Are these Game of Thrones stars spotted in Belfast returning in season 6?

We have this week’s most interesting Game of Thrones sightings in Belfast highlighted here today. So intriguing, they’re going beneath a cut, for the sake of the Unsullied viewers. If you don’t want to be potentially spoiled on season 6, then do not click through!

Guess who was sighted in Northern Ireland this week?

Natalia Tena and Art Parkinson were spotted in Belfast, at a restaurant. The woman who took the photo confirmed it was taken at the Perch, a restaurant in the city, this past Sunday. Also spotted were John Bradley, Alfie Allen, and Iwan Rheon.

Tena and Parkinson being back in Belfast forces us to raise the question, are Osha and Rickon coming back to Game of Thrones?

Is this why Natalia Tena tweeted just today about rereading the Game of Thrones books?

#gameofthrones OBSESSED ????

Thanks Morgan, for the discovery!

Also back in Belfast a couple days ago was…you guessed it, Kit Harington. On the 20th, Harington posed with this fan who was visiting the city.

Honestly, I haven’t bothered rounding up all the Kit Harington sightings because there are so many, it’s redundant. He’s been in and out of Belfast so many times- there is no way Kit simply filmed one funeral-type scene and then is moving on. The Worst-Kept Secret in Westeros is reaching new heights.

We can also add Jonathan Pryce to the list of confirmed returns, shown here with a fan, who also ran into Nathalie Emmanuel:

Belfast is a whirlwind this month, and in the coming weeks, Spain will be too! I’m looking forward to seeing who turns up in Girona soon. Keep your eyes peeled, people of Spain!

  1. They won’t recast Rickon! I knew it!

They did that with Tommen and Myrcella because they needed real actors.

  2. Do we have any indication about when they’re filming in Ballintoy? I’ve been interested for word on that because it might shed some small light on whatever’s going on in (presumably) the Iron Islands.

  3. Osha! Rickon! Bran!

Theon’s words to Sansa about her brothers being still alive in Season 5, was also words to the general audience that the two Stark boys were coming back next season. 🙂

  4. Amazing news.

i want to make a question to sue.

by your informations and thoughts, The pirate of the cast list is Euron? Victarion? Some character created by DD (God, please no!) ?

I think this is taking too long to the announcement of the actor and what pirate is .

I remember well , that for the fourth season had not a video cas at comic con , as well as this year.

and I remember the Pedro Pascal announcement as Oberyn was on a ordinary day.

I hope , to know who is soon. =)

  5. Anyone who thinks Art Parkinson is too old to still play Rickon can stuff it, because he’s awesome. 😉

Osha – definitely my favourite wildling girl! Hope they’re back!

Kit isn’t bothering to avoid fan photos anymore, I don’t blame him. 🙂

  6. I started watching the show when I was 17, I’m now 21.
Seeing actors like IHW, Sophie Turner, Masie Williams. This makes me feel old ????

But yeah Kit Harigton/ Jon Snow Ressurection = Worst kept secret ever! Seriously….

Plus the guy in photo with Kit is a member of UK dance troop FLAWLESS. So this explains why he agreed to take this photo. Since he hasn’t agreed with fans.

  7. This is awesome. I knew Art dodging the game of thrones questions in his recent flicks and the city interview was proof enough, but this is a confirmation.

  8. Figured Rickon would be back. So weird to see Art Parkinson so tall.

It’s kind of awesome, from a fan perspective at least, that thanks to fans posting about sightings on Twitter and Instagram, Belfast is essentially under surveillance. I can imagine it’s pretty awful for the actors, though, that they can’t even go out for a bite or a drink without getting snapped. 🙁

    Any Rory McCann sightings?

  9. So happy if this confirms what we all have suspected.

Rickon and Osha are still relevant and it will be very satisfying to see how they are re-introduced!

  10. Hodoreo:

    Art-ful dodging?

  11. really, the last three now are clive russell, paul kaye and richard dormer. since it seems clear that we have the conspiracy in the north with rickon and likely the end of the boltons, one eye’d crow, a bunch of crazy stuff in the north, probably an invasion of the reach by euron, sam at the citadel, tyrion ruling mereen, king’s landing craziness with tristane and kevan and cersei and the sparrows and the tyrells, little finger is up to something, jamie is in a lot of shit, dorne is still simmering (i bet ellaria is for the pelloton) and of course arya is doing something or other. even the dany/khalasar reunion and jorah/daario trek could be interesting. it’s a shame that stannis won’t take tyrion and sansa, but if the brotherhood and the blackfish return and take them instead, i’m in heaven.

  12. This is just awesome! ! Thank you to all the GoT fans sharing these pics. I am looking forward to S6.

  13. Nathan,

I’m not TOO much older than you (I just turned 28, so I mean, I’m a good 7 years older, but yeah) but don’t start feeling old at 21, man! Don’t do it! I’ve always said, the minute I start feeling old, then I’ll be old. So far, so good. Be young! You’re very young.

That written, I sorta know what you mean. I was 23 when this show began, and the younger Stark children were truly children. Now all their actors are growing up at lightspeed and it is dizzying.

  14. Must admit I’ve missed Osha ( and the gorgeous Miss Tena!) and Rickon. Looks like the Umberesque casting was a good hint towards them.
Did we ever get any feedback on whether they managed to get the bear-of-a-man cast?!

  15. Aryamad: So weird to see Rickon so tall.

Yeah, all the coffee and cigarettes clearly didn’t work.

What’s weird is that he looks a hell of a lot like I (and one of my brothers) did at that age.

  16. TheTouchOfFrost: Looks like the Umberesque casting was a good hint towards them.

I wonder in who’s storyline they will feature. I am leaning towards Sansa: I don’t think that Davos is a big enough character to make him a central figure.

david m: dorne is still simmering (i bet ellaria is for the pelloton)

    What does that mean?

  17. Rickon??? You mean, Right ON! Snow Wight who???? This is exciting news.
Now, I cannot wait until we get leaked set pictures that show Unicorns roaming around with a handler and Rickon wearing a unicorn headdress! I will slap someone if we are derived of unicorns this season.

Oh, and *high five* to Rickon in the pic and his support of Baltimore, MD on his shirt. My ass sits there as I type! 🙂

  18. Maybe D&D are capable of finishing some left out story arcs…unless they are like Valve and they can’t count to three.

  19. I would love to travel to Belfast during the filming period… But I’m way too far away here in Buenos Aires…

One friend of mine was in England last year, and he told me that flying to the Irish Island (Belfast or Dublin) was more expensive than flying to Iceland or to the rest of Europe. So that’s why he decided to fly to Iceland and the rest of Europe haha..

Is this true? Being the Éire so close to England..

  20. Thanks for the shoutout! But I don’t want to take all of the credit, I didn’t find the picture, I just asked questions. I don’t know if she comments on here but kingeomer from Under the Heart Tree is the one that brought it to my attention! 😀

I’m really excited for the prospect of Rickon and Osha returning. If Rickon ends up reuniting with one of his siblings, I will be so happy!

  21. I said it once and I’ll say it again: Natalia Tena is absolutely gorgeous. I’m so glad to see her again! And Rickon! It looks like a time for wolves is coming soon…

  22. Tyrion Pimpslap:
    I’m of the siesta,

Same. Love me some Osha. Rickon, happy he’s alive, but I have no attachment to him.

hahaha, I feel the same way. As Andy Greenwald said on the Grantland Thrones podcast when told Rickon might return for S6, “Geez, does he have to?”

  23. This season is looking more and more awesome all the time.

I’d love to see Lord Commander’s Raven say:

    “Corn. Corn. Snow. Walnuts”.

  24. Ravyn,

It’s not really a ‘fan picture’ the other guy in the photo is a celebrity in his own right, so I can imagine some arrangement was made beforehand before he agreed to take the photo. If I was Kit probably made a judgement error thinking what’s the harm?

  25. They should just call season 6 the comeback season and bring everyone back who’s had any sort of open ended arc, Gendry, BwB, The Freys, Blackfish and Edmure, etc.

  26. Darjan:

Season 6: The S.S. Lost Plotlines has returneth!

  27. !!!! This is very exciting news! Osha and Rickon yaaaaaahhs! The question is what is their story- will they be found (Davos?), just bust into Winterfell and steal it from the Boltons? Will Sansa fight Rickon for status? STARKBOWL??? 😛
sorry, do not drink and post on WotW..

  28. Judibatt: Season 6: The S.S. Lost Plotlines has returneth!

Looks like it. Season 6 is probably going to wrap up those storylines before they head into the final seasons.

  29. Jaime’s girl:

    It’s okay.

My theory: Umbers shoving axes in Ramsey’s face after finding out about Sansa. Rickon claiming his crown after defeating the Boltons.

  30. Jaime’s girl,

Is the reappearance of Rickon a danger to Sansa’s claim to Winterfell? Or even to her life? Interesting questions…

(Although none of it will be relevant when the White Walkers invade the North)

  31. If anyone cares to look I posted a sketch I had done of Osha about 2 years ago.

Also have a piece of Brienne of Tarth fan art in there as well. 🙂

  32. Ravyn:
Wonder why Kit finally agreed to take a fan picture?

They probably told him to stop worrying about it and just enjoy the madness.

  33. Jaime’s girl: The question is what is their story- will they be found (Davos?), just bust into Winterfell and steal it from the Boltons? Will Sansa fight Rickon for status? STARKBOWL??

They are not going to turn Rickon into a central character at this late date, so he has to be connected to one of the main characters. I would lean towards Sansa for two reasons. One, Davos is a minor protagonist in the books, and he’s probably not a good character for carrying a storyline or plotline on TV. Two, the show went out of it’s way to inform Sansa that Bran & Rickon are alive. I would lean towards her setting off after them and somehow finding out that they (or just Rickon) are with the Umbers rather than North of the Wall. (What device they would use for that, I do not know.)

I’m of the siesta: Is the reappearance of Rickon a danger to Sansa’s claim to Winterfell? Or even to her life? Interesting questions…

It negates Sansa’s claim. However, I don’t think that is going to be a threat to her life: instead, I suspect that it’s going to give her a purpose in life.

  34. Aryamad,

I could swear I’ve seen that drawing somewhere.
    You did that? Wow.

I have always, since I was a little kid, wished I could draw.

Rickon is the heir. Sansa wants to reunite with him and try to stitch everything back together.

  36. Wimsey,

You’re right: Rickon’s reappearance negates Sansa’s claim but it also gives her a new purpose in life. No problem there.

However, I was thinking more about Sansa’s life being in danger because of the northern houses rallying around Rickon against her. They could accuse her of treason to the Starks… after all, she “willingly” married a Bolton (a family enemy to the Starks and usurpers of Winterfell). Moreover, Littlefinger could use her (again) to create a divide between different houses in the North (particularly if there’s an invasion of armies from the Vale) or he could convince them to hand Sansa over to appease Cersei… I don’t know, I’m probably going all tinfoil here, but something tells me that having Rickon back is not necessarily good news for Sansa…

  37. Nymeria Warrior Queen:

Thank you!! I haven’t posted it anywhere online before. Unless I posted it on WiC back when I first drew it… uh, I don’t remember if I did though lol. Anyhow I really should finish it! XD

Drawing just takes practice and patience. Anyone could do it!
  38. It’ll be great to see Osha again. It will definitely be Sansa who links up with Rickon. I think one of the showrunners said something about finding out about Bran an Rickon was a game changer for her.
Maybe Davos the sea man gets a new task from Jon – go and talk to his auntie.

  39. About Kit in Belfast and how people say it’s no longer a secret etc.,most people I know, family,Uni students,co-workers who watch the show are 110% convinced Jon is dead and he is never coming back.I even have a book reader friend who doesn’t believe he will come back,at least not in the show. We,people who follow al that’s happening, are a small minority compared to how many people watch the show all over the world at this point.Allot of them are just casual watchers, like at every other show.
We could have pictures from the set with Kit in character and a comeback from Jon would still be a massive event and quite a shock for the large audience.

  40. Why do I have a feeling that Rickon is going to hang Theon & Ramsay in Winterfell.

The great Northern Conspiracy is coming!
    The North Remembers

  41. I honestly would not have recognized Rickon from that picture. But it will be great to have Osha and Rickon back again. It will be difficult to disguise how much older he and Bran looks this season.

    Nice to Kit in Belfast…again…

We could potentially see a great Stark reunion between Sansa, Rickon and Jon. 🙂

  42. Never read the books. I don’t care about Rickon because I don’t even remember him in the show. Osha was cool cause for me she’s a character that made the Bran storyline less dull and Hodor whatever, he doesn’t say anything. I only care about Jon really. Well I love Brienne and Jamie together but they aren’t and even Tyrion and Dany hold no interest anymore for some reason. Perhaps I’m just soured on the show after that last death.

  43. Knew it the moment we got the Umber casting. It’s good to see Osha and Rickon will be brought back into the fold (and if we’re lucky, it’ll be alongside Manderly’s awesome speech- told by an Umber, but still).
  44. Fedejru:

Complete bollocks. I once flew from Birmingham to Dublin for under a fiver. If you leave it very late to book, and it’s a popular time to fly, then you might get stiffed on price. Otherwise it’s much cheaper than most of the continent and certainly much cheaper than Iceland! Plus, if your route is London-Dublin, and you’re OK with a 7-hr journey, the Rail and Sail deal with rail to Holyhead and ferry to Dublin has stayed steady at £27 for some time, I believe.

It sounds like your friend got an amazing start-up deal from a low-cost Icelandic airline that recently started operations in Britain.

  45. YESSSS OSHA and Rickon!!!!! All we need now is a sighting of the sexiest man alive, Rory McCann.

  46. So glad Osha’s coming back. May the Great Northern conspiracy reign supreme and the Boltons get whats coming to them!

And frankly I think Sansa will be relieved to give her claim to Winterfell to Rickon. Its brought her nothing but trouble and she wants to House Stark to rise again.

    NCW in Belfast.

I also saw a tweet, and now can’t find it, that Dean Charles Chapman was on his way to Belfast.

    Any word on Lena Headey?

Yes Nikolaj is in Belfast. I can’t follow your link for some reason 🙁
Is it the same photos as on here?
    http://nikolajfangirlteam.tumblr.com/

For some reason (this is confusing to me) Nikolaj flies to Dublin from Copenhagen (he has twice this year that I know of right before he appears in Belfast) so I don’t know if they pick him up in a car or what, because I cannot find connecting flights listed between Dublin and Belfast.. either way, he arrived on the 19th in Dublin.
    https://twitter.com/The_Real_Ev/status/633933297521950720
@The_Real_Ev confirmed the fight to me on twitter

To my knowledge no one has seen Lena yet. Obviously she just had a baby so that’s a factor (Lena and baby are doing well as far as we know!). But people are on Lena-watch!
This was Lena on the 20th
    https://twitter.com/IAMLenaHeadey/status/634426117605068800
avocados sounds like still in California to me, but who knows 😉

I’m guessing Watchers on the Wall will get the news out within 24 hrs as soon as she appears 🙂 There’s a lot of people online hoping Nikolaj and Lena will shoot together in Spain in September 🙂

  48. Wimsey,

I think it will be Osha and Rickon with Davos thrown in to link them to the other plots. Possibly they merge with the Wildings and tackle Ramsay. Sansa is a mystery at the moment. Could see her going to the Riverlands, could see her staying up north. May even go back to the Vale or join up with whatever they’re going to be doing!
Just been hit by a mad theory of maybe Dorne backing Rickon for the Iron Throne?! That’d be something no one would see coming with them being opposite ends of Westeros! 😛
Has anyone seen Patrick Malahide yet? We’ve seen Gemma Whelan ( which reminds me of this! https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CMZGcbZXAAA5tJV.jpg:large ) about but I’d have thought they’d get him back for whatever is going to happen in the Iron Islands plot!

  49. Hopefully we get less of Natalia’s ‘Girl Interrupted’ interpretation of a Wildling. The crazy cat lady shit just does not work for me. Although full frontal vee jay jay always works. So torn.

  50. Get the high sparrow to the winterfell barber ASAP his ish is woofin…also, Art is looking like Bob ross son in that picture. Art being his name also reinforce’s my theory.

  51. Ser Gerold Dayne,

They must not have a facebook or twitter account. When TIME mag, Vanity Fair, The Guardian, The Independent, the daily Mail, and pretty much every news source that has an entertainment section are giving daily uodates on Kit Harington and posting it all to their facebook pages, then you don’t have to be a die hard fan seeking out information. You just have to be someone who follows major entertainment news sites on social networking.
Even if you dont flow those sites, there’s a good chance one if your friends would and they would share the story to their page to show up on their friends timelines.

The Kit Harington saga transcends past the die hard fans seeking out off-season show news. At least for a decent chunk of the younger population.

  52. Marta,

A man can dream as well, lol. I really miss dude. He provided a unique element to the show that cannot b duplicated

  53. Boudica:
We could potentially see a great Stark reunion between Sansa, Rickon and Jon.

Though it would actually, in all cases, be the first time any of those actors have had dialogue with each other.

  54. mau,

Though it’s still a relief because Art Parkinson wasn’t originally a *real* actor. If I remember correctly he was just meant to stand in for the pilot and was meant to be recast later that season, but they kept him on. Then they kept him on again for S2. And S3. Of course, in the two year break he has done some movies so that helped. It’s great to see his career taking off; he was excellent in his scenes in ‘The Rains of Castamere.’

  55. outdoorcats,

I Agree, he was great in the rains of Castamere. I had a felling after that episode they wouldn’t recast him since they went out of their way to give him a monologue and named him the heir to Winterfell in the same episode. This season is going to be incredible, Season 6 the rise of the wolves.

Bran to Rickon: “I’m going north of the wall and Robb is in battle, if he falls you are the heir to winterfell”

  56. Angela: Rickon is the heir. Sansa wants to reunite with him and try to stitch everything back together.

Actually, wouldn’t Bran be the heir? Rickon and Osha know he went North and the probabilities of his survival ain’t that great. But last time they saw him, he was alive. Sansa also knows Bran was not killed by Theon, so… I guess Rickon and Sansa can get together work to rebuild the Stark power in the North, but it would be in the name of the true heir (Sansa could be like a Queen regent figure).

  57. GhostCR: Actually, wouldn’t Bran be the heir?

Yep. And Rickon would believe his brother to still be alive… so I doubt he’d usurp his rightful place unless he believed him to be dead. However, that doesn’t mean he couldn’t take his place until he returned.

  58. Stanny B,

In Italy ,very important Newspapers , even those who speak of economics, politics chronicle etc write that Jon Snow returns.and so we read on forums , Facebook , Twitter.
    Look here: In Rome

The viewers of GoT go on google for news , to see Kit and his hair …it’s strange that no one is interested in Belfast
We love Jon Snow , and we want him alive and Kit with him
    In Belfast they know nothing….

  59. Selina:
    Jaime’s girl,

Apparently this girl lives in Dublin and she spotted Dean and Nell in the same day that Nikolaj was in Dublin.

Nell was probably only there because she’s dating Dean. I mean, after she filmed her obligatory burial scene.

  60. Ravyn,

Nell is not dating Dean, do not believe in any rumor, mate. And she was in Belfast early, she probably still has something to shoot, probably related to her funeral.

  61. GhostCR:

I know technically he is the next in line behind Robb. Bran isn’t coming back ever. He chose going to Blood Raven over going back to Castle Black with Jon. He will become like Blood Raven infused with a weirwood tree. He is not leaving that cave physically to claim his title. So, the next in line is: Rickon Stark
  62. Selina: Bran is the heir.

As Bran is very much out of the picture, Rickon is now heir for all intents and purposes. Moreover, Bran probably will have ways of letting Rickon (and Sansa if she winds up with Rickon) know this.

Selina: If I were you, I would not be so sure.

There aren’t ents in Westeros, so I think that we can be pretty sure!

  63. Wimsey,

I will not argue with you. I’m just giving my opinion. He can not return to Winterfell, but he will be coming out of that cave much earlier than you think.

  64. TheTouchOfFrost: think it will be Osha and Rickon with Davos thrown in to link them to the other plots.

None of those are big enough characters to carry a plot line or (easily) generate a storyline. At any rate, the show went out of its way to let us see Sansa learn that Bran & Rickon survived Theon. It also went out of its way to show us Sansa learning that Jon is Lord Commander at the Wall. Those were almost certainly big gun hangings!

Moreover, why would Davos search for Rickon on the show? Rickon is nobody to him, and Davos has no reason to think that Rickon is alive. I’m not sure what Davos’ role will be. However, it might well involve Ramsay: remember that he was the one that told Jon that, insofar as Davos was concerned, the NW vows were a reason to take down the Boltons (who were a danger to the people of Westeros). Given that Ramsay knows that Sansa thinks her step-brother is at the wall, we have two things pointing Davos Ramsay. (My thought at this point is that in the book

Ramsay is going to attack the Wall as he promised, and the show is setting up a similar conflict; in the book, Davos probably will contribute somehow to a counter-attack on Ramsay in part to avenge Stannis and in part because Rickon will be recognized as heir. These things probably are going to converge both on page and on screen, although they might do it differently, and there are so many ways that it could happen that I wouldn’t predict anything more than this general scenario.
  65. Selina: he will be coming out of that cave much earlier than you think.

I really doubt that Bran is ever coming out of that cave.

  66. Wimsey,

    We were told that the

Three Eyed Crow will not have many scenes next season. I do not think he will be killed, because he is not alive. So my theory is that Bran will complete his training and will be out of that cave somewhere in the middle of the season.
  67. Poor Art Parkinson … every kid needs to endure a certain amount of “Oh my how much you’ve grown!” but he’s already getting it on a worldwide scale lol

  68. I really do wonder about Jaime’s boat. If I remember correctly, they were still within sight of the Dornish shore when Myrcella died. What do they do? Do they high-tail it back to King’s Landing? Do they go back to the Dornish shore?

  69. Nymeria Warrior Queen:
I really do wonder about Jaime’s boat.If I remember correctly, they were still within sight of the Dornish shore when Myrcella died. What do they do?Do they high-tail it back to King’s Landing?Do they go back to the Dornish shore?

I have no idea. My speculation on two ways it could play out:

1.) They land in KL with Princess Myrcella’s dead body. The Lannisters will be furious. Trystane would be arrested for suspicion of her death. Kevan would send an army to Dorne. It would start the war that Ellaria wanted and it would end very badly.

    or

2.) Jaime might make the captain turn around and go after Ellaria and the Sand Snakes. Jaime knows that Doran wants peace and will use it against him. Bronn could hold Trystane hostage to make Doran punish them. This scenario could work too. The rumored major female character death in the first episode. Jaime goes back and they execute Ellaria.

I don’t think a Dornish ship would land in KL with the dead body of a Lannister Princess.

Either scenario will not end well for Ellaria and the Sand Snakes. Dorne will be damaged by this too.

    Maybe not.

  70. Angela,

Although I realize that Myrcella’s death will probably set off an exciting domino effect of nastiness within KL, I can’t help but wonder why Trystane, who is the heir to the Prince of Dorne, doesn’t have a murse full of vials of antidotes for the poison that Myrcella consumed? The Dornish seem to be quite familiar with poisons and antidotes.

  71. Nymeria Warrior Queen: Do they high-tail it back to King’s Landing? Do they go back to the Dornish shore?

I had assumed that the ship was Dornish: I doubt that they would send the heir to their country somewhere on just a hired boat! So, “back” would be back to port.

Hodor’s Bastard: The Dornish seem to be quite familiar with poisons and antidotes.

But that doesn’t mean that they go around poisoning each other at all times! Moreover, Myrcella was dead pretty quickly (although they cut the scene with Jaime sobbing over her corpse, the still were released), and Jaime never summoned Trystane.

  72. Selina: So my theory is that Bran will complete his training and will be out of that cave somewhere in the middle of the season.

Completed training will mean becoming one with the trees: there is no leaving the cave after that. That written, Bran almost certainly will mentally “leave” the Cave on a regular basis after he becomes a tree god. So, he’ll probably be able to “nudge” Rickon, Sansa, etc., in directions. Who knows, maybe Bran will be the one to nudge Sansa towards Rickon.

  73. Angela,

I think what should provide the answer to the two alternatives is how much Jaime has evolved, particularly over the last season.

Moreover, neither scenario necessarily means immediate trouble for Ellaria & the Sand Snakes. We should assume that they are going somewhere neither Doran or the Iron Throne can get to them easily. Indeed, the question we should be asking is: where are they going? Who else war between the Lannisters and the Dornish? The list is a long one!

  74. Hodor’s Bastard:

He might have an antidote but not get there in time to save Myrcella.

Yes, Ellaria needs to run yesterday to someplace far away from everyone’s reach. I don’t know where.

Jaime may regress after what happened to Myrcella.
The situation is not going to end well.

  76. Wimsey: I had assumed that the ship was Dornish: I doubt that they would send the heir to their country somewhere on just a hired boat! So, “back” would be back to port.

Even if the ship is Dornish, and it certainly could be, (you assume it is, I’m not making any assumptions, although if I were to hazard a guess, I’d say there’s a possibility it is the ship Cersei had sent to Myrcella) “back” could be the Dornish shore (or port, as you called it, either way, they mean the same thing), or “back” whence Jaime came. They could also head elsewhere.

Wimsey: We should assume that they are going somewhere neither Doran or the Iron Throne can get to them easily.

Why should we assume that? Do you not think Jaime may feel some obligation to return his daughter body to his mother where she can receive a proper burial?

Wimsey: Indeed, the question we should be asking is: where are they going?

    That’s the question being asked.

  77. Nymeria Warrior Queen: Even if the ship is Dornish, and it certainly could be, (you assume it is, I’m not making any assumptions, although if I were to hazard a guess, I’d say there’s a possibility it is the ship Cersei had sent to Myrcella)

It seems very implausible that Doran would send his heir on a ship that was not beholden to him and to his son. Cersei might have had a ship waiting for Jaime: but that was under the idea that Jaime was going to sneak Myrcella out. It would be a bit of an idiot plot if Doran just used any old ship and grabbed the one that Cersei had sent there!

I suppose that it is possible that the Lannister’s could have had their people planted on one of Doran’s ships: but, let’s face it, Cersei is not bright enough to think of something like that, and Jaime’s too rash to do so.

Nymeria Warrior Queen: Why should we assume that? Do you not think Jaime may feel some obligation to return his daughter body to his mother where she can receive a proper burial?

“They” = Ellaria & the SS here. As for Jaime, he is a man of action, even if one with only one hand. He might think it more important to pursue the people who killed her while their trail is warm. It is possible that they are doing a variant of one of the book plotlines that does not feature important character: B&W know what the Winter story is (whereas I do not!) and they might have thought of some way to have Jaime deliver his part of the story doing this.

Nymeria Warrior Queen: That’s the question being asked.

I have not seen it discussed much. At the time, I had assumed that they were going to “Young Griff” and that this was setting up his introduction. However, they have not cast that role, so it must be somewhere else. I suppose that it’s possible that Ellaria & Co. are working with Euron. Alternatively, they might be working with the Tyrells: it’s something that Olenna would do.

But it seems that a lot of people are assuming that Ellaria & the SS are just going back to Dorne to be arrested. Given that Ellaria was promised execution, she probably would not have taken an antidote only to walk back to certain death: why add humiliation to the death?

I thought I saw the Martell sigil on the sails. Either way Ellaria’s plan is going to blow up in her face.

  79. Wimsey: “They” = Ellaria & the SS here. As for Jaime, he is a man of action, even if one with only one hand. He might think it more important to pursue the people who killed her while their trail is warm.

My bad. I didn’t realize you were referring to Ellaria and Sand Snakes.

As far as Jaime goes, yes, he is a man of action, and he may choose to try and pursue Ellaria. I’m not sure, though. The idea of his daughter’s dead body in the hands of the Dornish is…I just don’t see it. If it is, in fact, a Dornish ship, that’s essentially what he’d be doing. If he left her on the boat…she’s in the hands of the Dornish. If he goes back to shore, she’s in the hands of the Dornish. Then there’s Trystane. I wouldn’t think Jaime would want to lose him.

Angela: I thought I saw the Martell sigil on the sails. Either way Ellaria’s plan is going to blow up in her face.

I was looking for pictures of the ship, and watched the “goodbye” scene. At that point the sails had yet to be unfurled. They could have shown them open later, though. I do think Ellaria is as good as dead…whenever she’s caught, as my guess is she’s going to high-tail it out of there. I’m not so sure the Sand Snakes would leave, though. It was Ellaria who administered the poison. The Sand Snakes may be guilty by assosciation, but they aren’t the ones who killed Myrcella.

I think the sails were unfurled when Ellaria was looking out to sea with the Sand Snakes. I thought I saw a yellow sail. Maybe I was seeing things.

This, I know it is a meme but the bottom is the scene:

A tiny ship with a yellow sail. I could be completely seeing things in that scene.

  81. Angela: I thought I saw the Martell sigil on the sails. Either way Ellaria’s plan is going to blow up in her face.

Not necessarily: if it induces war between the Lannisters and the Martells, then she gets what she wants. The question is, from where will she be watching the action? (That’s a figurative watching, of course!)

Nymeria Warrior Queen: My bad. I didn’t realize you were referring to Ellaria and Sand Snakes.

As Bugs Bunny once, “pronoun trouble….” 🙂

Nymeria Warrior Queen: If he goes back to shore, she’s in the hands of the Dornish. Then there’s Trystane. I wouldn’t think Jaime would want to lose him.

But what control or authority does Jaime have? Moreover, although Jaime might not want to lose Trystane, Trystane might well want to lose Jaime. It would be very easy for Trystane to blame Jaime for this in the heat of the moment: to him, it might seem that the ultimate cause of his girlfriend’s death was the doings of Jaime’s father and his minions. It would not be 100% rational: but not 100% wrong, and also 100% human!

Nymeria Warrior Queen: I do think Ellaria is as good as dead…whenever she’s caught, as my guess is she’s going to high-tail it out of there.

That will depend on whether Doran and/or the Lannisters win against whomever’s camp Ellaria is going to join! If it’s Daeny’s camp, then maybe not at all.

It will when Doran executes Tyene for helping her out. She pleaded her allegiance to Doran to save herself and her daughter. No third chances. That includes the Sand Snakes. She will regret it when Tyene is scheduled an appointment with Areo’s axe. She may have wanted war but at the cost of one of her daughters? She already lost Oberyn. What price is she willing to pay to get her revenge against the Lannisters ?

  83. Wimsey,

I don’t think it’ll be a major storyline but Davos has been the anchor for scenes before as has Osha. I still reckon Davos will be the one who brings them together. Not sure what his motivation would be though as without Stannis he’s a bit rudderless. I imagine his prime directive now will involve Melisandre and revenge on her but I’m not sure how that’s going to work yet. I’m not sure we’ll get the Stark reunion next season but some of them will have to start meeting up at some point. My rather wild guess for what will happen to Sansa next season is that she’ll end up back the Vale with their forces and Littlefinger taking the role of Stannis in regards to Theon’s plot. Then perhaps the Vale will march on Winterfell? Who knows!

  84. so…. I was rewatching the season finale for the 19th time, cuz SOMEHOW it’s not april yet ???? but I don’t know if anyone else has said it yet, but…. the bolting didn’t burn any of those ppl who died in that battle…. do y’all think they are gonna come back to life? or is that too far south of the wall??? i would LOVE for the guy who Ramsey killed, the one who was crawling away, to comeback and stab Ramsey in his nose 5 times lol lol

  85. TheTouchOfFrost,

Davos’s motivation would surely be revenge on the Boltons. As far as he’s aware it was the Boltons that killed Stannis and Shireen, and Melisandre is unlikely to say otherwise. He has no proof that Melisandre is responsible for their deaths, so revenge on her is a bit premature.

The only people who know the truth are the sellswords that deserted after Shireen was sacrificed. Orchestrating a way for Davos to encounter one of these sellswords and find out the truth may be in the producers minds.

In the meantime, the best way to get revenge on the Boltons is by working to unify the other Northern houses against the Boltons. I’m not sure exactly how he would end up on the search for Rickon, whether it be at the behest of a resurrected Jon or by encountering one of the Northern lords, but I could see it happening.

They’ve got to put off Davos learning the truth about Melisandre’s role in Shireen’s death for a little while yet, especially if she is meant to have any role in Jon’s story or the ongoing story at the Wall.

  86. Angela,

Thank you for the picture. I had watched the scene with the kiss, and didn’t remember any view of the ship with the sails unfurled. I can’t tell what color the sails are, to be honest, but I can tell the sails are different from the ship we saw in Season 4 which Cersei had Oberyn send to Myrcella, which is the ship I thought it could possibly be.

  87. Wimsey:

What control or authority does Trystane have? Yes, he’s Prince of Dorne, but a kid. Jaime is the “uncle” to the King, and Myrcella is the King’s sister. Who knows who has the authority on that ship. Given Trystane seems to buy into Doran’s philosophy, I’m guessing Trystane isn’t going to try to do something stupid to Jaime, heat of the moment, or not. Additionally, him ultimately blaming Tywin? I know you acknowledged it wouldn’t be 100% rational, but it would be a little too irrational to fly, methinks.

    Wimsey:

That will depend on whether Doran and/or the Lannisters win against whoever’s camp Ellaria is going to join!If it’s Daeny’s camp, then maybe not at all.

Well, of course, if Ellaria has people around her protecting her, Doran and/or the Lannister’s would have to fight them to get to her. As far as joining Daenery’s camp, not only do I not think Ellaria would head to Meereen, Ellaria doesn’t really have any authority. She’s the paramour of a dead Prince of Dorne. She wasn’t his wife, and her children are bastards. Sure, bastards are not shunned in Dorne, but Meereen isn’t Dorne, and I don’t think Daenerys (or Varys or Tyrion) would care what the lover of Elia’s brother had to say.

  88. Nymeria Warrior Queen:

  89. Angela,

That makes sense. I really had it in my mind it was the gift-ship from Cersei. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

btw – That meme was pretty funny.

  90. Ramsay’s 20th Good Man,

Perhaps for the Stannis revenge but the truth about the Shireen burning would get out pretty quick. It was pretty public and with lord knows how many sell swords frequenting taverns all over the north then their ongues are going to be wagging as soon as they’ve had a couple of ales in them if not before! Still not really sure how he’d know about Rickon and Bran though and for what purpose Jon would want to use them. His focus has got to be the WW now really after it’s been set up so not entirely sure he’s got time to fight a war in the North! Perhaps he sends Davos to try and bring the Umbers over to his side and Rickon and Osha are discovered there? Really not sure. Just hope they come up with better ways of linking the story together than the means of getting Sansa to Winterfell or, to a lesser extent, Jaime to Dorne.
I think we could see the end of Mel and perhaps Davos this season. Can’t see how much more they can factor into the story and have served their purpose.
