Tweeting Out Loud

twitter-birdNot much of a title, sure, unless you GET the title, but you know what? None of you really care.

Because it’s TWITTER POST time, people! Seriously though, special thanks to @Alt_Qthulhu (and Ed Sheeran) for the post title. Now I owe that bastard pizza…

For those of you that know it, great, no introduction needed. For you n00bs who’ve never seen this, well, hold on to your loincloths, and get ready for the 140-character revisit…ation… of the Dragonstone episode (s7.1) you probably just watched a few days ago.

(And I mean, if you didn’t watch it, why are you even here? What is WRONG with you.)

I, the rarely-axiomatic @Axechucker, trolled the length and breadth of Twitter, scouring the #GameOfThrones hashtag, as well as the #GoTs7, #DemThrones, #ThronesYall, and #Dragonstone tags. Yes, it takes a long time.

Yes, it’s fun!

I do this sucker on Storify. If you want to just read it there, then go RIGHT TO THE PAGE. Be welcome! Please look forward to it!

EDIT: You can also go straight to the SLIDESHOW VERSION HERE!

Everyone else… just start scrollin’.

See you next week, nerds!

      Can you link to the slideshow like you guys did last year?

      Storify is making it weirder, I’m still trying to figure that part out, with the new stuff. Alas!

      One issue that also keeps cropping up is the Slideshow auto-plays everything, so I have to avoid anything with sound or we all get this garbled mess immediately assaulting our ears.

      But I’ll figure this out by uh… season’s end.

    2. Regarding an empty Dragonstone… I did expect some people to be there, but after the fact I guess it shouldn’t be totally surprising. Stannis didn’t really appear to make it his home after all. It seemed like it was almost just an outpost or simply a giant camp for his army to hang out. We never did see “every day life” happening there like we have Winterfell or even Castle Black. When he left he needed ALL of his men, so he took all of his men. Since Stannis died the powers that be have been preoccupied with more important things than Dragonstone. The armies have been fighting and/or needed on the mainland… It feels like it wouldn’t be a priority to spread already depleted forces thin to man a giant castle.

      I was able to bring it up by adding /slideshow to the end of the address. It didn’t autoplay for me at least.

      I like how as soon as Bran says some spooky melancholy shit Edd is like fine I guess this is Jon’s brother #gameofthrones

      @Alt_Qthulhu
      On a related note, that’s the second mystical barrier that Bran has penetrated. Good job breaking Westeros, Bran.

      @infiniterain
      Lyanna Mormont has seen Wonder Woman 8 times. #GameOfThrones

      To be fair, no way could my brother and I rule a kingdom together without public bickering. #GoTs7.

      @LordSnow317
      So after the Red Wedding Jon and Sansa still allowed all of their men to bring their swords into the great hall. Hm.

      @BigDamnHerosSir
      Cersei’s so salty about having enemies but, jesus, if anyone ever earned their enemies honey, it’s you. #GameOfThrones

      Now that Dany’s at Dragonstone who’s gonna find Lady Selyse’s test tube babies? #GameOfThones

      A shout out to dear @johnbradleywest. He had to shoot the Citadel misery montage over 3 days while the rest of us were in LA at the Emmys!

      🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 How I love this fandom.

      Man the fandom loves the Starks – the hype for cold open was everything!!!!!!!!!

      I finally got around to watching some YouTube episode reaction videos last night (silly, but I enjoy some of them). Most people deduced that it was Arya as Walder but a few didn’t. I always love the ‘holy shit’ reactions. 🙂 Whether they knew or not everybody was pretty pumped after that open.

    9. Clob,

      I agree

      My brother is an ULTRA casual viewer…

      He messaged me and said “Wait… didn’t Arya have to kill that old man to take his face”?

      I respond “Yeah!!! She killed him last season!!!!!!”

      He responds… : “Oh so you knew it was Arya the whole time??”

      HAHAHA he doesn’t even remember! LOL

    10. Loved it ALL Axey!!!!! What an exhausting process to have to look through all those tweets…..and you made it look so easy!! As always, the GoT fandom is so witty and funny! This episode broke the record for most tweets……I think it is just the beginning!! Rest up for next Sunday, Axey….I think you are going to need it! GREAT Twitter recap!! Thanks so much!!🙌🏻

    11. Great recap, as always! Very happy to have these posts back along with the show. Axey’s so thorough in gathering up the Twitter reactions that it almost feels like watching the episode again! (And I’ve watched the premiere four times already … 🙂 )

    12. That twitter troll by Lena was utterly brilliant! 😀

      Then, I scrolled down… and down… and down… and the few funny tweets were diluted to near-homeopathic concentrations by nothing but joyless observations. Sorry to be the party pooper, Fabio, but IMO less would be more. I gave up reading after the cold opening scene…

    13. Your twitter recap are my favorite GoT thing after GoT itself, Axey, thank you for the great job! I always get emotional when I see myself here too (:
      Poor Ed honestly, he’s such a nice person and a lovely artist and he doesn’t deserve bad things —> Dolorous Ed

      Well done!

      I kind of agree; it was a bit too long, though I reasoned people are usually more forgiving of premieres and finales. Probably be slimmer next week!

      Still makes me laugh.
