Game of Thrones Season 6 premiere screenings coming!

31

Entertainment Weekly has just announced that several screenings of the Game of Thrones Season 6 premiere “The Red Woman” will be held in four cities in the United States next Sunday.

For our friends in the States, you’re on the hunt! In Atlanta, Boston, Denver, and Austin, a Game of Thrones themed scavenger hunt will be held and rewarded with a fan screening of the Season 6 premiere.

The big screen movie theatre screenings will be held the night of Sunday April 24th simultaneously with the East Coast premiere (9pm). Those who’ve attended the Season 4 events in IMAX can tell you the experience is well worth it.

For those in the Austin area, assemble a team of 3-6 players and register here. The hunt begins at 5pm on 4/24. Those lucky winners will be alerted via text message at 7pm to the screening which begins at 8pm. Entertainment Weekly reports that Missandei herself (Nathalie Emmanuel) will also be in attendance!

Be sure to dress for the occasion in your best Game of Thrones themed attire and good luck to those who participate!

If you are one of the lucky ones that live in these surrounding areas, let us know below! We’d love to hear of your experience.

  1. Atlanta is tempting, but I wouldn’t be able to do a hunt there. And class Monday would be hard to make, nearly five hours away.

  2. Ha, I’m 40 miles north of Atlanta. Might have to make a trip ITP on Sunday…. C’mon EW, hurry up and post info on the premiere here! WotW, I vow that if I make it to the screening, I will send you an excellent recap.

  3. I found info for Denver

Where: Mayan Theatre, 110 Broadway, Denver

    When: April 24, Doors open at 5 p.m., screening at 7 p.m.

Cost: FREE however passes are limited, click here to RSVP and reserve a seat

The Low Down: Game of Thrones zealots have the opportunity to experience the much-anticipated Season 6 premier in true, fandom style before it premiers on HBO. There will be a costume contest led by Chris Parente, as well as trivia and prizes to boot; Denver is one of a select amount of cities chosen to take part in this fantastical experience, so don’t miss out on the chance to enter into the Game of Thrones realm for this exciting premier.

Also, fans can delve even deeper into the GoT world, because starting on April 20, the Iron Throne will be on display at Denver Pavilions (16th and Glenarm, Street Level) free for the public to photograph and selfie to the heart’s desire— so don’t pass up on that Instagram opportunity.

Just lower the volume of your audio though before clicking the link as the GOT music is embedded on the page

  4. Did you guys see the new description for the Red Woman?

Season Six Premiere. At Castle Black, Thorne defends his treason while Edd and Davos defend themselves. Sansa and Theon race the cold and the hounds. (TVMA) (AC,AL,GV,N)

Nothing that we didn’t know already but still…HYPE!!

  5. Sorry for offtopic guys, but am I the only one who has problems with the home page lately? I can’t see any new posts, the last one is the 2nd and 3rd episode title name.

  6. Flayed Potatoes,

Good, I like it that they are in other major cities around the country. Just wish one of them was Phx. Denver is the closest but don’t think I could find a last minute ticket to fly there.

  7. Flayed Potatoes:
Those are some random cities. No NY or LA…

Perhaps they figured they’d already done several events in those two big cities and were aiming for other big cities.

  8. Cersei’s Brain:
    RosanaZugey,

Hi Rosana – if you are in Denver, maybe say hi in the lobby.I will be with some other show fanatics

Oh, awesome! I’m down!! Would totally like to see you there. I’ll probably be in something “House Stark” because that’s the only way I roll. ?

  9. Never in Canada it seems…

Oh well, I don’t mind, I’ll just wait until Sunday and enjoy it in my bedroom. 🙂

  10. Well, there is a screening in my town Copenhagen, Denmark too but on the 25th of April in the evening as the actual premiere on HBO Nordic is in the middle of the night. I’ve entered the facebook competition because only lucky winners will get to go to this free screening. I know I might have watched it already by then but I certainly hope to win. Small chance, though.

I have the same problem as you. Whenever I open the page it shows the last content opened. I have to refresh it to upload new content. I tried emptying the cache, but it does not change anything. I suppose this is related to the undergoing site maintenance.

It’s because of that stupid Adobe flash player warning at the top of your screen. Just tell it to allow and remember and you’ll be good.

And damn, that sucks that the Atlanta one is full already. ‘Course, I would’ve preferred just getting a pass to the viewing without having to do the treasure hunt.

  13. Damn! I have obligations until 6:30 on Sunday. Otherwise, I’d be getting coverage for the kids and taking my wife into Denver for this.

  14. No love for the northwest. That’s ok! I’ve convinced my guy to celebrate the premiere with me and a couple Ommegang ales! So excited! 😀

  15. *raises hand* Thanks Sue for the update and good luck tonight. I have had to switch back to IE as Chrome is useless. Yes, I have cleared cookies/chache and I am on a PC on a great server, with no issues on any other website. I have faith, you folks always figure it out.

For those fortunate few who are in or close to the FOUR…have a great time, I wouldn’t miss it for anything if it were coming close to where I live…Portland, OR. But I would go to Seattle in a heartbeat if it were there. Remember…

    PICTURES OR IT DIDN’T HAPPEN!

Aryamad…Aryainthe Pacific NW? *wags tail* I am in Portland…Aryaanywhere close?

  17. Flayed Potatoes,
    ash,

I’m in NYC and the only event I’ve heard about this year was the history & lore screening in bryant park. The same day they did a complete let down dragon landing display in union square but I am unaware of anything else. I was kinda bummed there was nothing for premiere. But shout out to fans in my hometown of Phoenix. Hopefully the GoT people do something there soon! 🙂

I have the same problem on my tablet. Have to p
    refresh a couple of times.
There’s no problem when using my PC though.

  19. Hey, those of you that do attend the screenings, don’t forget to share some pictures!

I’ve been in a different city for every season premiere; I sincerely hope next year life will get me to one of the “lucky” cities (well, being in Beirut this year I didn’t really stand a chance, did I…)

  20. We’ll be watching in the comfort of our home on a 65 inch screen, good enough for us. Plus we can inbibe adult beverages without worry. Hope our cable company has the decency to not crap out as they all too often do.

  21. Anyone having a premiere party? I got a new Thrones shirt for Sunday and will be ordering pizza and wings 🙂

  22. I go to the University of Texas at Austin and I’m super excited to be participating in the scavenger hunt!

  23. Jack Bauer 24,

Pizza and wings sound good. I was trying to think of Thrones themed food for the evening. Maybe onion rings for the Onion Knight? Ok, now I’m hungry…

If you have people coming over, you can also offer bread and salt. Just to calm them that there won’t be any Red Wedding-like event happening in your house

  25. Flayed Potatoes,

…or Chicago! We’re third largest so we always get skipped–2 biggys or 4 mediums. Sigh.

Congrats to those who get to see it on the big screen with Dolby. It was awesome when I saw the IMAX!

Still excited to see it in my family room on the 50″, though, with a big bowl of ice cream!

  26. I found the Boston premiere info

    BOSTON, April 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ —

    WHAT:
HBO will once again host the Boston premiere of GAME OF THRONES Season 6, on Sunday, April 24 at the Revere Hotel.

Following the shocking developments at the conclusion of season five, including Jon Snow’s bloody fate at the hands of Castle Black mutineers, Daenerys’ near-demise at the fighting pits of Meereen, and Cersei’s public humiliation in the streets of King’s Landing, survivors from all parts of Westeros and Essos regroup to press forward, inexorably, towards their uncertain individual fates. Familiar faces will forge new alliances to bolster their strategic chances at survival, while new characters will emerge to challenge the balance of power in the east, west, north and south.

The Emmy®- and Golden Globe-winning GAME OF THRONES returns for its ten-episode sixth season SUNDAY, APRIL 24 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO, followed by other episodes on subsequent Sundays at the same time.

8:00 P.M. – Reception and Ommegang Game of Thrones Beer Tasting

    9:00 P.M. – Screening, Season 6, Episode 1

I’d consider going (George himself might show?), if not for the fact that the cost of airfare + hotel is a tad steep, considering the risk of not getting in. Also, I really don’t like subjecting myself to the kind of security checks involved when flying these days + the foreigner line when arriving in the USA (You Americans get a somewhat similar experience when you fly here, I think).

  28. Austin has become the GoT darling in TX. It is about as central as you can get, but there is one problem: Austin traffic sucks. The city decided years ago it didn’t need the infrastructure of multiple major thoroughfares/highways, even though it was growing then. And that’s without the chaos of SXSW. Keep hoping they bring the exhibit to DFW.

All that to say, dealing with the headache of navigating Austin isn’t worth driving down to try a hunt. I’ll watch comfy cozy on my own sofa. But to intrepid Austinites, good luck!

  29. I figured season 5 episodes 8 , 9 and 10 would get the IMAX treatment, as last year, but no.
Then this , it is interesting.

  30. Hoyti Von Totiy:
Yall know what this means? Shaky-HDcam-screeners on torrents for us regular folks ..

Ummmm… why? They will happen at the same time as the episodes…

  31. Jack Bauer 24,

For sure! There will be 8 of us enjoying some themed food (Tyrell pepperoni roses, Targaryen blackberry/strawberry sigil pie, et al.). My wife even got into the spirit which is saying something as she is normally at best a 50/50 bet to even watch it Sunday nights and downloaded the GoT font and has created a huge “Season 6 is coming” banner complete with the major houses for the gaps between words. I really nerded out and created a fairly lengthy quiz for us to go over as an optional refresher before 9 pm as well. Very pumped!

  32. Jay Poplar:
    What about in Medellín, Colombia?
    No?
    Ok…

I live in Medellin too so a screening in Medellin would be amazing but obviously that’s not going to happen… sadness 🙁 I’ll have to settle for using my VPN and my friend’s HBOGO account.

  33. Aryamad:
    dwm,

    Hi there fellow Portlander!

SQUEEEEEE two whole peoples from WotW that are in Portland or very close…Hillsboro is VERY close. I am happy. And indeed, I had to turn on the window A/C IN APRIL!!!! Today will see the last of it and then we are back to our normal PNW weather. 😉

I am over in Vancouver with family for 6:01, but after that, I wouldn’t mind at all if you three and significant others wanted to meet up and compare notes. 😀 I have never met a fan of Thrones who wasn’t totally lovely to spend time with.

What say you??? If either of you are on Twitter, I am @LadyFionavar there. Have either of you been to Salvador Molly’s??? That could be fun. (I don’t know of any bar or restaurant that shows GoT’s on Sunday) Hope I am not sounding scary to you!!!

  34. Aryamad,
Here in the UK we have Tyrell’s snacks 😀 I thought you were joining me, Molestown bastard and Shy Lady Dragon partying, or does the 10,000 mile round trip sound a bit too far in the cold light of day? 😉

  35. Well i’d love the chance to attend one of these type of events, but i’ll still be more than happy staying up til 2am in the dark depths of Cornwall (UK) to watch the premiere on my own (with a few cold beverages for company of course 🙂 ).
