. Both Blackfish and the BwB have been introduced and Blackfish in particular seems pretty pointless unless he has a greater purpose. Would also be a nice way to combine the SH plot and Jaime’s verbal jousting with the Blackfish at Riverrun (who’s to say he doesn’t end up with SH group in the books anyway as he’s currently AWOL). Mix in a bit of Frey slaughter and it could be an interesting season in the Riverlands 🙂
Just need to keep our eyes peeled for Clive Russell, Paul Kaye, Philip McGinley and maybe Richard Dormer! 😛

  46. Sam the Slayer,

But that is something completely different. I agree that we will see retaking Riverrun from the Freys in S6 or S7, and I agree that Jaime will probably go to Riverlands in S6, but that will be plot from TWOW.

There will be no siege of Riverrun. Jaime can to there to be a guest to Walder Frey’s wedding, and at his road there BWB (lead by Blackfish) can capture him, and do with him whatever they will do in TWOW.

But we will not see his storyline from AFFC, because Freys already has that castle.

  47. Rygritte,

That’ an interesting idea that Ghost becomes Sansa’s guardian, I like that, so Sansa could potentially have the beginnings of her own Wardeness Guard; Theon, Brienne, Pod and Ghost.
Damn I just now realized a WoW spoiler that flew over my head since the season ended; Theon survives Stannis in the books.

  48. this is way off topic but where did they film Dorne scenes last season? I am going to spain next week and would be good to know where they film GOT!
Also, what scenes do they film in Sevilla?

I know they filmed at Osusuna (the pit), but I wont be going there

  49. Mmm just the time to let my fellow Watchers from outside the UK know that there is a food company here, known in particular for a certain savoury product, which let’s say might be relevant later on. Slightly different spelling but nontheless……

Fray Bentos who, according to their website “offers a wide range of canned meat products including our famous pies”.

    😉

EDIT: that link works perfectly when I test it but not once posted. If anyone is interested just Google the name of the product 🙂

  50. Deesensfan,

The Water Gardens were filmed in the Real Alcázar de Sevilla. Most of the outdoor scenes of Dorne were filmed in Northern Ireland.
Oldtown will be filmed in Girona. They’ll also film in Peñíscola and in the Desierto de Tabernas in Almería.

The pit was filmed at Osuna. Osasuna is a football team.

  51. Ah, those indelible final words at the RW: “I’ll find another.”

I wonder if Frey patriarch has found another wife yet?

    TheTouchOfFrost: ….Riverlands storyline this season….

We can only hope that the Riverlands matter this season.

  52. mau:

Hey, we agree on something. How odd.

In the end, though, the “story” here is Brienne and Jamie. They have to come back together, and have whatever sort of interaction they have in TWOW. I am not sure how Brienne is going to be extracted from the North, but she doesn’t belong there.
And honestly, if D&D do a Riverlands plotline that actually more-or-less follows the books but then cut LSH, I’ll feel like smacking them. That makes no sense to me and feels like change for change’s sake (or trolling’s sake).

  53. Hodoreo:
    First for LS hype train!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m on the hype train this season. I feel like there’s more evidence to support a LSH appearance than previous seasons; the big prosthetic gag that’s been delayed, the casting of a BWB-type outlaw band and the probable casting of Merret Frey or some equivalent.

  54. GoTstan: Speaking of absences being felt, I miss the hound so damn much. Loved that guy! I was thinking what felt off about se5 besides the obvious, and it was thelack of the hound, speaking for myself as always

I completely agree. I love the Hound, I have the biggest crush on him. Sandor Clegane is the guy of my dreams, Westeros Edition.

  55. TheTouchOfFrost,

Ha ha, I haven’t watched the show for ages, I’d totally forgotten he said that! On a vaguely related note I discovered yesterday that Martin Freeman is the guy I remembered from some of the awesome 90s super noodle adverts bad dad and shaolin.

(Peter Serafinowicz is in the third (final) one here. The guy in the first is apparently from EastEnders and the Scottish bloke in the other two seems very familiar, as does the blonde guy here although they might just turn up in lots of adverts?)

GoT is so bleak sometimes it just makes me crave comedy stuff as an antidote – the sillier the better! 😀

  56. Hodor’s Bastard,

Be an ineresting twist if he married/courted(not really the right word…groomed I guess?) Arya and she killed him when he was about to have his wicked way with her …although the Mercy thing has already happened so prob unlikely plus I doubt she’ll be back in Westeros before he snuffs it!

  57. K Noelle,
As I understand it (as a spoiler but not book reader) in the books

she claws at her face before dying which might require some serious prosthetics, but as she doesn’t do that in the show would it be because she had been dead a while before revival, so would need a bit of zombification?

just curious why it would be a big job rather than a smaller, more straightforward one?

Personally I thought a major reason for not including you-know-who at that point in the story would be

as it cheapens the idea of death being final and would take almost all of the impact away from Jon’s death. Viewers probably only vaguely remember Beric’s resurrection, if at all, but a far better known character coming back would stick in their minds for good

    that’s just a guess though.

  58. mau,

Hm. I think I agree with you. How odd here on the internet! 🙂
Although I do think what I’ve written down could possibly work, what you’re saying here is much simpler and more streamlined; something D&D like.

  59. Tywin of the Hill,

Ha, I am a huge football fan, thought the team was the same name as the city! Osuna and Osasuna are very far from each other. LOL.

Ill be in Seville but wont make it to Osuna which is close by.
Okay so I think ill only be able to see where they filmed the water gardens fight… which looked gorgeous anyway! Super cool.

  60. Lulu’s Mum:
    K Noelle,

Personally I thought a major reason for not including you-know-who at that point in the story would be

    that’s just a guess though.

I totally agree about the idea of Jon’s death having to occur before any other big resurrection, because if viewers were introduced to the concept of resurrection of a major character it could definitely have the effect of cheapening Jon’s death or make his demise seem less permanent.

And as for why LSH would require complicated prosthetics makeup is probably the whole slit throat and skin like curdled milk, and more evidence of decay, like the bone showing through her broken skin, etc. It’s just speculation but I can’t really think of any big prosthetics effect they haven’t done before that could have been in season 4 or 5, as well as 6. Just a guess, I have no actual idea or experience with prosthetics. 🙂

  61. TheTouchOfFrost,

Hi Frosty *waves* I replied to you but my comment has been awaiting moderation for around an hour now, probably due to having included a number of links. I’ll try being a bit crafty and see if that works (which will of course guarantee that my original post immediately appears some way above this one and makes me look even more incompetent than usual!). Anyway, about the Office clip I said:

Ha ha, I haven’t watched the show for ages, I’d totally forgotten he said that! On a vaguely related note I discovered yesterday that Martin Freeman is the guy I remembered from some of the awesome 90s super noodle adverts bad dad and shaolin. [Open You Tube then insert /watch?v=pHF_OajLaek or /watch?v=UaIPcZsNw-Y after the “com” bit in the address bar at the top, but without the speech marks, for those two clips.]

(Peter Serafinowicz is in the third (final) one here. [As above but use /watch?v=-PTOLCGWHwk] The guy in the first is apparently from EastEnders and the Scottish bloke in the other two seems very familiar, as does the blonde guy here [/watch?v=ivOCJ7-XDWw] although they might just turn up in lots of adverts?)

GoT is so bleak sometimes it just makes me crave comedy stuff as an antidote – the sillier the better! ????

Hope you enjoy them after all that! 🙁

  62. K Noelle,

The thing is, though, they’ve did similar prosthetics effects last season for the wights at Hardhome. They had bodies in varying states of decay. Remember the child who was part flesh and part bone? I don’t see how what they would have to do for a character like you-know-who would involve anything much more complex. Moreover, I think one of the main reasons for not including her is simply a matter of practicality. Her description includes

the fact she cannot speak, because her throat had been slit almost to the bone, without covering the gash in her throat, and even then, she was very difficult to understand. How would they pull that off and make it work? I’d half expect her to put on a tux and top hat and start singing Puttin’ on the Ritz, except even less intelligibly.
  63. Lulu’s Mum,

    Mornin’, Sunshine!!! *waves*

Oh. Wait. It’s early evening for you. 🙂

I’m calling it, now. Gene Wilder as a recast Thoros!!!

I can’t wait to see those photoshops!

  64. Lulu’s Mum,

No worries. Think the site has been on the sauce again!
Do like Martin Freeman. Was great in the Office and Sherlock and made an excellent Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit (although the films started to get a bit still after the first one!) . Can’t seem to get the links to work I’m afraid.
I need to give it a rewatch soon as it’s been ages! If you need any comedy recommendations let me know! What kind of stuff tickles you?

  65. Nymeria Warrior Queen,

Yup, it’s 6.30pm here time for some tea my tummy is telling me (as in evening meal, not the drink). I’m working on a range of new hair-dos for Jon too, coming back from the dead is a big deal

well on the show anyway, not so much the books I gather

and he needs a new look I think. I’m sure I can manage Gene too, although to me he’ll always be the Waco Kid from Blazing Saddles 😀

    TheTouchOfFrost,

My first post has finally appeared (at 11.21am above) so try the links there if you haven’t already. I’ll make a third attempt here:

MF 1: www. youtube. com / watch?v=pHF_OajLaek but without all the spaces. If that posts I’ll try the others in a moment.

  66. TheTouchOfFrost,

That posted ok so the 2nd Martin Freeman one is: www. youtube. com /watch?v=UaIPcZsNw-Y

    Peter S 3-in-1: www. youtube. com /watch?v=-PTOLCGWHwk

last one: www. youtube. com /watch?v=ivOCJ7-XDWw

I broke the addresses up with double spaces between the “w.” and “y”; “e.” and “c”; and “m” and “/” so it doesn’t see them as links. Paste into your browser with the http, slashes and colons bit and remove the spaces and it should work. Hope it was worth the wait!

Judging from your other posts I think we have quite similar taste in funnies. Have you visited www. fleabottom. net (same double space trick)? It’s a nice complimentary site to this one and fab guys and gals like Nymeria Warrior Queen hang out there as well as here. If you log in there’s a chat feed where you can send people “hi how are you, here’s a picture of a dancing hedge” silly messages and basically do stuff that would clog up the threads and forums here and isn’t really suitable for this site (also probably annoying for other users, especially the more serious minded ones). Anyway, I need to get some noms so I’ll see you all later……..

  67. Matt:
    tyjon,

Wow, you POS. Don’t spoil stuff from TWOW. Not every book reader chose to read the sample chapters. D-bag.

Wow, you need to CTFD. All tyjon did was put two and two together. In the show, Stannis is dead and Theon is still alive. Therefore, it’s a pretty safe bet to guess…drumroll, please…

    Are you ready???
    Are you sure???

    Wait for it…

    Wait…
    For…
    It…

Theon will survive Stannis in the next book. So you may want to back off on calling someone a POS shit and a d-bag just because they figured something out you hadn’t, yet.

  68. TheTouchOfFrost,

I’ve thought of this being a fit ending for Walder as well, seeing as how he doesn’t like them ‘too old’ and his name is on Arya’s bedtime prayer list. It would be such fun to see his next bride peel her face off in the bedchamber as she tells him who she really is. He would have to last a bit longer, though, since I doubt that we’ll see Arya make it back to Westeros before the end of the season. If he gets to eat some savory pies first I will be content to wait until S7 for his demise.

  69. K Noelle,

I’m on the hype train this season. I feel like there’s more evidence to support a LSH appearance than previous seasons; the big prosthetic gag that’s been delayed, the casting of a BWB-type outlaw band and the probable casting of Merret Frey or some equivalent.

It was a big CGI gag that has been delayed not prosthetic. LSH is surely cut but I’ve come to the realization that people will never give up on her and we will be hearing about her until the finale episode of season 8.

  70. Lulu’s Mum,

Ah yes. I remember that noodles add now! Was pretty good!
I’ve not no. May check it out at some point but I think one forum is enough for me at the moment!

    Nymeria Warrior Queen,

On a more overarching note, you can’t spoiler something that hasn’t been confirmed! Stannis could well live on til a ripe old age in the books. I mean Mance, Irri , Pip, Grenn and many others are still going strong in the books! 😛 Other than a couple of things from the books that have yet to be covered everything is speculation especially as the show and book have set themselves on very different paths now.

    Firannion,

My worry is that we’ve already seen something similar with Trant so don’t think they’d go there again. Personally hoping for Rickon to smash the Frey household into history with a combined wilding/northern army!

  71. Chad Brick:
And honestly, if D&D do a Riverlands plotline that actually more-or-less follows the books but then cut LSH, I’ll feel like smacking them. That makes no sense to me and feels like change for change’s sake (or trolling’s sake).

Maybe they just don’t like LSH.

I hope they dont like her.

  72. JamesL:
    K Noelle,

Actually, the quote about the prosthetic gag has been around since before the article about the big CGI scene and it’s a completely separate thing.

Here’s the quote about the prosthetic gag, by the lead prosthetic designer, please note that there is no mention of CGI:

“Benioff and Weiss, when they write the outline each year, for last two years, we got to this one point and we read this one gag and thought ‘Oh my God, how the hell are we going to do that? But this is going to be incredible!’ And then it got pulled and we didn’t do it in Season 4,” says Gower. “And then, lo and behold, in Season 5 there it was again. And it’s pulled again! But now, in Season 6, it looks like we’re going to do it. Fingers crossed they won’t chicken out.”

Because the article about the big season 6 CGI “internet-breaking” scene was posted alongside this quote people keep confusing them as the same thing. Not the same thing. They’re separate, as far as we know.

  73. The scene where Catelyn describes to Talisa the infant Jon Snow story makes me wonder whether they will do a “dual resurrection” scene. Beric could be doing his “red god” thing on SH while Mel could do hers on Jon.

  74. K Noelle,

Lady Stoneheart would not be some last minute decision they could change their mind about whenever they wanted. That quote doesn’t imply LSH at all imo.

  75. So what we have now:

    -Merret Frey cast
    -Walder Frey cast
-Prosthetics that were considered from Season 4

Perfect sense to do the LS arc after Jon Snow’s resurrection

LS confirmed! Get hype! Haters gonna hate!

  76. LSforever:

LS confirmed! Get hype! Haters gonna hate!

How is anything confirmed, so get hype? Utter bollocks!! Play less pocket pool, for your own good.
The only time anything is confirmed is when it arrives on your TV screen.

  77. Sam the Slayer,

That does not mean that it is not filler: neither character that you mention is going to be one of the really important ones in the end.

(As a rule of thumb, just ask: in which season did this character start to become the centerpoint of scenes? In this case, it’s season #3 for both characters. It is the stuff focusing on Season 1 centerpoint characters that is key.)

Nymeria Warrior Queen: Theon will survive Stannis in the next book. So you may want to back off on calling someone a POS shit and a d-bag just because they figured something out you hadn’t, yet.

Also, anyone who can spoil this has read a lot more than has the rest of us! The conclusion that you have logically reached (and that is classic deduction, not “it makes sense to me”) is one that any of us could reach. (Hence the minor uproar among the book-readers afterwards!)

  78. Walder Frey actor David Bradley assures fans his “irredeemable” character will return to ‘Game of Thrones’, but doesn’t reveal when. Is 008000 a New Animated Justice League Series On the Way?

  79. Jeff O’Connor (JeffZero on some sites!),

Ive heard from my little birds that Balder Frey will be killed by his blind brother Hoder; who will be tricked by loki to take part of the game. The gods set the game for their amusement, for Balder thinks himself untouchable. Balder’s mother ignored the small weak little mistletoe under the Valhalla oak. That mistletoe will turn into a dart. Loki will sneak in the dart and give it to Hoder, because loki despises Balder and that he is so untouchable no matter how much people throw at him, but Lokis plan will succeed. Loki will convince Hoder to take in on the fun and They will throw that dart right through Balder’s heart with Loki guiding Hoder’s hand. Balder will die in the grass. Instead of laughter and praise like Hoder thought he would hear. Scorn, Anger and conviction await him and he will surely be executed. Confuesed poor Hoder. Scared poor Hoder. Wondering what he did wrong; poor Hoder. Loki however will go unnoticed. Loki who is tricky. Loki who changes his face.
