  1. Cersi is cuckoo and I really hope Jamie bis the Valonqar. It would be fitting. Also, I would like to see Bran communicate through the weirwood tree at Winterfell. Even if it was just to tell Jon to go to Lyannas tomb.
Lastly, a merry band consisting of Bwob hound gendry Arya and Melisandre is a great idea!

  2. Mmmmmmm. That pie is tasty.

Can’t wait. Happy Independence Day! America is the High Sparrow of Earth! 😛

  3. Season 6 episode 10 The Winds of Winter has made my theory that

Cersei and Jamie are the Mad Kings bastards

    a lot stronger!!!!

My main season 6 complaint is the Arya’s Terminator scene in Bravos and the time travel teleporter seemed too rushed….
    Season 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 – 6 – 5 favorite to least favorite GoT seasons.

  4. Varys sailed back to Meereen with the Martell and Tyrell ships he obtained when he forged the alliance. Why is this so difficult for so many people to understand? I stopped listening after the 3rd or 4th own about jet packs because it really is annoying.

  5. Lord of Coffee,

I am definitely not the only one who has mentioned the jet pack time travel issues that happened the whole season and only in season 6.

It’s an issue that could be improved…. so yep you owe me an apology

Some of the best GoT scenes are the travel scenes with the main characters. Brianne of Tarth/Jamie – Tyrion/Varys – Arya/The Hound – Jamie/Bron

  6. I’m pretty sure they got Ellaria and the Sand Snakes on the ships so they can kill them off in the early season sea battle with Euron.

  7. So…I was one of the people being a little skeptical about the jetpack stuff.

But I just rewatched all of Season 1. Yeah, they basically all had teleporters back then too. You’d have characters at both Winterfell and the Wall in one ep.

Even Catelyn went from Winterfell to Kings Landing to some inn where she captured Tyrion to the Vale – all in two episodes.

I think we’re more sensitive to it because Season 5 was sooo slow moving. People didn’t get around much, so it seems more pronounced this season.

  8. Does anyone else think Daario might support Cersei, having been dumped by Daenerys? That this will be the third betrayal, the one for love?

Well asides from the fact it would be 12 month round trip, minimum for Varys. Add to this the fact he set off from Dorne some time after the Sept of Baelor explosion (as it would’ve taken Ollena a while to reach Sunspear from HG after the news came from KL, let alone for her to summon the Tyrell fleet). So, whilst its clear that not all storylines are running in parallel, and some timelines are more truncated, which I get; this makes little sense at all. Its as though this season spanned 2.5-3 years from beginning to end (if you also take into account Theons travels from WF- II- Mereen in addition to Varys’ voyage that commenced fairly late on, in episode 7).

  10. This season was the first time i wacthed GOT after following this site the whole summer and as much i love Watchersonthewall, i feel like knowing so many spoilers and story threads kinda diminished their effects when i watched the season so i am going on hybernation and will rejoin you back when season 7 starts

Keep up the good work and i love Game of Owns podcast!

He does not owe you an apology for being annoyed by the sheer volume of teleporting complaints, just because you were not the only one.

The point is that we’re finally at the endgame of this show and there simply isn’t the time anymore for expositionary dialogue on the road for x-amounts of episodes (like the Hound and Arya’s Riverland scenes). It would simply break the momentum that’s bound to turn into high gear from now on. And as others have said, this has been a thing on the show since the early seasons. Catelyn’s back and forth jumping from StormsEnd to Riverrun being another example that should’ve taken her more time.

And as for Varys backtracking all the way back to Meereen, who says he did as such? It’s the very last scene of the season, which could imply a massive timeskip has happened. Maybe Dany used the former master’s and the Greyjoy fleet to take the Unsullied and the Dothraki out of Meereen and met up with Varys at Sunspear – and the shot we see is them sailing their Armada through the Narrow Sea? That’s just as viable as we don’t actually see Dany set off from Meereen.

  12. Team Arya,

well even if he does, Daenerys has 3 dragons and basically 120 000(ish) men in her army.
he only has 2000ish Second Sons. And even if he unites entire Essos, along with whoever fights for Cersei now (chances are noone, Lannisters are with Jaime) against her, she still has 3 dragons. To sum up, even if he does, it won’t make any difference. I don’t think we’ll see him anymore. They had their goodbye. That’s it. And for the show, that would only be a pointless complication, we only have 13 episodes to go.

This portion of “we” over here isn’t concerned at all about off-screen travel. Someone was here, then time passed, then they were there. I am stunned that it’s an issue, honestly, as I am ecstatic that we don’t get entire scenes of “the coastline of Dorne” or “the dreary stretch of the Kingsroad”. If that’s the first complaint someone brings up.. it goes in my book as a pretty solid episode.

  14. I haven’t been bothered by or even taken much note of most of the fast travel during the series. Some of it has to be done to allow storylines to flow and fit better within the time allowed.

The Varys one for the final scene was one of the more jarring occasions initially. It wasn’t simply because *bam* there he was on the ship, but more so that there was so much that had to happen and time that passed off screen that the viewer had to mentally fill in from having just seeing him in Dorne. There was a lot more behind it than just one or two people moving from one place to another. It didn’t bother me though other than knowing that if they had time there were some really good scene possibilities with Varys and the Westeros contingent returning to Meereen and preparing to depart.

  15. There seems to be a lot of assuming that Dany is just going to show up and roll over everything in the south in the podcast. I have a hard time believing things will go that smoothly for her. Euron says he is the storm, maybe he’ll bring a storm along to wipe out much of Dany’s fleet.

Also a bit odd to complain about the Maesters not having gender equality. It’s a medieval society…

  16. Apollo: Well asides from the fact it would be 12 month round trip, minimum for Varys. 12 months? Lay off the crack, buddy.

Dorne to Meereen by boat is AT MAX a 3 month trip and even that is a large estimate. And in the show they sail through Valyria so it’s really not that long of a trip.

I’m dumbfounded that people actually have a problem with the plot moving along….. everyone bitches a moans about how boring Meereen is but now they all complain that they left Meereen too soon.

    People make me sick.

  17. hmmm…..Euron may think he is the storm but Dany is Danearys Stormborn! She will kick his ass unless he has that horn thingy that messes with the dragons heads.

  18. The Jet Pack joke has gotten old and repetitive by now. It’s a meme that’s not even funny anymore. It’s not hard to understand time passes on the show.
I’ve said it once and say it again, watch Season 1
Nobody was spoon fed that corny jet pack joke then.
It’s over, let it die and understand

  19. Are people underestimating the speed of ocean crossings?

An online response about Atlantic crossings:

A straight line crossing from Halifax (Nova Scotia) to Spain is approximately 2,700 miles, just over 19 days at an average of 5 knots (24 hours a day), or just over a week at 12 knots – reasonable for a much larger sailboat. Record time for a crossing was made by a racing trimaran, averaging over 30 knots during the 3.5 or so days.

Of course a northern Atlantic crossing may not be an option; a crossing from Europe to the Caribbean is a much more pleasant prospect and spans some 4000 miles. A typical sloop can cover this distance (downwind) in under a month

  20. And to add to the above, in 1874 a Clipper (fast trading sailboat) sailed from London to Adelaide around the Cape of Good Hope in just under three months, and that was a sea journey of over 13 000 miles.

If we calculate that King’s Landing to Winterfell is around 1 500 miles, then Dorne to Slavers Bay looks no more than 3 500 miles max, even going around Old Valyria.

  21. One thing I want to know is why when Maester Aemon sent out ravens about commander Mormont’s death and others even Tyrion knew but the record keeper at the Citadel of all places didn’t know. Also where did Gilly get her hair blown out on the road to Oldtown? She arrived a bit too fresh looking lol. Also how Sansa saw what LF did to his new wife and knowing it was he who helped frame her for murder by having her get out of dodge at that key moment why on earth would she trust him over Jon? Maybe she won’t really but the murmurings all seem to point to her not fully trusting her brother and the actress herself saying along the lines of seeing LF as more trustworthy all of a sudden. I can see where she understand she has a power over him due to his wanting her but that doesn’t necessarily make him an ally unless she goes along with what he wants. She knows he’s a manipulator.
