A new Game of Thrones season 6 teaser!

Ellaria

“Wherever you are, wherever you go… someone wants to murder you.”

Just six days ahead of the Game of Thrones season 6 premiere, HBO has dropped fresh footage in our laps, courtesy of this new teaser. It’s only thirty seconds long, but it has some new shots, including glimpses of Ellaria and TWO Targaryen knights this time!

We’ll be back with a closer look at the new images later, but for now- enjoy!

  1. Two fighters spotted at the Tower of joy, that fight keeps looking better and better 🙂

  2. Olly shit!(no pun intended) Just look at the army of the dead behind the NK!!!
    I just shit my pants

  3. SnowLives,

It’s most likely Edd. What would Thoros do at Castle Black? Just suddenly shows up when you have Melisandre already there.

  4. Geralt of Rivia,

He apparated, of course, when he heard he was needed.

Woohoo! I can’t believe they made us wait 9 months for any new footage and then dropped 8 pounds on us right before the season.

  5. Jack Bauer 24:
    NK looks different again lol.

Yeah I noticed that too, he looks different in every new shot. But then again also in Hardhome if you look closely. I blame magic

  6. Both Targ knights draw from their belts; the casting call for Dayne specifically mentioned him wearing his sword on his back. Pretty sure this is Whent and Hightower, and for whatever reason they’re cutting around Dayne for these trailers.

  7. Arthur Dayne hardcore fans are going to be mad lol no Dawn in the show. Worst season ever oh em gee.

    Everything looks fantastic

  8. Turncloak: HYPE! Now we just need Sir Gerald Hightower, the White Bull

I thought the one dual-wielding was Hightower.

    Either way… HYPE

  9. It might be Whent and Hightower or show version of them. Maybe using different just to make book readers angry. lol They made a point with someone carrying his word on his back and both these guys draw their sword from belts. Unless they changed, they might be saving Dayne for the show.

  10. Luke Roberts is Arthur Dayne. Eddie Eyre is Oswell Whent. And I think I remember seeing an older guy in the Targ KG armor in some of the ninja’d pics from the TOJ set. If they stick to the White Book from the show, Gerold Hightower is listed along with Dayne as

having been killed in the mountains of Dorne by a party led by Eddard Stark.

So I expect 3 KG in the show too.

  11. Afeastfordances,

The dual wielder is Dayne. This was confirmed by the fan who filmed the scene being shot. It’s likely they scrapped the whole ‘famous sword’ bit from the casting call in favor of something simpler, same as they did with ‘Lightbringer’. Or, like the purple contacts for Dany and Viserys, they discovered that a pale as milk sword didn’t film well.

  12. Can anybody tell where Bran is? I feel like it’s supposed to be a known location and show how devastating the winter is going to be.

  13. Marvelous little teaser.

Love the sighting of the two KG. Do not love Dany being whipped (and I’m sure that Drogon feels the same way). I am really intrigued with the scene(s) of Bran and the White Walkers.

Just cannot wait for Sunday night.

  14. Ok, so a list of new shots:

People of Meereen running away from something, with Tyrion and Varys turning to watch.
The two Targs @ the ToJ
The Night’s King, with an army of …. potentially thousands, if not more, behind him. Holy shite.
Sansa, hiding in a snowy bush. No Theon in the shot – this is probably after they’ve separated, when we’ve seen him in previous trailers surrounded by Boltons.
Jaime and the High Sparrow, standing over Myrcella, with the Faith Militant stood guard around the room, and closing in. Jaime sees them close in, and begins to pull out his weapon.
    Dany, whipped by the Dothraki
    Ellaria.
Bran, stood alone in front of a tree, with the tree covered in snow and what appears to be gravestones (or something similar, it certainly resembles stones being used to mark a place of death/burial or whatever)

  15. House Adder,

    Spoilers

We saw on the leaked footage of the TOJ Ned losing his sword against the dual wielder, who gets stabbed on the back by Reed (presumably), at the end of the fight.
So I doubt there’s going to be any Dawn.

  16. Greenjones,

But Eddie Eyre had some pictures in his twitter account with long hair … he did look like Ned/Sean. And Aramayo looks like Thomas/the actor that played Jojen Reed. Maybe it’s a bad shot.

  17. Alex Stroup:
Can anybody tell where Bran is? I feel like it’s supposed to be a known location and show how devastating the winter is going to be.

I see a tree and about a dozen stone runes surrounding it. It doesn’t look like any place we’ve seen before. Maybe this is Bran ‘visiting’ the Land of Always Winter?

  18. Afeastfordances,

Arthur Dayne will be The Ultimate Badass Kingsguard. I’d totally keep him out of the promo trailers and clips for maximum surprise and hype. I think we’re seeing Oswell and Gerold.

  19. Greenjones:
So Eddie Eyre and Luke Roberts are the two Kingsguard here. And despite a lot of us thinking Robert Aramayo was young Howland, it seems he’s young Ned. Compare his profile in this picture from his twitter with young Ned’s here from the first trailer.

    https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/709433915929452546/15jPy2QL.jpg
    http://static3.techinsider.io/image/56df7293910584cc5e8b4e55-1903-951/screen%20shot%202016-03-08%20at%204.33.32%20pm.png

Yeah, I think you’re right. Young Ned has a prominent chin, like the profile pic of Aramayo. Eddie Eyre also tweeted something like ‘so glad I made the cut in this trailer’ after trailer #2 was released. But young Ned isn’t in trailer #2, however non-dual-wielding Kingsguard is. That convinced me that EE is not young Ned but a KG. I think many of us jumped to the conclusion that EE was Ned because of his similarity to Sean Bean. And assumed Robert Aramayo would play Howland Reed because of his similarity to Thomas Brodie-Sangster

  20. cosca,

But Dawn is special in the books … it is waiting for someone worthy and it’s a magnificent sword. IMO, they cut it to distance them from the books. It’s a hint the scene won’t be as the scene in the books…

  21. Mag,

That’s what I thought too at first but Eyre confirmed this was him on twitter after the second trailer. And he’s visibly one of the two KG in this promo too.

  22. BunBunStark,

It may be true. Though, I remember Eddie Eyre making fun of Ned or/and prasing Sean Bean on twitter during the filming so I assumed that he was expressing gratitude for the oportunity to fill his shoes

  23. Alex Stroup,

That looks like the big red tree … My theory is bran gets a glimpse of the nights King arriving at the weir wood tree and flips his shit … But too late this isn’t that far into the future .. It’s happening now

  24. I never feel sorry about Dany since S3 because we know she’s kinda safe until she reaches Westeros but seeing her being whipped made me feel very, very sorry for her. That was bad. That guy is #1 now on Drogon’s barbecue list.

  25. Stop….the hype train can only go so fast….

    6…….more days…….

    I can’t wait any longer.

  26. We have so much now with the teasers, trailers and clips … and still I can’t wait to watch the premiere. Too much hype. I hope they have much more in store to be surprised.

  27. Aha!!! I solved the mystery!!! Eddie Eyre AND Luke Roberts are BOTH Targ guards! Soooo,Luke may as well be our Arthur Dayne! Now, the question is:Is Robert Aramayo Ned?… No Howland Reed? Or there is another actor playing Ned that we don´t know of???

  28. So when does Tristane die? There’s no way cersei let’s him live. Maybe Jamie kills him on the boat?

I am surprised Cersei isn’t pissed off at Jamie for him failing and blaming her death on him.

Maybe she feels better about him if he kills Tristane?

  29. Connor,

I screenshotted it here, and to me, it looks like they’re coming downhill (you can see the figures in the background) which means that the NK is lower than them, but looking at thismap, there are no massive hills within the Haunted Forest (aside from maybe the hills Bran went down to get to his tree), so maybe those shapes I see are just really tall trees? Either way, they are DAMN close to the Wall, and if it doesn’t come down at the end of this season, I’ll be pretty shocked.

  30. Connor,

Looks stonehengy… Menhirs suggest some sort of cult site. So the question is will he go to 1745 in order to prevent the Jacobite rising from ever happening!?

  31. swweeet!!!!!
    – seeing a bit more of Drogon in every clip..can wait to see exactly how massive he is…

-Dany being hit by that whip… not the best move there Khal/Blood Rider Sexy…me thinks you are gonna regret that later 😉

-Momma Sand snake looks to still be at the Water Gardens..crazy thought lately..what if Doran secretly approved end of season 5 shenanigans and was just putting on show for Jamie? would be differnet twist to the Dorne story

and they should only use Tyrion lines for future trailors/teasors..love his voice and he gets best lines

  32. What the heck am I supposed to believe now.. 😀 The casting call said A legendary sword right? Eyre appears to have 1 sword but the dual wielder get’s sneaky killed as seen in the leak video…??
Can somebody see how many horses are there behind Eyre and the Northmen in the Trailer 2 clip?
  33. Tyrion Pimpslap,

Sorry…I posted before seeing this…I agree…So,is Robert Aramayo playing Ned and not Howland? Or is there another actor involved that we do not know of?

  34. ore,

Yeh this has me thinking real hard too … That 1 shot has appeared in almost every trailer and it the behind the scenes video … Whoever that person is , is gonna blow our minds

  35. Matthew The Dragon knight,

I always laugh at the sniper comments… They can’t tell us what happens? Why? They have all told us multiple times… He’s dead.

There’s nothing to worry about… The secret is spoiled on HBO’s command.

    …unless…

  36. Lyannaes:

Thanks for the screenshot! And holy crap, look at all the wights behind them! I have a strong feeling that they’re at Bloodravens cave!!!

  37. ore:
The shot of the mysterious rider saving Meera from a wight keeps appearing in every trailer…

My thoughts are that it’s Benjen Stark. I am hoping it is!!!!

  38. Now that I think about it I don’t know what ellarias plans were … Kill myrcella while prince trystane is on the same ship with a Lannister heading to kings landing into the clutches of the mother of madness … Either she didn’t care or she was hoping to get Trystane killed too so 1 of her daughters cud rule Dorne if she takes out Doran 1 of the sand snakes will rule Dorne and go to war with the lannisters

  39. On a closer look, the guy with 2 swords draws one sword from the sheath and the other is already out, could that be Dawn?

  40. Matthew The Dragon knight,

I wonder if Arya will find out about Jon’s death, based on Maisie’s opinion. She says the hope of meeting Jon again, keeps her sane … so, she is definitely not interested in becoming no-one this season. Maybe she just wants to escape from there.

  41. Things I am hype for this season:

-Night King and the Army of the Dead!
    -Bran returning and his visions!
    -Tower of Joy!!!!
    -The Battle of the Bastards

oh, f**k it, i am hype for everything this season!!!!!

  42. ore:
The shot of the mysterious rider saving Meera from a wight keeps appearing in every trailer…

That was the first thing I noticed as well. I am wondering if this might be the same hooded person in the Baelish shot? Improbable but I am really wondering about this shot now that it’s been one of the only featured in all of the trailers.

Ellaria looks to be in the same dress she was wearing in the finale.

I am also starting to think that shot of the one Harpy looking back in the midst of the fighting is either right after the dragons have been released or Dany coming back to Meereen atop Drogon. Either way, I feel like it’s dragon-related.

  43. The site’s been acting weird for me…
The articles don’t show up until well after the notification on Facebook.
Also, the amount of comments indicated on the home page is out of date…

  44. ore,

People have suspected so many different things, mostly based on superficial evidence. But once the trailer came out with better shots of the actors in armor, it was pretty clear that Eyre was the Targaryen knight we saw before. You can see his face. So it makes sense Aramayo might be Ned and based on the profile comparisons people have made with the Ned & friends group in the trailer, it’s a solid match.

  45. Two Targ knights! 😀

I am now even more certain that aerial Drogon, with Mommy riding, is leading the khalassar back to Meereen.

Ellaria, finally! Hope my reading of the season 5 Dorne ending holds: Ellaria did what she did per Doran’s instructions.

    BunBunStark:
Ah hell naw, that Dothraki whips Dany?? He better hope Drogon doesn’t see that.

That’s a weird move by that Dothraki. She is a former Khal’s wife, why is she being whipped? No matter, either he will be, disappointingly, burnt to a crisp, or a better use of him, he will provide a quick snack for Drogon!

  46. Mag,

The Reactions to The Jon Snow assassination should be interesting, watching characters like Davos, Mel, Sansa, Tormund, and Arya react to his Death should interesting.
Jon’s death will certainly have repercussions — both politically and emotionally — for many characters in Season 6. Since the Lord Commander was responsible for bringing the wildlings through the Wall — a move that was met with opposition from other members of the Night’s Watch — his loss leaves the surviving wildlings in a tenuous position.

“We’re not welcome there; even though one person was nice to us — and then was killed — we have threats from the Night’s Watch and threats from the Boltons,” notes Kristofer Hivju, who plays Tormund Giantsbane. “Nobody likes us — we’ve been seen as the biggest threat since the dawn of time. For three seasons, the objective has been to get through the Wall, and we lost some people at Hardhome, so we know what the real danger is firsthand. People in Westeros are fighting each other when the real danger is outside, so I think Tormund knows that nothing is over.”

Jon snow having a impact in death and after his return should be a joy to watch on screen
  47. Laura: That was the first thing I noticed as well. I am wondering if this might be the same hooded person in the Baelish shot? Improbable but I am really wondering about this shot now that it’s been one of the only featured in all of the trailers.

Ellaria looks to be in the same dress she was wearing in the finale.

You think Dany will ride Drogon again this season?

  48. Geralt of Rivia:
    SnowLives,

It’s most likely Edd. What would Thoros do at Castle Black? Just suddenly shows up when you have Melisandre already there.

How about this – he’s there with LSH. That’s who Little Finger sees in that shot in the snow when he turns around and almost shits his pants…

  49. Ellaria looks pretty free and un-executed, so I guess the confirms that Doran was in on the plot to kill Myrcella, the little weasel. That Dorne/Targaryen alliance is looking more and more likely. I reckon Dany will land in Dorne, not Kings Landing, in the last episode of this season.

  50. Vegodread,

This only makes sense if Melisandre (a) uses glamour to disguise another corpse as Jon, so that everyone THINKS Jon has been burned, then (b) puts the real Jon in the ice cells to preserve his body while (c) she heads to the Riverlands, or sends someone else, to bring Thoros of Myr to the Wall (with LSH, if she’s around). Sounds supercool, but also sounds like a bit of a stretch…..we can hope……

  51. “People have to understand, though, that at a certain point Kit Harington became such a monster, that writing him off the show was imperative to our sanity and the well-being of the crew — the safety of the crew — because he’s, frankly, abusive,” Benioff quips.

“There’s a certain level of violence, physical and mental, in a human being that you just can’t abide by anymore,” Weiss concurs.

    THE TROLLING IS REAL!!

  52. BunBunStark: Sure. But it also looks extremely similar to Edd’s sleeve. To me, it makes far more sense that Edd, who is right there at CB, would close his friend’s eyes after bringing his corpse inside.

They keep showing us that picture – they want us to believe it’s ED. This is Game of Thrones, that would be too easy.

    Geralt of Rivia:
    SnowLives,

  53. Gfycat doesn’t upload, so I can’t send the gifs I made to the cyberspace… Will try again in the morning. – But you know, we are only 5 days away from the season start, gifs are not that needed at this point. 🙂

  54. Vegodread,

Or maybe there’s a limited amount of shots they can show of Jon without spoiling too much. They’ve been reusing a lot of shots in the trailer so they won’t reveal too much.

  55. Matthew The Dragon knight:
The Most interesting Jon snow article in awhile lol
    http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/game-of-thrones-season-6-jon-snow-dead-alive-1201752873/

With Jon, there was a connection there, and they would always want to see each other again and that’s what’s been keeping her [going]. So discovering that news would send her down a bad path.

Hmm, that sounds … close. Perhaps the books will follow George’s original shipping of the two.

  56. Bob Warren,

I don’t think that confirms Doran knew about it or that Elaria is free. She could be bound by her hands. It wouldn’t make much sense if Doran was in on it, because he just sent his son to the Lannisters.

  57. Ozymandias,

    Ozymandias….
Breaking bad or the poem ?
Also, I wonder if there is one more kings guard they aren’t showing us.
Either way, I’m fine with two.

  58. Things I want and I will call it now in hopes that it will come true

Mel resurrects Jon by accident as she has lost all her faith by now (perhaps with a chaste kiss)
the blurry character with Ellaria is a priest and after she’s about to bite the dust thanks to Areo Hotah gimme gimme gimme death
Lyanna and Rickon make the cutest couple so that I can forget once upon a time shipping Rickon and Shireen to rule Westeros… even if it doesn’t last
Sansa IS Elizabeth and Joan of Arc combined and Arya runs with Nymeria’s pack in her blind dreams

Not too much to ask for is it? A rebirth, a death, a cute couple and another rebirth or two

  59. Cannot WAIT for that ToJ scene! And everything else! Drogon will totally bbq those Dothraki for whipping Dany lol.

    So hyped!!

  60. Just gonna throw this out there: What if Ser Arthur Dayne is actually inside the Tower of Joy and these guys in the trailers are the other two Kingsguard?

  61. Bob Warren:
Ellaria looks pretty free and un-executed, so I guess the confirms that Doran was in on the plot to kill Myrcella, the little weasel. That Dorne/Targaryen alliance is looking more and more likely. I reckon Dany will land in Dorne, not Kings Landing, in the last episode of this season.

Doran stopped the Sand Snakes from killing Myrcella before; why would he allow them to do it now? Especially with his son on the boat going to KL. That theory doesn’t make much sense.

  62. BunBunStark,

Perhaps those are the graves of the Night’s King and the twelve White Walkers we see during the baby transformation scene in season 4?

  63. Bob Warren:

Hey, my point exactly, let’s hope. We have not seen Thoros in 2 years, do you really think he couldn’t transverse from the River Lands to the wall in that time.

However, putting Jon’s body on ice for weeks or dragging him around ala Weekend at Bernie’s style makes sense to some?

    Go figure.

  64. Green Chili: exa

BUT please, let’s not forget the opening scene of this new trailer: we’ve seen it before, but this time we get a much longer peek of someone laying his hands on eyes and breast of Jon Snow. And Jon’s eyes are open… well, maybe it’s just his buddy Dolorous Edd closing them for him (after having dragged his corpse over the snow and into the building with his eyes wide open).

But doesn’t it make you wonder that this scene arrives just shortly after it has been “leaked” that Thoros of Myr will return in episode 6… hmmm.

    EXACTLY:

This would be a break the Internet moment…GET HYPE!!!

  65. I bet the hooded rider is Benjen…also, there is a whiff of an armor in LF scene…could it be a WW and that´s why his expression is confused? Maybe this is the GodsWood at the end of the season and they have breached the Wall and are already at WF

  66. Flayed Potatoes,

    Flayed Potatoes,

    Isn’t

Arya supposed to meet a group of mummers? Who are acting out events in King’s Landing? Maybe they will act out more. Remember that leaked audition for the new red priestess in Meereen? She tells Tyrion and Varys that she will summon mummers to spread the word about Dany. And she also knows about Stannis dying. So maybe she knows about the mutiny at the wall too and the mummers act some of that out. Arya could learn some pretty major things from the mummers.
  67. Geralt:
    Sansa’s Knight,

It has to be Coldhands or Benjen or both. I don’t see other alternatives.

Yeah, I can’t imagine who else it could be. If I had to choose, though, I would prefer it to be Benjen. Viewers have been hoping for some sort of Stark reunion, and it would be a total WTF if the Stark reunion turns out to be between Bran and his uncle.

  68. BunBunStark,

If it’s either one of the two, which I don’t really believe, it has to be Benjen because no one on this show knows who Coldhands is….it wouldn’t mean much.

  69. Add me in to those who would not be really disappointed if Dawn didn’t make an appearance. Sure it would be cool but I don’t think it will be necessary.

Same with the number of Kingsguard. 2 or 3 is fine. As long as they are significantly outnumbered by Ned’s crew.

For me, the one thing that is necessary for the TOJ (other than it’s probable impact on you know who’s story of course) is the dialogue between Ned and the KG’s. That is one of my favorite pieces of writing in the books. And I think it will take some top notch acting to do it justice which I’m sure we will get.

If a link to Westeros is not disallowed – here’s a link to the dialogue:

    http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Raid_on_the_Tower_of_Joy

  70. Hmm, I don’t think Thoros will be in the North. There’s plenty of story taking place in the Riverlands this year and it would only make sense for him to be where we last left him.

I have a really hard time believing that could be Coldhands as well. It just seems like if they were going to introduce him, they should have at the same point they do in the books – when Sam and Gilly are fending off the white walker. Unless they need to show that there are wight-like creatures who can think and act of their own volition, then there’s no need to include Coldhands.

  71. WOW!!!!! I CANNOT WAIT!

    2 things:

    YES DORNE FOOTAGE!

And why the EFF are there Knights with Targaryen sigils?????

  72. That shot of Littlefinger in the snowy place has been very prominent so far, and It’s giving me some weird vibes…

  73. Bran seems to be looking at the same place where the Night’s King took Craster’s Last Son in Oathkeeper (S4E4)

  74. OT: A thought while watching Fire & Blood, season 1 finale, airing on HBO2 right now….

Has anyone else ever noticed how Littlefinger didn’t speak in his typical villainous snarky voice during the 1st season? Aidan Gillen said his lines with that same edge back then, yes…but it wasn’t so over-the-top and saturated with the slippery duplicity we’re used to. If you weren’t watching the screen and were only hearing the dialogue without the visual, I swear you’d not even know that was Littlefinger speaking in his scene vs. Varys in the throne room. Character’s voice is a night & day difference between then and now. Personally, I prefer the earlier lowkey delivery. More how I imagined him in the books…

Sorry for the OT! Just wanted to share my nerdy observation with you guys. 🙂

  75. I’ll go back and read the comments later. I apologize for repeats but here is what I am freaking out about:

    Runners in Mereen!
    WW / wight army!
OMG sparrows in the sept creeping up on Jaime!!!!
Whipping Dany – They are totes waking the dragon here!!
Mel getting neked again – I need context for this now! Well, I can wait, but I feel like this is such an important clue. It has to be for Jon. And is she sad? Or disturbed? Why is she not happy as she usually is?

  76. Dahali Sand:
Is Lady Melisandre preparing to perform Nissa Nissa?!?!?!

I’ve never considered this before. I always thought it was silly. But something is telling me (maybe my own fantasy) that this scene is important. It’s off. So maybe that is what she does. However, it seems clear to me that this is at castle black. And she leaves Castle Black, I think around episode 5, right?

  77. BunBunStark: I see a tree and about a dozen stone runes surrounding it. It doesn’t look like any place we’ve seen before. Maybe this is Bran ‘visiting’ the Land of Always Winter?

This might seem like a cheap thing, but I was thinking about Isaac Hempstead Wright’s comments on Bran’s hubris and I am wondering if going to get a look at the WW was an act of hubris. And here is the cheap part: that when the NK grabs him it works kind of like Disapparating in Harry Potter and that somehow allows the WW to infiltrate the cave.

I’m probably being silly. They probably wouldn’t do that precisely because of Harry Potter. But I’m just full of crazy ideas this evening.

  78. Demon Monkey,

I’m thinking Bran may make the same mistake Arya made last season; using a power before it’s ready to be used. After looking at various visions through the season I could see Bran getting a huge ego and deciding enough is enough, he is going to go look for the White Walkers in their realm…only to find that they can see him. And that ultimately alerts them to where Bran, Meera, and Bloodraven are hiding.

  79. Sansa’s Knight:
Now that I think about it I don’t know what ellarias plans were … Kill myrcella while prince trystane is on the same ship with a Lannister heading to kings landing into the clutches of the mother of madness … Either she didn’t care or she was hoping to get Trystane killed too so 1 of her daughters cud rule Dorne if she takes out Doran 1 of the sand snakes will rule Dorne and go to war with the lannisters

This is a good point that makes Doran being in on her plot to kill Myrcella much less likely. I think she did it to provoke the war and damn the consequences. So I guess she just didn’t give a shit about Trystane.

*Unless he isn’t Trystane and he is actually some kid named Quentin who they were passing off as Trystane for years.

    *Please note my irony

I am also starting to think that shot of the one Harpy looking back in the midst of the fighting is either right after the dragons have been released or Dany coming back to Meereen atop Drogon. Either way, I feel like it’s dragon-related.

That would be fantabulous. I’m hoping that Tyrion lets the dragons out and they instinctively eat Harpies.

I am too hype at this point.

  81. Bob Warren:
Ellaria looks pretty free and un-executed, so I guess the confirms that Doran was in on the plot to kill Myrcella, the little weasel. That Dorne/Targaryen alliance is looking more and more likely. I reckon Dany will land in Dorne, not Kings Landing, in the last episode of this season.

Did everyone else miss the above comment that I quoted? Why would Doran put his son in danger like that? That makes no sense.

  82. The wolves will come again,

Mayhaps Bran is looking at the place the 3ER showed him in his first vision after his fall (book 1):

the energy curtain at the top of Westeros and the peril north of the curtain. If Bran and his posse (Benjen) can get to the WW’s energy source and the heart of the WW power, they can disable the WWs. And no further war would be needed,
  83. Danielle Stark:
OT: A thought while watching Fire & Blood, season 1 finale, airing on HBO2 right now….

Has anyone else ever noticed how Littlefinger didn’t speak in his typical villainous snarky voice during the 1st season? Aidan Gillen said his lines with that same edge back then, yes…but it wasn’t so over-the-top and saturated with the slippery duplicity we’re used to. If you weren’t watching the screen and were only hearing the dialogue without the visual, I swear you’d not even know that was Littlefinger speaking in his scene vs. Varys in the throne room.Character’s voice is a night & day difference between then and now. Personally, I prefer the earlier lowkey delivery. More how I imagined him in the books…

Sorry for the OT! Just wanted to share my nerdy observation with you guys.

    I couldn’t agree more

  84. Ryder of the Rills,

Maybe, or maybe they only used two knights instead of three. This idea has merit though.

I’m surprised that no one noticed the duel wielder only pulled one of his swords from its scabbard, the other was already out. He just hoisted it up.

  85. Ryder of the Rills,

    This idea has merit.

As far as Ellaria goes, I think she will die this season. Not that I want her too, I’m probably one of the few people that like her portrayal on the show.

I’m a little surprised that no one noticed that the dual wielder already had one sword out in the open, he just hoisted it up.

  86. I hope that Dawn and LSH aren’t in. Both are incredibly dumb ideas.

    Kamali,
    Ooh. I think you’re right!

I hope that Bloodraven, Hodor and Meera ALL get killed because of Bran’s arrogance. It would be interesting to see if he manages to do something on his own.

  87. I don’t understand why people keep bringing up Thomas Brodie sangster in comparison to aramayo. All off of that one pic. Aramayo looks like a young sean bean. Google that shit.

He also happens to be a julliard grad, which means he has the chops to needed for a certain scene.

Either way,the two kingsguard show are clearly Eyre and Roberts. So by process is of elimination, aramayo is ned.

  88. Kamali,

To defeat the WWs, Bran will have to vanquish them in their realm. The WWs will know if non-WWs trespass in their area. Are you saying that the WWs will know before their opponents are ready and able to anililate them?

  89. In this last teaser look at who is placing his hand on John Snows face. He has no Black Watch shoulder fur, all the rest shown in the room have them, except Davos. They are young hands with center blood wounds. Hey, it looks like maybe it’s Bran!

  90. I think the Night’s King looks different in so many shots because we’re (potentially) seeing him through different time periods.

Hotah better get some use out of that axe this year!

  91. Vegodread,

The hands, shoulder and hair look like Bran’s. Notice the blood wound in the center of the hand. They showed in an earlier trailer, Bran on his back in brambles and his hand looked pierced.

  92. Demon Monkey,

I think this scene with her is probably related to the lurid bit of “sorcery” we heard gets set up at end of ep 1. Just what it could be? A screener said not even hardcore fans will see it coming! My guess is that person doesn’t know just how much tinfoil gets worn around these parts and that a couple of us have indeed speculated on it.

  93. That is a pretty cool trailer, isn’t it? Lots of new footage. Cool to see some of Dorne again.

I think her plans were pretty clear: cause a war. If that means Trystane is a hostage or is executed, all the better, as it would actually force Doran to war.

  94. Can anyone tell if that’s the Water Gardens? Is that the Alcazar? It certainly looks like it. Reportedly, they briefly filmed there, but without actors. Maybe they acted that scene against green screen and added the Water Garden footage they filmed behind, in order to have more time to shoot this time, considering filming there was a rushed nightmare last year.

I’m gonna guess we see Ellaria getting imprisoned and told she’s to be executed, and then she’s taken to the Alcazaba of Almería (Sunspear?), where she is publicly executed, to appease the Lannisters for now.

  95. Vegodread,

Littlefinger was definitely somewehere in the North (or at least i think so), but probably not Castle Black or anywhere neart that place. Last time we saw he was taking to Cersei about getting North from Boltons. That being said. I think Jon might be meeting Thoros or LSH at some point. I always thought Jon and LSH/Cat (well she’s not Cat anymore, maybe small part) needs to settle things once and for all. Like she can die in piece knowing Ned was faithful to her.

It really looks like Edd but we shall know soon enough.

  96. Dolorous Methuselah,

    From that same wiki page:

“Afterwards, Eddard pulled stones from the tower to make eight cairns for the dead combatants. He brought Dawn to the Dayne castle at Starfall. His sister’s body he took back north [with] him so she could be buried with her brother Brandon and her father Rickard in the crypts of Winterfell. Barbrey Dustin, the widow of Lord Willam Dustin, resented that Ned brought Willam’s red stallion back, but not Lord Dustin himself”.

    1. I knew that corpses near (and probably beyond) the Wall do not exhibit signs of rot and decay, possibly due to the Old Gods’ magic being active again.
But, this far south, some serious embalming must have taken place, otherwise Lyanna’s corpse should have been atrociously decayed by the time they reached Winterfell (after weeks/months)…

    2. Howland Reed must have waited outside Dayne and Dustin castles holding a certain newborn, while Eddard was returning things… 🙂

Nerding out beside the point, I know…

  97. I hope D&D stick to their instincts and don’t include LSH.
Hooded man is almost certain to be Benjen. That’s why we got the reminder of him last year.

  98. Luka Nieto,

Yep. Seems the perfect plan to make Doran go to war. I do wonder what happened to Trystane. Did Jaime bring him back after Myrcella got poisoned (or let him row back)? He isn’t in any of the trailers as far as I know (maybe he is visible on the boat approaching Cersei)? Can’t imagine Cersei not unleashing the Mountain on the poor guy.

It might already have been mentioned, but in the history and lore video of the Kingsguard (narrated by Jaime), Arthur Dayne is depicted with two swords.

  99. At first I thought that Bran was at Weirwood central when the Nights King appeared but that tree isn’t a weirwood as the trunk is dark. Although it IS surrounded by the same (ceremonial?) circle of stones that are at WWC.

Its also the exact same place as the shot of the NK with the army of the dead in the background..the rocky face is exactly the same. We saw some leaked snowy landscape pics at Magerhorne quarry a while back, along with some standing stones and what seemed like a tunnel entrance so this was used for these scenes.

My guess is this is the land s of always winter…and that the Old Gods still have some power there. Bran goes there in his visions, inadvertently reveals his existence/ location to the NK and in some way causes them to infiltrate WWC.

As for Dorne…. has anyone considered the possibility that Trystane is in on Myrcellas murder/ downfall of the Lannisters, along with Doran?

  100. Some interesting stuff:

    Re: Dawn

IF it is included, do you actually think for a moment that they will mention it, let alone describe it? Visual clues is all we’re getting, if anything. So stop fucking crying about such a minor change.

  101. koempel: Did Jaime bring him back after Myrcella got poisoned (or let him row back)?

The ship is a Martell ship, presumably filled with Trystane’s guardsmen. Jaime has no power there.

  102. The Sybian,

Yeah. It is a bit long for a dagger in my opinion, but definitely not a long sword. However, he is depicted as dual-wielding and the other sword does not even come close to how Dawn is described in the books. You would think this depiction is deliberate (if they were never going to use ToJ, why not just depict Dayne as described in the books). It is a bit too much of a coincidence to have Dayne depicted as dual-wielding and then have a dual-wielding kingsguard in the ToJ scene.

  103. House Adder,

The only problem with that, is the fact that the leaked set footage shows Howland Reed sneak up behind the dual-wielding KG. I believe Eddie plays young Ned, and Roberts is Dayne.

  104. Kit Hairyton,

Those ‘stones’, seem to be those of the icy megalith-like structure we saw when that White Walker brought Craster’s baby there for the smurf ritual.

  105. El-Bobbie,

The mummers are probably going to perform scenes from King’s Landing (Ned’s execution, Joffrey’s death….big events!). I doubt the Wall is that important for them to warrant a play.

  106. koempel:

Wasn’t that a Dornish ship? I don’t think Jaime can “let” the heir of Dorne do anything on a Dornish ship, he’s a guest and the captain will answer to Trystane’s command, not Jaime’s.

  107. crimethink: Doran stopped the Sand Snakes from killing Myrcella before; why would he allow them to do it now?Especially with his son on the boat going to KL.That theory doesn’t make much sense.

A plausible deniability. Allowing his nieces to openly murder his ward under his watch would be shamefull act similar to the Red Wedding. A mysterious death on open sea is completely different matter.

Sure it would be bit risky for Trystane´s well being, but i recall that Doran in the books send his other son on dangerous mission too. But Jaime was there and he witnessed how both Trystane and Myrcella loved each other so even if he will figure out that Myrcella was poisoned (its not sure at all….), he will not blame Trystane and want to revenge murder him.

I am not saying he was on the plan, but if he was, it make way more sense then many other storylines from the last season.

  108. Regarding the poisoning of Myrcella, remember that in this show (and in the books) things are never as they seem. So as I’ve stated before, I think that Doran was behind the poisoning. His nod to Ellaria on the docks convinced me. After all, he has to have some kind of grand plan. Otherwise, what is the point of his character in the show. We shall find out soon enough.

  109. The premiere episode’s summary on hbo.com

At Castle Black, Thorne defends his treason while Edd and Davos defend themselves. Sansa and Theon race the cold and the hounds.

  110. I’ve made this comment previously but doesn’t the frozen heart tree leap out as the inverse of the burning heart?

  111. Vegodread,

well melisandra sees things in her fires so it is possible off screen that thoros had a vision to go to the wall anything is possible

  112. I’ve been thinking since we first saw that shot of Littlefinger in the woods, that perhaps the figure he encounters in the forest is a White Walker. I wouldn’t put it past him to sell out all of humanity to get power. Clearly they can be communicated with, as Craster had the arrangement with them to give them his newborn sons. It really wouldn’t surprise me if Littlefinger, when faced with one, would try to use the situation to his advantage.

  113. If not for the Tower of Joy footage, I would have started to doubt Jon’s return. *Yes even with that spoiler photo from the battle field. Especially since EW/Variety reviews of the premier episode made a remark about the show being solid with just supporting characters. UGH I hope they only meant that the opening episode focuses on the minor people, until the last minute when we see Jon open his eyes.

  114. Tyrion Pimpslap,

idk the sword in his right hand did look distinctively lighter in color as it did i earlier trailers…. could still just be lighting though

  115. Matthew The Dragon knight,

just a thought, everyone seems to think tormond’s speach about “I thought he was the man to bring us through the long night, I was wrong” is refering to jon. I think hes actually speaking about mance raydar.
